:seeya: So, since I've enjoyed reading a lot of your diaries/journeys since I've joined I thought I'd add my own in.

For those of you who don't know anything about me check out my Welcome Thread http://weight-loss.fitness.com/newcomers/46585-hi-everyone.html

Just a little back story

Basically after spending the majority of my life (since about age 9) always a little heavier and being overweight through most of my adult life I recently decided to make an active change and do something about it. I never really had issues with my weight or how I looked before because even though I was aware I was heavy and overweight, I always still felt good about myself for the most part, or so I thought.

Recently in addition to being tired of always being the big girl or the chubby girl, I've started to have stomach/digestion problems (eww gross I know ;)) and this also helped me realise that a healthier lifestyle would probably help me in more ways that just weight.

I have a Girls Vegas trip coming up at the end of May (we go every few years) and this year I decided I didn't want to be the chubby girl in the group. I didn't want to be overheated constantly from the walking, have aching feat so I can barely stand and I want to have fun in cute dresses and heels - (well I'd always wear the cute dresses, but I'm constantly in flats, I just dont think my tiny feet can handle the weight in heels haha).

I think basically it just gave me a long term goal to work towards. In general I'm just working on slowly changing my lifestyle to a more healthy way, eating better foods, watching my calories and exercising a lot more.

At the beginning of January I started at 211lbs (I'm 5'3) and I had a rough goal of around 165-175 by the end of May - but I wasn't dead set on that, it was just a general number. Eventually I'd like to get to around 150, but again I don't have any real set goal weight, just working on making changes for a healthier life and see where it takes me.

Aside from just chatting about my journey and posting my food journal I'm not sure what else I'll be putting here - but I think having a new place to talk about all this would be a nice outlet :)

I'm currently at 191.2lbs :)

Just a bit about me in general:

I'm a 28 year old single gal who lives with her cat (ohhh the cliches ;)). I work as an Administrative/Office Assistant in downtown Vancouver, Canada and enjoy all the regular young single gal activities - dancing, movies, tv, music, going out drinking with friends (def have had to limit that a bit :p).

I attached a few recent-ish pictures of me as well. The first one is just a month or so before I started all this and the second is me last weekend with a friend (I'm the blonde ;)) and the last picture is the only recent-ish full body picture I have of me it was just before Christmas.

So that's about it for my first post. I don't expect them all to be this long and, yes, very boring :p but I wanted to get all this out of the way - and really its' hard not to ramble once you get going haha.

Hope to get to know a lot of you better, so far I'm really enjoying being a part of this forum :D

Just to catch up here's a bit of my Food/Exercise Journal from the past week. Man Valentine's made it hard to make good decisions - so many treats!

I do count calories as best I can and try and keep it between 1200-1400 but I'm not really concerned it some days are more and some are at the lower end as long as I'm not hungry and getting all those good for me lean proteins, veggies and whole grains :) I didn't add the calories here though - borrrring ;)

I also have a gazelle for my exercise. I didn't have the space or extra cash for an elliptical like I wanted so this will have to do. If I really push myself on it it seems to be a good work out for me and it's giving me results so I'll keep using it as long as I think it's doing some good :)

- I know I'll be out drinking tonight so I'm trying to keep my calories down a bit to make up for it but keep it with protein and some good whole grains, not sure what I"ll have for dinner yet though.

So just a little off this week, but it happens. I need to watch my salt/processed food intake a bit. That's one thing I sort of let go when trying to watch other things like calories but I know I'm getting too much in my diet.

GIRL!!! -20lbs!!! That's fantastic!! We started at the same time and I WISH I had lost that much!! You're doing great!!

And hunny, hot damn you are a babe!! Just think- you'll be able to strut your sexy stuff in vegas in cute shoes and a short dress!!

You sound like you're so much fun!

I can't wait not to be the fat girl in our group! I also can't wait to go out dancing and feel comfortable, and not conscious that I'm the chubby girl busting a move on the dance floor!

I bet your friends notice a difference! -20lbs is fantastic! I'm going to have to kick it in high gear now!! :)

Yay thank you sooo much :) I have no idea what happened the last two weeks but the weight just fell off. I don't expect it to keep doing that but it's a nice motivator for sure :D

And yes, we definitely both are no longer going to be the chubby girl in the group but we'll bust out all fit and awesome on the dance floor - we can do it!!

As long as I have this forum and you great people as motivators I know we can get there :D:D

WOW! Awesome start! Keep it up!

Thanks so much TikTak!!!

