They sure push the flu shot here too. But every year when we have gotten it, our whole family has caught every little bug that went around. It may not have been full blown flu, but it's still miserable! On the years when we have not gotten it, we manage to get thru the winter with maybe a couple of mild colds each. It just seems as if our bodies are better able to fight things off. Of course I'm big on hand washing for the kids, especially right after they come home from school. And I have bottles of hand sanitizer setting all over the place too.
I just can't help but wonder if the flu shot does more harm than good especially when I compare how often my family gets sick (rarely) to how often my sister's family gets sick. She INSISTS everyone get flu shots every year, and no one in her family seems to be able to go more than 2 weeks without coming down with something else. And not just colds either. They get the pukey, achey, fever sickness, or pneumonia quite often. I think it will take 2 lifetimes to pay off all their medical bills!
I think getting the flu shot should be a choice, not required. Just be sensible about things. Wash your hands often, and if you DO get sick, be kind by staying home and keep your germs to yourself instead of going out and spreading them around!
Hope you feel better soon!
