Im starting a new diary!

I am starting fresh because I feel like I am more committed, and I wanted a fresh start after a few stuff ups.

Introduction On Me
I am eighteen years old and live in Tasmania, Australia. I finished up school last year and have been working full time in an advertising agencey for 5 months now. I have never been overweight, for most of my childhood I was underweight - but incredibly unhealthy. I have recently had a wake up call - a visit to my dentist (I need 9 fillings and two teeth capped) and a low bone density diagnosis from my doc - which could lead to osteoporosis.

My plan of action! Rid LOTS of sugar out of my diet! Also, take a caltrate calcium supplement every day (I am lactose intolerant, dairy makes me really sick).

I would also like to lose a bit of weight.

Sorry i should be more specific, I would like to lose FAT

My body fat % is 22% at the moment. I would like to be around 17%, but my goal at the moment is 54.0kg. I started off weighing 62kg, and now weight 58.3kg. I have had a bit of criticism about my weight loss goal, but I have visited a weight loss advisor at my gym, and we agreed that 54kg was a good goal.

Oh yeah, and I wanna get FIT!. I plan on walking a half marathon up a mountain in November, and I would like to be able to do it without dieing!

To accomplish this I am:
Walking for 40 minutes EVERY DAY
Either in the morning or at night, this includes hills.

Doing strength training at the gym TWICE a week
Free weights, machines and stretching

Doing cardio at the gym THREE-FOUR times a week
For 40 minutes

The exercise plan might sound extreme - but I love doing it. It makes me feel so much better when I do, and I sleep better.

I am not worrying TOO much about my diet. I want to exercise to lose fat, rather than severly restricting my calories.

1300 calories a day
ONE treat meal a week
ONE day breakfast is the biggest meal of the day
EAT every 3-4 hours

Pre Brekkie:

1/3 Cup Oats
1/3 Cup Milk
1/3 Cup Water
1 Tbsp Honey

Snack:
Apple

Lunch:
Minestrone Soup

Snack:
Mini Maltesers (16g) + small tin tuna

Dinner:
Grilled Chicken with salad or vegies

GYM
40 Minutes Cardio OR Weights

I allow myself a little treat each day.. I will never be able to cut out sugar completly.

I also will probably have 1 tea with skim milk and equal throughout the day. Also 2L of water.

I Just want to be comfortable again, not have my love handles and flabby bits. I want to be 100% comfortable with my boyfriend, not so self concious. I want to feel GOOD when I wake up, I want this to be a LIFESTYLE change, not just a diet.


My Mini Goals

58.0kg - Buy a new eyeshadow (splurge on a dior or chanel one :drooling: )
56.0kg - New shoes! Desperatly need them, so thats extra motivation to get to my goal!
54.0kg - Spring Shopping!

I want to be at my goal by October 7, this is 6 or 7 weeks away. I would like to at least come close. I want to go shopping and be able to buy size 8's and be comfortable in them. So I am not buying ANY clothes until I reach my goal!

I am open to criticism! If there is something i could be doing better I wanna hear it!

I will probably update once or twice a day :D

Has been a good day so far, oats really filled me up this morning! Havent been raelly feeling hungry all day which is good.

Decided to wear heels today! Havent done it in 5 months, so its feeling weird! Im liking it though, I think when I buy my clothes I will have to get some more heels too.

My boyfriend Alex is coming over tonight, so I wont get to do any cardio. Hopefully we'll get up in the morning and go for a walk, if he's lazy I might just leave him in bed and go myself! Ha.

Next Weigh in: Monday 27 August
Goal Weight: 57.3kg


I lost 1.5kg this week... so hopefully I could lose 1kg. I wont be disapointed if I dont however, I would like to be under 58kg though! Then I can go buy eyeshadow woot!

Wednesday 22 August - Night

So Wednesday didnt go so well. I was so full that when i got home I had a cup of soup for dinner and some trail mix. I actually felt fatter than when I started.

