Fat Guy In A Little Coat. (The War On 120 Pounds).

I had a slice of pizza a few days ago (left over Digiorno my wife and kids had one night when I had a meeting at work) with my baked fish and salad. I'd like to chalk it up to will power, but honestly there was only 1 piece left. It's still nice to be able to eat things you like. I did stretch a chocolate bar into my diet, although I stretched it over 3 different days and those weren't in a row. A 100 cal chunk wasn't difficult to work in here and there. My wife was impressed with my will power to do that. I'd rather have a tad here and there than to never have it at all. Long-term plans have to be workable.

1 slice is no small task for me, either. 4 slices is more along my lines...

Anyway, keep up the good work, just flipped through your plan - I'm impressed with the rigidity, I sure couldn't adhere to it (food-wise). I don't think I could do a single burpee, let alone 10 minutes worth!

Hey there, thanks for checking out my diary. It sounds as though you're off to a great start yourself. I'm 34 years old and have been dieting off and on for about the past 5 years so I completely understand where you're coming from. My change will also be a lifestyle change.

I saw your workout plan. It sounds brutal! Kudos to you for doing all of that. My choice of exercise has always been Taebo and now that it's warming up I'll be adding walking to the mix. My joints can't handle walking in the cold or I'd just bundle up.

And as far as all of that delicious pizza talk... I'm rather embarassed to say that I can keep up with Little John very well by eating 4 slices in one sitting. I LOVE pizza! One of my favorites and that's why I don't have it often. I know it'll turn into a binge session. Ugh! Good self control!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's never easy even when you know it's coming. :(

MysticRealm - "no pain, no gain" right? Heh. You're doing great though, I always feed the need to do more after reading your diary.

LaMaria - I know, it was difficult for me as well. But it was a good test of will power. Thanks!

BugDude - I can agree with that 150%, "nice to be able to eat things you like". Amen. Yep, workable plans = success in the long haul.

Little John - I hear you on the pizza, been there and done that, my friend! :/. It's definitely not the easiest task I've decided to do, but it's a good one. One day I'll be able to do ten minutes. I saw someone do 16 minutes once. Granted, he was a trained mixed martial artist.

MandyH - I love Tae-bo as well. Did it today as a matter of fact. I was doing well with it before some personal things popped up, lost all motivation, and became a fat slob. Great routines and Billy is the man! Pizza is the best. Thanks for the kind words. I'll miss her, but no more pain for her either.

Today was a pretty good day. Woke up to this:

4 inches of snow. Everything was thus shut down. I live in a state that barely gets snow, when we do, nobody can drive. So didn't get to do my routine. Instead I hooked my phone up to the TV, went to Youtube, and did one of the 40 minute Tae-bo deals. Had some pickle juice and made my breakfast. Which breakfast, lunch, dinner usually all look something similar to this (though more Romaine lettuce is added than present here, and save for vegetables):

Did some general house cleaning, watched a movie (Whiplash) it was pretty good. Decided to be active rather than sitting down doing nothing. So various abdominal exercises were thrown into the day's plan. Lunch. Came on here at some point and was reading up on you guys and writing to some of you. You guys inspire me quite a bit. Had one of those Meta Health Bars, raisin/oatmeal/cinnamon - wasn't too bad. Was something different that what I've originally allowed. Took the dog outside and we walked around the snow, played frisbee forever. Made everyone their dinner so all they had to do was heat it up. Wasn't tempted at all to eat those tater tots or hamburger. That was nice. Fast forward through some gallivanting and here I am now. Back to work tomorrow as the snow melted over the course of the day. I'm a routine kind of person so I hate when things are disturbed like that, but I did well and stuck to my guns. Tuesday's weigh in should be interesting.

Bring Friday on!

"It is not enough to take steps which may some day lead to a goal; each step must be itself a goal and a step likewise." -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

You and I are similar in regards to losing motivation due to personal things going on. Late 2013 was brutal for me and then something happened in early 2014 where I just lost my motivation. It did me no favors and even though I kept thinking about how far ahead I'd be if I got back on track, it didn't help. I just wasn't feeling it. BUT, the past is the past. We're here now and moving forward to reach our goals. It sounds like you're WELL on your way so keep it up! :)

Also well aware of life getting in the way of living. That's one of the things I hate most about winter - no working out, you have to shovel snow. No playing with the kids because I need to clear the roof. No sleeping in because you need to wait in line for gas or food or whatever else.

Anyway, it's almost done, time to start planning for cookouts and picnics and vacation!

It's very rare we get snow days here because otherwise we'd never work/go to school all winter long! Sounds like a good day though.