So here's the rest of my day yesterday and so far today -

February 19, 2011
- baked half tomato with parmesan
- whole grain flat bun with laughing cow cheese, hard boiled egg and salsa
- piece of imitation crab
- smart ones frozen dinner (beef and veggie)
- whole grain crackers with tuna (just lemon and pepper) and salsa
- lots of drinks! (yikes - but I did plan on this and except for a sugary shot and one vodka orange juice I stuck to vodka soda/seltzer all night and danced my ass off ;))
1 hour on gazelle

February 20, 2011 - so far :)
- sugar free jello cup
- chicken soup with half whole grain flat bun
- I'm going to the Keg for dinner tonight with my family so I know it'll be a bit of a splurge but I usually will just get the chicken or lean cut of steak with grilled prawns and mashed potatoes and even before all this I would never eat more than half (yay leftovers!) so as long as I'm careful with any appetizers and drinks I should be ok :)
aiming for at least 30-45 min on gazelle

I know it's bad not to have breakfast but I tend to sleep right through it on the weekend (oops) so that's why my weekend meals are missing breakfast. I will usually just have lunch when I get up.

Here we go on another week!! :D:D

I'm just like you! lately i've been sleeping right through breakfast and waking up to eat around 11am! But hey, sometimes you need to sleep ;)

Your food sounds sooooooooooooooooooooo good! I LOOOOOVE broiled tomatos! They are so yummy!!

I literally drooled over your food!! hehe

Keep up the great work chica! Hope Monday treats you well!

Hey welcome to the forum and congrats on the 20lbs so far!! I love your attitude and your dedication - keep it up and you will forsure meet your goals. We are the same age and I started around 224 - I've been at this for a few years now and I've been around 150 for the longest time - always trying to get the last 10 or so pounds off. Most days are still a struggle but a good friend told me once that you can't fail if you never give up so that is what I have lived by.
I look forward to reading more and following you along as you reach your goals. I live in Canada too but far away in Ontario. I'm also an admin assistant so we have lots in common!
Keep it up!!!:seeya:

Thanks for the welcome :D It's hard not to have a great attitude on this forum, everyone is super sweet and supportive- it really helps. Congrats on losing all that weight, that's phenomenal!! "You can't fail if you never give up" has so been my motto during this. I figure as long as I put the effort in best I can and keep it up then I won't fail and so far it's working :)

It's nice to meet a fellow Canadian admin assistant :D Thanks for the supportive message and best of luck with your last 10 pounds!!

Just food and such from the last two days :)

-February 20, 2011
- sugar free jello cup
- chicken noodle soup - maybe a cup and a half
- whole grain flat bread toast - 1 piece
- Then I went to town at dinner :p - but I was looking forward to this dinner for a while and I'm about a splurge now and then, plus I didn't end up doing too badly.
- 1 small glass of red wine
- two small crackers with goat cheese and salsa
- (probably too many) tempura green beans and asparagus
- half my ahi tuna with about a quarter cup mashed potatoes and asparagus
- half a piece of bread - no butter
* 45 min on gazelle

February 21, 2011
- whole grain flat bread with 2 tbsp peanut butter
- maybe quarter cup of mixed nuts
- whole grain flat bread with tomato onion tuna
- veggies (carrots, cherry tomatos, snap peas)
- half cup of blueberries
- one gummy ring candy
- leftover tuna piece with quarter-half cup mashed potatoes and asparagus
* 1 hour on gazelle

So not too bad I figure - probably could have done without the bread and extra tempura veggies at the dinner out, but they were delicious so I went for it ;) All about balance, I find I do better if I let myself indulge now and then and then be a little more careful after with what I eat.

Not too much exciting going on here with me lately, been more tired than usual but maybe just a lot on my mind (nothing big, just stuff I guess :p) and dealing with other friends problems is taking a bit of a toll on me, but I`m sure I`ll survive ;) Just makes it a bit harder to drag my butt out of bed in the morning and then that first part of my workout in the evening takes a while to get into but once I`m going I`m ok so that`s good :)

I tried to eat a bit more carefully today because I went back to my old (and very odd) habit of eating gummy candy in the middle of the night. I don`t know where this craving comes from and you`d think it would be easier to just roll over and go back to sleep but for some reason i can`t. Mind you at least it was just two small 45 calorie bags, but still - scared me that I did it again - I used to do it almost every night... weird i know :p

February 22, 2011
Breakfast was from the mexican place in my work buildings food fair. The lady there is super awesome and does all her burritos and wraps without the tortilla if you want so I can get a yummy scramble and it`s deeeeelish!

