Ew. It just won't go away.

Hello! :) First of all I am 17 year old girl. I am happy with my weight and everything. The thing is I have a little flab that I can't really seem to shake off in the normal evil places like triceps, stomach, and thighs. I work out 4 days a week for about an hour and I am a healthy eater (at least I think.) It's a dvd that I follow, the workout is light weights with a lot of reps and I really work up a sweat. I've been doing it for about two months and haven't noticed anything. I am just asking for advice, I don't really know if the workout I am doing is right for me. I definitley don't want to be buff, just want to loose some body fat. What would you suggest?

Tracking/logging your calories is a great start.

Yeah, try and keep a count of the calories you're taking in, I have the calculation required for daily intake on my blog What workouts are you doing at the gym? Is it primarily weight training? If so, incorporate areobic exercises.

If you've been doing the same DVD for 2 months, I'd say it's time to shake things up a bit. Your body needs to be shocked every now and then with new exercise. I'm guessing the DVD is getting a bit easier? As much as it's nice for things to become easier, once this happens it's time to make things hard again :p Is this skin that's flabby? or fat?

yes i agree with above been said
seeing you followed the dvd for 2 months seems like you need to go for a more intense workout giving that tear and repair :)
what kind of legs/triceps/stomach exercises do you do?

With calories I aim to eat under 1,200. That is a good idea to start logging them. Thank you stingo and trainer!

It's a curcuit workout (the dvd is Jillian from the biggest loser and it's burning trouble zones or something like that.) It focuses everywhere and you do 2 cuircuts of the exercise. It really focuses of abs, tricepes, thighs which is what I like about it.

Nicolaw - yeah I guess it's getting easier but it still kicks my butt. :p I think it's flabby fat. lol.

The exercises vary, it's a lot of lunges, squats, along with basic lifts and moves.

I was wondering if running would be a better option for burning fat, because I do enjoy to run.

Thank you all. :)

I do some jillian michael's dvd's as well :) They're good. But I definantly don't do them every day. I mean, you can make it harder for yourself, do advanced versions of the exercises and maybe do it 2 times in a row or something. How long does it go for? Is it only 30 mins like the ones i have?
Also with your calories, your supposed to eat a MINIMUM of 1200 cals a day, so going too much under might be dangerous, you'll slow down your metabolism.

By tracking I mean weighing everything that goes into your mouth. Other measurement methods (e.g., 0.5 cup etc) give a bit too much leeway for error.

Oh I see. So I would weigh everything? That's interesting, I have never heard of that.

Yeah, I enjoy doing the dvd. It's a 55 minute workout including the 5 minute warm-up amd 5 minute cool-down and I do it every other day. I was thinking of getting another one of hers also.

Oh no, I definitely don't want to slow down the metabolism, lol thank you.

Would running for an hour be a better way to burn fat than what I'm doing now?

Or alternate running and Jullian along with other various workout videos I have?