Jen_Renee - thanks! Saw your art, by the way, amazing talent you have.

Thank you! :)

Sounds like you're doing good! And I agree with everyone else... spring needs to hurry up!

The mention of Tae-Bo always reminds of doing the early videos as a teenager, when Billy wore the lovely spandex bodysuit. It was a tad distracting. haha!

I´ve been ready for spring for weeks, bring it on!

Time changes here tonight!!! I'm stoked it will be staying light later!!! Even though I do outdoor stuff year around in Florida, it's nice to be able to go play golf during the week after work. That's my cue to play more golf. In the winter you have to do all your fun outdoor stuff on the weekends and I can't get it all in. Now I'll be able to do it all!!!

Today was kind of cool, overcast and low 70s. Wind blowing. The only bad part of summer coming is the heat and humidity. Lots of water and sunscreen is your only defense.

Ah yes, daylight saving time... I think the changing back and forth is annoying and useless but Vienna is so far east of the timezone it´s clinging to that dst is actually the better fit.

I'm with you on daylight savings time. So excited! I get to start walking my dogs after work again which I'm super excited about. Good exercise for me and for them. They'll be just as excited when they get back into this routine. Enjoy your golfing. I've never been.

Just realized it's been awhile since I posted here. I should make some of my own posts in here instead of always spamming your guy's diaries with my non-sense.

Today was weigh in. 279. That would normally be bad but considering where I was before, this is a good improvement and steady weight loss slightly above the recommended amount. I've been stressing about excess skin, however. So I'm going to be doing a lot more muscle building to hopefully fill out that and not have to worry too much about it. This comes off the heels of watching a video by a kid named Matt Diaz that lost 275 pounds over six years and had excessive skin. You can look it up and see. Inspiration stuff, he did a kickstarter to raise money for a surgery and got it within a day I think. While that was awesome and what I want for myself (weight loss) it got me worried for the first time about excess skin. No way in hell I'm going to be able to afford 20-30k surgery. So I'm adjusting and making plans now.

Watched a ton of the March Madness this past weekend. Awesome games. I will not be winning any money I don't think. Oh well, at least it was fun and some more great games are coming.

Saw the movie Seventh Son. Not bad if you like those types of movies. Heavy on the effects and CGI.

That is all for now.

Firstly, LOVE the title of your diary! Such a funny scene :rotflmao: Sometimes I'll find some really old clothes that I happened to hold on to from my high school days optimistically thinking I'd fit into it, only to find when I put it on, it's much too small and I can't help but sing that song and dance every time, haha!

Congrats on your loss so far! Your determination is really inspiring and it seems like you have a great attitude as well, which are both keys to success in this journey :) I also wanted to comment on how freaking awesome your workouts sound. I LOVE working out with sledgehammers!!! I feel like such a badass!!! I don't do it often, but a friend of mine (who is in great shape) showed me this workout where you walk in a squat, butt as low as you can get it, swinging 2 sledgehammers (one in each hand) around in front of you as you walk. Not like swinging willy-nilly, you should have control of them, so your arms are getting a crazy workout as well. I did that with him down his driveway once and my god, I was sore for a week, but damn once I recovered from that, I felt so much stronger! I'll have to try some of your routine (if I can!)

Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say "hello"! :waving:

You're doing great man!!! I wouldn't worry much about skin at this point. It may not be an issue. I lost a lot of weight years ago and I didn't have any issue with it. Of course, I was a lot younger then. I'm just going to tackle one thing at a time. If that's a problem, that would be an OK problem to deal with at that time. It means I was successful. Building muscle will certainly help that if it is an issue.

Welcome back to your own diary!

Dinna see your age or height, but like Bug said, don't worry about the skin, especially if you're weighing in at the same as what Diaz lost. I have to think with your workout regime, you're probably young enough that your skin still has some elasticity!

Weight training actually seems to improve skin elasticity. Swimming may do the same. But mainly it depends on genetics and eating nutrient-rich food while losing weight. Filling all the old skin with muscle is pretty much impossible to do in a healthy manner. But as the smart people above say: don´t worry about it, it may never become a problem.

Good to see you post in your diary. Don't consider offering your support to be spamming. I love getting support in my diary, so please post away! :)

As for the excess skin, yes that's a worry I have as well, but I'm trying not to focus on that. I just want to be healthy above anything else. We're all human and even though it's hard to believe, not one person has the perfect body. Flaws make us who we are and in our cases, it will also show how strong we are for achieving the goals we've worked so hard to achieve. Be proud of yourself! :)

That steady weight loss, that's really something to be proud of, steady progress is the best progress! Hope you're doing well! Great job!
