Elizab3th's Diary : 'Running Away From Fat'

Diet Dreams?

Is it just me or does anybody else have very vivid dreams when they're dieting - I don't go to bed hungry but I just can't stop dreaming and half the time it's about food or something really bad! And is it true that eating a spicy meal boosts your metabolism? It makes sense - so will a little dash of tabasco make my V8 even better? And last but not least - I know that there's no real way to get rid of stratch marks, loose skin, etc. but what is the best creams out there that will help to atleast tighten it a bit? I've tried a couple cheap ones and I know they don't work but I don't want to spend the cash on something expensive that won't either - just looking for some success stories here - hopefully there are some! Happy Weekend everyone! Everything's happy to me! Haha - I hope all my ladies make this weekend really count.. I know I will! I'm always fighting my cravings though because I used to eat terribly - so really this is like a total 180 for me and it is a huge diet. I dream of cupcakes and doritos and fatty things all day long. And trust me - there's nibbling in between those meals! Not too much, I make sure it's not enough to ruin my diet but I give myself the room also - that way it isn't totaly dieting.. thanks NTL I know what you mean! Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg w/ 1 pc. of toast (nobutter) - heading to subway for lunch probably again!

dreams...oh dont get me started! Yep, on occasion, I dream so vividly that I wake up feeling guilty!

And I have to find extra determination on the weekends...turned down two invitations with friends to eat drink and be merry last night. No thanks! I wish friends would be more supportive! Well, they mean well, and just want to socialize, but Id rather look great this summer, frankly! Ive got a wedding to go to!:D

and subway sounds GOOD! before buckling down, I used to say 'eh' to it, but now it sounds like a treat!

I know what you mean! Friends can be a killer! But the way I think of it is - I'm going to get the opportunity to go out with them anytime so why not just keep up the diet and then I can go out with them sooner and be slimmer! That's really what I look forward to - although I know I'd have to keep some changes I've made like the healthier eating and that. Whatever.. haha..

I'll agree its such a downer to go out with friends that aren't watching what they eat (won't use the D word, because its a lifestyle change!)... but if you have a friend that is also watching, they're the best ones to go out with because you both understand, and can do something that doesn't involve going to a restraunt or snacking the whole time. For the rest, try and go out with them when they do something non-eaty, like bowling (okay maybe that's a little nerdy, but I love bowling!), or go to a movie, and just subtly skip the snacks.

I wish I had someone to go out with! Nobody I know is prepared to do what I'm doing - the diet and all... anyways today:
Calories - Protein - Fat - Carbs - Fiber - Sodium
740.4 - 73.4 - 23.2 - 58.4 - 13.9 - 1,510.0
I have eaten - 1 scrambled egg w/ 1 pc. toast - smoked turkey and tomato sandwich - V8 - BBQ Salmon Tip - 15 baby carrots
well I'm only at the V8 right now.. I have to throw an extra snack in there that's low-fat, any ideas? I haven't exercised at all today! I feel like I've wasted the day - I really want to get to the elliptycal though... damn. So lazy!

Oh, I'm right there with ya. I feel so lazy today. I have sit here all day (I guess that part can't be helped) and done nothing! Oh well, we need lazy days every once in awhile! We deserve it! :D

Hey hun!! I wish I lived closer I'd go out with ya!! Anyway.. Your doing awesome!! I'm sure your gonna be out of the 50's in no time!!

Hey Girl Your Doing Great And I Know You Can Do This Your Strong And Dont Forget It! We Are Here For You Do Not Give Into Temptation And Maybe Try A Lean Cuisine Or Weight Watcher Type Pizza So You Dont Feel Neglecting!