Watched Hot Fuzz! Was soooooooooooo funny I loved it. Went to bed pretty early, at around 10:00pm.

I didnt eat much though, which was good. That muffin was around 500 calories!
 
Thursday 23 August

This is a lot of exercise, I just havent been doing very well over the past few days with my food, so doing exercise puts my mind at ease. Im just trying to do something to fix it.

Its a bit chilly today! Im wearing my fingerless gloves in the office hehe! I dragged alex out of bed this morning and we went on a walk. Was quite nice. Was in the negative degrees celsius however lol. I forgot my lunch today! I had packed some chicken and vegies, leftovers from what the family had last night. So ill just pop down into town and grab a egg roll from my fave sushi place.

I dont want to go overboard at the gym tonight. Probably do 20 minutes walk/run, 10 minutes on the cross trainer and 15 minutes or so on the treadmill. Cause im doing two walks today, I dont really need to do a full 60 minute workout.

Its nearly Friday! Woot! Ive got a pretty big weekend coming up, so im exited! on saturday night Im getting a cookies and cream ice cream as a treat! Just one scoop, then going to see the American comedian Arj Barker. Should be heaps of fun...

I have sqillions of songs but these are the only ones I like to work out too! I might look into buying some sort of compilation with different artists. Time goes SO much quicker when im walking/running if I am listening to something good!

I would probably get through a whole magazine in one 30 minute walk on the treadmill haha.
My faves are: Cosmopolitan, Instyle, Cleo, NW, ANYTHING that i can get my hands on really.
I also like reading Mens Health strangely haha...

Slim. Toned. Tanned.

I CAN achieve the first 2! Summer is coming up so maybe might get a bit tanned, or could always fake it! Which is a lot better for my skin!

I just dont want anything to wobble anymore, I want long slim legs and a toned belly!

Stepped on the scales this morning! The screen read 58.6kg :( I suppose thats not too bad, I had a pretty big loss last week. I only change my ticker once a week so I'll see what I am on Monday. Im gonna work my butt off this weekend! Im hoping I am around 58.0kg, even a little under would be great.

I completed all my exercise yesterday! I got up at 6:30am this morning and went on my walk, im feeling OK now, wasnt feeling too great this morning.

My clothes still feel a little tight...
Its like I cant see that I have lost ANY weight.
Maybe it will start to show around 56.0kg?

We have a morning tea this morning, so if there is some healthy food it might also be my lunch. I have brought a banana and muesli bar too.

Goal for today: Complete my exercise for today! Eat healthily!

Thats really my goal every day :rolleyes:

I had some chocolate last night, about 800kj worth :( eek.

And i've had a massive fight with my boyfriend at lunch. Im sick of him treating me like crap... he never greets me with a smile and he didnt even look me in the eye once. In one whole hour he didnt even kiss me. I didnt want to, he swore at me so many times. Im just really sick of it. I buy him SO much stuff, and he never thanks me or shows any appreciation. He wont even write back to my texts.

So yes, very angry at the moment, was actually sitting there thinking "why am I with him again?"

And I feel like crap.

Saturday 25 August

Friday night didnt go so well.

For dinner I had a small bowl of corn chips with no fat cream cheese and salsa - not so bad.

THEN

I had 1 mini mars bar
a bowl of red rock deli chips
and one piece of pizza



I suppose it could have been worse...

I bought a 10kg weight set at kmart last night. It comes with 1 bar, 2 1.25kg weights and 2 2.5kg weights. I didnt realise it only had one bar... there was a 20kg weight set there with two. So i might take it back and get the 20kg set...

Got up at 8:45am this morning, ever since I started working I havent been able to sleep in! its been weird.

To make up for last night I am going to do three hours of exercise today. In about 30 minutes I will go on a hour and a half walk, then in the afternoon I will go to the gym and do cardio for an hour and a half. Tonight is ice cream night! So im gonna have to work hard so I can have it.

