Fatty.2 : Revenge of the chub.

Hahahaha! What a mental image. I've run out of crumpets so making a shop dash soon. Got to do a secret santa with my friends and am worrying about what to get. We're having a big xmas meal on Sunday so must have it by then! My weekend shifts are cancelled permanently now so I'll get a chance to do some work this weekend although I feel tonight may be an all nighter with the amount I have to do.
Got another night shift tomorrow (earning money for my America holiday!) so will stock up on healthy snacks today I think.

KILL ME NOW!

Going to try really hard not to have a drink tonight but I'm cancelling on my friend (where I usually drink a lot) where we usually watch Misfits every week so I can study and I feel all deprived. I just want wineeee. It troubles me that after only 4-5 days I'm really feeling agitated that I can't have a drink. Really want to stick with it purely to see if I can but not holding great hopes for tonight. We'll see.

Food on the other hand, will be perfect today! Will be posting my weight every day now as well to note any changes and so I can see how those changes are related to food choices made the previous day. I'm up 2lbs today but ate under my calories yesterday. Confusion.

Day 7:
Day 5 of no drinking

Breakfast: 2 crumpets (160)
Lunch: string cheese (70) low-fat yog (92) two bites of doughnut (90)
Dinner: kiev (300) baked potato (160) butter (50) mixed veg (50approx) garlic bread (150)
Snacks: 5 cups of green tea (0) cheese (130) twiglets (140)

Total: 1392
Exercise: 2 hr walk. (1hr fast walking, 1hr mooching around shops)

Weight: 181 (after a few cups of tea this morn)

Isn't it annoying! The body is so hard to figure out sometimes. good luck with this - looking forward to seeing how it goes! Resist the drinks tonight! You can do it!

When these confusing fluctuations happen to me they always seem to be related to how much salt I had. I can eat a big slab of key lime pie for 500 cals and LOSE weight, but I have a handful of doritos and I jump 3 lbs over night. :cuss:

Hey guys--thanks for sympathising! It's very confusing. I went back over what I ate last night and Yank told me that he put a butt-ton of salt on my wedges last night (I adore salt) so that may explain the gain. I'm drowning my body in green tea today and eating well as long as I avoid the salt today I should be good for tomorrow ^_^

Brought suagr-free Red Bull and fresh pineapple for my night shift but will also pack a sandwich (instead of my usual pasta) and get some healthy crisps to snack on. I'm a massive picker so I'd rather have 10 little things to nibble on than a big meal.

Had a productive afternoon. Went for a long, long walk with the Yank (he's trying to get healthy as well now despite weighing all of 150lbs!) so that was lovely. Did a food shop (brought doughnuts for my boys..MUST RESIST!!) and more string cheese and some lemon green tea which is quite nice.

Sunflower, I tend to think of weight fuctuations as the consequences of the last week or two weeks with a time lag rather than what's happened in the last day or so... Helps me to focus on the long time rather than get down by short term jumps up!

Must ....resist....daily....weigh-in!

btw the sugar free drinks have a ton of sodium in them usually - aka water retention :)

I'm the same, i avoid sodium in any form and drop a ton of weight. I still put a tiny bit on my boiled veg for flavour but i wash it down with a gallon of water!

Thanks for the advice ladies--I'm still gonna weigh in every day just for the next few days, maybe a week. I've not been keeping up to date with my weigh-ins and have gotten lazy with documenting my weight so doing it every day for a while (without getting obsessed, don't worry! :)) will be helpful for me, I think.

Caving and having a vodka with diet pepsi but it's much, much better than the bottle of wine I'd usually have.

ewwww diet pepsi :p
Pepsi Max is where it's at lol
And again.. stop making me want crumpets!!!!!! lol.
Was Jimmy carr good then? I saw him last year and it was AMAZING :)

*sends piggy crumpets* om nom nom!!

Tigs, I finished one essay and am about 500 words into the next one! Fun times! Slightly buzzed from the vodka and diet pepsi so not sure any of it will make sense tomorrow! We shall see!
The question is: To what extent does the term ‘quality television’ mark contemporary attitudes towards and debates about American television drama?

THRILLING!

HUH???? Maybe I should have a glass of wine so I can understand the question in the first place!

Thank you! I was sat here for bloody ages trying to figure it out! Think it means that you have to take a point of view about how labelling some television as "quality" may be good/bad and the impact it has had on other networks/demographics and such.

It's just horrendous. Makes no sense to me. I don't even watch much television :(

I think that's a really interesting question Sunflower - if you compare the recent hit shows from the States - Dexter, NCIS, True Blood, Criminal Minds, CSI just to name a few - they are HUGE budget, filmed like mini movies and merchandised/marketed/create stars in a way that British television hasn't really come close to. The industry here is trying to replicate it in recent years i.e. Doctor Who, Spooks and costume dramas but our "quality television" still tends to focus on drama/interaction between characters rather than big "movie"like episodes in quite the same way - a bit like the differential between Hollywood films and British "independents". The problem is self-replicating though - UK tv channels tend to pay big bucks to syndicate the US shows rather than invest big bucks in commissioning UK ones and when we do export to the US, ie. The Office...they remake it!! Worth mentioning the impact of the internet in there too as peer2peer sharing has meant that European tv fans can watch US tv shows as soon as they air - this has also had a huge impact on East coast/West coast scheduling and advertising in the US by the way! - so this deminishes the value somewhat of importing the next big season of something.
Anyway, enough waffle from me.

That's very good Jay! Some interesting points for me to consider :) Cheers!

Wishes, it does seem like that sometimes!! The way they word the questions does seem overly ambiguous and difficult to understand sometimes!

Tig, reality TV is very big over here. Big Brother was on every year for 10 years until it was stopped and we have I'm a Celebrity..Get me out of here! Which is shite. A load of b-list celebs go into the jungle and have to eat bugs and do challenges and shit until the public votes them out. And then obviously XFactor and such. It's very popular over here. What do you guys have?

Just found my old, old WW book and I started off at 14st 13 (209lbs) :piggy: so I've actually done a little better than I've given myself credit for!

Have lost 30lbs! Gosh, if I'd kept that last 5-6 pounds off I'd have lost like 35lbs! Blaaaaaaady hell.

Anyway, update the ol' ticker! It's like I've lost 7lbs just doing math!!!! :hurray:

30 pounds, that's awesome! Must have been exciting to see you'd done even better than you thought. Good luck with all your paper writing! Thankfully I'm a tax accountant so as of Monday my paper writing days of school are over. Now just tests!