I really wish I could but we're short on cash until the end of the month because we bought a new furniture set and drained ourselves haha... so whatever we buy for groceries has to be for all of us to share - they can be so expensive sometimes! I can't wait to be out of the 50s! That would be a first for me... because I've lost this weight before but gave up one week in (so ofcourse gained it back) - I've never worked my way down into the 40s.. I will feel so good - I just talked to an old friend of mine from high school, she wants to meet up with me but last time we hung out I wasn't this size. So now I have more to motivate me and work harder. I did all my weight lifting for the day so I can take the day off tomorrow - I did a little Tae Bo too (and a little bootyshakin round my room), anything to get my heart rate up so I feel a lot better about today now! - I also munched on a piece of garlic bread so thank god I saved room for some more calories because I definately filled it. I think I'll meet her next weekend - then I can give myself enough time to really pump up the workouts and make sure I'm losing just as steadily as I have been. I really want to lose this weight.

I don't want to be a downer, but I don't know if you'll keep dropping pounds like you have been. I certainly hope you do, but its often the first couple weeks that are the easiest, and then it gets harder. So don't blame yourself if it happens, okay? It happens to all of us :)

Either way, I'm so proud of you for doing what you've done so far! :D

I know - there's someone saying that in the back of my head too but I just shut him up - I'm in la la land - it's so pretty here...

Elisabeth, enjoy the loss, but like Beagle says, don't let yourself get discauraged if it does not happen in the future.

But, if you stay here on the forum, we won't let you!

Have a good day!

Hey elizab3th,

Sounds like your diong EXCELLENT on your workouts and eating. You have got this down to the T. keep it up and and a great one.

Hi Elizab3th :D popin in for a peeksy :D Looks like you are doin' GREAT! keep it up :D

Calories - Protein - Fat - Carbs - Fiber - Sodium
844.7 - 59.2 - 16.4 - 122.1 - 34.5 - 2,715.2
I have eaten... banana, 15 baby carrots, tuna and tomato sandwich, slice of smoked turkey, 6" Subway Club w/ cheese + light mayo, V8, diet coke. I'm feeling good about today other than the fact that I did no exercise - that sucked. My back is so sore though, I did my weights lazily last night and I think I hurt myself. So that teaches me to do a half fast job. I've got the rest of the day though - need to go buy some more fruit... I have nothing to fill those last couple hundred calories I need... Does anybody know how much protein you are supposed to take a day? What's too much?

Hey elizab3th. For protein, the RDA is about 55 grams for a person your size. Thats about a 6 oz steak. For someone who is working out and building muscle as you are... I would suggest having a bit more. To much protein is hard to quantify. I would say that with a low fat high protein meat such as chicken breast w/o the skin.... as long as your not going over what you should be having calorie wise, knock yourself out. I like the 40/30/30 concept of a balanced diet too where 30% of your Cal's com from protein but I like to do a bit more like a 30/20/50, where less than 30% comes from carbs, 20% from fats and 50% from proteins, but thats just me. Hope that helps.

It gets to confusing I find when I try to work it out - I mean how do you always know? ... the nutritional information doesn't tell you what percentage is what... or does it (am I missing something?) - I like to keep it not as complicated, counting calories is big enough of a change for me from before. That helps though - thanks. Now I know to shoot for atleast 55 a day. I think I'm going to buy those lean cuisines for lunch... They're the perfect portions - I might pick up some more protein bars too. I'll stick with chocolate though.. they taste best. They are a really good snack - at 300 calories per bar, and the fact that they suppress my appetite for a long time I think they're great! Sometimes I can't get that good meat in - especially now that I'm mid-moving... my boyfriends new business is just getting off the ground (Edmonton Exteriors - listen for it Beagle!)... I love tuna though! Anybody else on that boat? I think that a tuna sandwich with just a dab of low-fat mayo in it is the best! I didn't realize before that you should eat it 3 times a week. Yay - more excuses to eat seafood!

A good bar is the "balance bar" You can get them at walmart for less than $1 each and they dont have sugar alcohols and stuff (The jury is still out on those in my mind) They are pretty filling and have about 210 cal's. They have a good balance (hence the name?) of protein, fat and carbs. "Normal" foods like Tuna are still the best way to get your proteins though.
