Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Cool, thanks for the response Tom

I looked at Polar and the F6. I am thinking the R100 or 200 myself simply because they are more designed for running. The more I run the more I like it. The more I like it the more I could see it becoming something I invest some time and effort in. I am already on the lookout for a 5-10km run in town here sometime this summer. I wonder if I would be the only white dude? Though after 3 days of downtime and a big run I am feeling it now. No biggie though, will be fine by morning with liberal applications of woodlock oil. Mmmmm woodlock oil. I highly recommend a trip down to China town to pick some up. Works wonders on aches and pains...

As for the plateau, sorry to hear it buddy, I knew all along I wasn't plateauing, just illness playing havoc on my system. I will definitely burn my last stick of nice Thai incense with you in mind. Damn. I liked that incense too.... Nothing like an excuse to fly out to Thailand sooner than later...... ;) But I am going to wait. I figure by this summer I am going to look good enough the wife will be easily convinced to show off her man on the beaches in Thailand again. She does so enjoy showing me off, so I think I will use it to my advantage..... ;)

Anyhow, no fears buddy, may not be a plateau for ya after all, maybe you inadvertently did something to piss off the scale gods. The secret will be in finding what you did and making amends for it later..... Or ditch the scale and get a new one.... (though don't tell the scale god I said so, I am on a roll!!)

sirant

Thanks for burning that high quality incense for me, buddy. I did buy a new scale two months ago. I hate to throw it in the trash too soon.

Yes, I did piss off the scale gods. I posted a new sig image with 235 lbs. on it, before I was really sure I was not on a plateau. Bad mistake!

Tomo I been gone a while but I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you are to so many people here! You're amazing!

Hi Tom!

I've been thinking of getting a new scale- mine is SHOCKING!! But I have been careful not to say this out loud in case it hears me and punishes me. This along with your insence, and I'm sure tomorrow will be good for me!

As for your plateau, It's so cool how you can be so patient with it! I would probably be silly and drop calories stupidly low or something

Well, glad you're back, and thanks for visiting! I hope if people see that an old geezer like me can do it, they can too!

LOL, at my age, patience is one of the few things we have left! :) I was reading an article in the NY Times Magazine this morning. Someone asked Nora Ephron about getting wiser as she got older. She said that was true, but the trouble was, you kept forgetting the things you were supposed to be wiser about!

Be very careful how you talk about your scale. I'm really getting afraid the scale gods will punish all of us collectively for conspiring against them!

Hey Tom, is there a place on this website where we can post pictures bigger than the 100pixel thing?? I thought I saw something a month ago. I would like to share some of the turkey in my yard today. :D

Yeah, there are a couple of forums where you can do that -- Off Topic and Before & After. You can post larger pics here, too, but only as attachments, which is a hassle, I know.

I got some of them to load into my diary, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I hate that we have to shrink them so small, they lose their sharpness and character. And Wishes, I posted a reply for you in my diary.

Tom, I'm beginning to believe that Curves might be out celebrating her win. It's driving me nuts, I hope she logs in tonight! :)

Hey, I loves the new pic! You look soooooo happy!

I was very happy then. It was at the end of a wonderful week with my son. He's doing great in his 4th year as a fashion designer, and I'm very proud of him.

Me too!!! I bet she won! The suspense is killing me.

Exercise Log - 5/6/2007

Weights "A" - 45 minutes, 463 calories

View attachment 3346

Before my workout, I was kind of worried about doing weights today. For the past 3 days, my back has been a little out of kilter. But after my warmup sets on squats, I felt really good.

I'm only 5 lbs. away from squatting 200 lbs. now -- I think I'll be able to hit that this month or next for sure. Still in the "weakling" class, but it's a long way from 135 lbs., where I started.

I felt stronger today on all the exercises, with nothing having a difficulty rating higher than 2. I feel like next time I'll be ready to increase the bench press up to 155 lbs., the standing military press up to 105 lbs., and the 1 arm dumbbell row up to 75 lbs.

Added 225 more calories from gardening for 45 minutes.

I'll expect you back in a couple of months, Cannon, if not before!

Seriously, take your time. I know you're concentrating on walking now, and that's fantastic. Once you get to the low 300's or the high 200's, though, I think you'll be ready to add some weight training.

Believe it or not, I actually like my scale. It's an old doctor's scale probably made in the 1960's. My boss is a tag sale collector (poor dear can't help himself), so he gave me one of his scales about 9 years ago. I think it may be off by one or two pounds, but its the kind with a weight that you adjust if it becomes unbalanced, and since I've always used this same scale, I'm comparing apples to apples (or pears to pears if you want to get technical). What kind of scale do you have?