Oats with vanilla essence and a lil bit honey

Egg on toast

Spaghetti on toast

Dinner:
I'll be at Alex's... or we could be getting subway Im not sure...

I went to the gym and did:
20 Minutes Eliptical - 220 calories
20 Minutes Walking - 170 caloies
20 Minutes bike - 270 calories


I came home and had a weeny bit of pizza.. i also had 2 bites of my mums burger king burge - whoops!

THEN I went for a BIG walk, up to the top of the creek where there are these little pools. Took about 70 minutes there and back. It was so sunny, I just sat there for ages. My knee was hurting too, and the water is very cold because it runs off the mountain (snow water), so i put some on my knee and it seemed to help.

So far today I have done 2 Hours and 10 Minutes exercise.

I am walking into town today to go see Arj Barker, so that should take about 45-50 minutes. So I will have done 3 hours! I want to do the same again tomorrow, I really hope the weather stays good.

When I came back from my walk I had some corn chips with no fat cream cheese and salsa. Im still kinda hungry but it is 4:20pm so I may as well wait another 2 hours until dinner.

Dinner will be:
Chicken Breast with Salad or Vegies.

Dessert will be:
Cookies and cream ice cream (treat for this week!)

With all the extra exercise I have been doing this week, I reckon I could be under 58.0kg by monday...

Ditch him! I'm serious. When I was young I put up with that crap b/c I didn't think I deserved to be treated well. Now I'm older and wiser, and respect myself, and require my partner to do the same. Sounds like he is using you. It also sounds like you feel that you need to buy his love. You are better off alone than with someone like that. :hug2: :hug2:

You are doing fine with your weight loss plan. One thing, though--if you can read a magazine while on the tread mill, you're probably not working out wiht enough intensity. It is better to spend 30min on the tread mill at a higher level than 50min at a moderate pace. Best of all is to mix it up throughout your workout. There is a great article on the first sticky of the Harsh Truth section called how to gain fat. I have found it to be very helpful, and I highly recommend it.

Hope your having a great weekend, and enjoyed seeing that comedian. Hope you laughed so much you dropped a kilo..:rotflmao: Now drop the BF..lol:) :hug2: :hug2: :hug2:

I get bored on the treadmill though! And my ipod only entertains me for so long! I dont think I could walk any faster either, im usually doing 7km/hour on a 7% incline... I really should do some of the interval programs on it though...

Thanks for the advice on the boyfriend.. Im not sure what to do, its either incredibly perfect and great or incredibly shitty. Its less shitty nowadays, but also makes it hard cause we have such extremes. We've been together 15 months, so we're gonna try and work on stuff.

I hope I laugh a lot tonight! He is really funny on his DVD, I just hope hes the same in person haha!

I hope you ended up going! I know it sucks getting ready to exercise, but after I go I always feel better. I hope you're in a better mood now : ).
 
I did end up going!

I did 20 Minutes on the Eliptical
And a 20 Minute walk on 6.5km per hour with a 4% incline.

I was feeling too stuffed to do anymore

I went grocery shopping!
I got wholemeal bread, lettuce, cranberry sauce and turkey breast for a sandwich for lunch tomorrow!

I bought frozen raspberries (none fresh atm) to have in my oats tomorrow!

Bought 2 bananas and 2 apples for snacks

Bought 2 bottles of sugar free creaming soda

So tomorrow I'll have a turkey sandwich for lunch, an apple and a muesli bar for a snack.

In GREATER news, i now fit into a skirt that I bought very comfortably! Im thinking my thighs have gotten slimmer... not so much anything off my hips though. My stomach is looking flatter too. I've been on the diet for about a month now.. and i'm feeling good!

Man I totally lost track after you started your new diary. I've been busy but now I'll try to keep up. Sorry about your bf problems. Talking things over like adults always works, but remember YOU come first, so never do anything that doesn't benefit you. I'm glad to see you hit your goal.