- scrambled eggs with lots of salsa and bit of shredded cheese
- weight watchers whole grain mini wrap with 4 thin slices turkey, cut up cherry tomatoes and tzatziki sauce - yums!
- carrots and snap peas with the leftover tzatziki sauce
- 5 teddy grahams (I was unusually ravenous around 3pm today)
- chicken noodle soup - about 2 cups (dinner was just random leftovers and things I had been craving)
- broiled tomato with parmasan
- broccoli florets with some sort of wasabi lime drizzle I made (all very random but delicious)

Also did 1 hour on the gazelle and some random strength exercises and crunches and such . I just do whatever and don`t really keep track or reps or anything - tho I should really get into that habit so I can build up, etc.

Well done so far!!! You are doing really great. When is your next weigh in? Are you doing it weekly? :)

even though the weight loss may well slow down you'll still lose loads for your trip to Vegas!

:seeya:

You're doing a great job!!! Keep it up!! Even if you slip up to your old habits, don't worry! They can be hard to break sometimes, but if you keep up the good eating and exercising, you'll break them and see fantastic results!!

Regardless of that, you're working so hard and doing awesome :D

Sorry to hear that you're a bit stress...Stress is never easy to deal with. Hopefully you'll be able to ease the stress soon. You seem like a good friend! It can be hard always being the shoulder for your friends- so take care :)

Thanks Miss Charlie :) Yeah I figure if I keep it up no matter what happens by Vegas-time I'll be feeling a heck of a lot better than i do from all the exercise and good eating so it can only get better :) I do my weigh-ins when I get up on Saturdays. I try and do it the same time every week :)

Thanks Jill :) Yeah as much as the old habits scare me I know I want this enough to keep it up and all the good I've been doing means a little slip up now and then won't derail me :D Thanks again for your support - hope you're feeling a bit better!!

I'm having a little trouble this week not snacking or craving my old foods so things post-lunch time are always a little iffy with me but I'm trying to stay on track as best I can. I only got part of my workout done because I have a group of friends coming over for a movie night soon - hopefully they don't expect snacks - I don't have much left in the apartment haha.

Oh and tacked onto last nights food was a bag of 100 cal fat free microwave popcorn with a bit of dill pickle seasoning

February 23, 2011
- special k cereal with low cal yogurt and a handful of blueberries
- 1/4 cup mix nuts
- whole grain mini wrap with 3 slices turkey, diced tomatoes and tzatziki sauce
- baby carrots and snap peas
- 5 teddy grahams (again with the 3pm hunger attack - hmmmm)
- one chocolate (I've been saving this for like 2 weeks now and finally decided to have it - it was pretty darned good - I savored it ;))
- quesadilla made with 2 mini whole grain wraps, hot banana peppers and light mozza-cheddar with 3 tbs fresh salsa (I used to have a way high cal version of this with loads of cheese and chicken and a sour cream guacamole so this was my low cal version and it was pretty tasty :))
- half medium tomato broiled with parm (I'm addicted!)
- cheese string

And just finished 45 minutes on the gazelle - even if I had more time I'm not sure I could do more today.. my butt muscles are burning today haha :p

Wow you are chugging right along! Good job! You are gonna look fabulous for Vegas! You already dress and look very nice :)

So I didn`t plan on it but today ended up being meatless Thursday. This morning I found my self unusually hungry though. Usually oatmeal fills me up most out of my breakfasts but an hour after eating it today I was starving again. Maybe the lack of sleep again...

February 24, 2011
- reduced sugar oatmeal with blueberries
- one multi grain corn thin with half tbsp peanut butter
- one purdy`s chocolate (dang it! - but it did keep me going until lunch)
- light vegetable soup (Smart Ones brand I forget which one) (2 cups)
- 10 low fat vegetable thin crackers
- baby carrots and half sliced medium tomato
- broccoli florets with wasabi lime drizzle
- scrambled chive egg beaters (made with a bit of hot sauce) with a bit of light mozza-cheddar cheese and salsa

I ate a bit lighter for dinner - mostly because I was hungry and wanted something quick but also I`ve been hungry a little later on again so this gives me a bit of leeway to have a small snack in a few hours post-workout.

Plan on doing an hour on the gazelle and hopefully my buns are feeling a bit better today :p

I noticed a bunch of the Jillian Michaels DVDs at the bookstore in my building today for pretty cheap - anyone have any thoughts. I read through a bunch of related threads here and seemed mixed. I don`t care about her really I just want something to mix up my workout now and then. Maybe I`ll talk another look tomorrow... it can`t hurt :)

A friend is doing her dvd's and she says she really like them. I haven't ever tried them.. because i don't really like her either especially since she started putting her name on everything. I like bob better but I don't watch the show much lol

Doing great :) Keep it up!

Thank you :D Yeah I don`t actually watch the show either - but out of pure convenience (that they`re cheap, easy for me to get) and that I`m looking for something to mix things up a bit it seems like it`s worth a try :)
