Dylan's Diary

Hey great job with your weight loss success!

I'm curious though, I noticed that you have a lot of sweet tea and some whey protein shakes. What is it about them that you like?

Haha, I don't drink "sweet tea" I drink "unsweetened tea". You probably read it wrong. As far as the protein shakes, I usually drink them for a good protein source, as eating a lot of meat can be very stomach filling, and I don't like to be super full because I move around a lot so it helps me feel better. Also, I like to add the protein powder into my oats. It adds protein, and also flavor to my oats. For example, I get the whey protein strawberry powder, and I add it into a bowl of oats mixed with water and a dash of milk and BOOM... Strawberry oatmeal with more protein. DELICIOUS!!!!!

Today was pretty good, and it is officially the start of week #5. Let's get into the meals for today.

Breakfast:
Oats w/ Whey Protein (1 scoop)
Unsweetened Tea

Lunch:
Grilled Chicken Salad w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette
Unsweetened Tea
Water

Snack:
2 string cheese
Water

Dinner:
Few chunks of Rotisserie Chicken w/ Franks Hot Sauce
Whole Grain Brown Rice w/ Dash of Onion powder and tiny bit of salt
Glass of Milk
Whey Protein
Small glass of orange juice

Today was a bit different. Instead of walking my dogs about 5-6 miles, I actually started running today. I haven't ran in forever! It was a pretty good feeling, and wow was it a work out, I definitely have some cardio to work on that's for sure! I think I burned about maybe a 1,000 ish calories today, it wasn't to busy of a day, so that's always nice to have a breather from work once in a while. I made up for it by running with the dogs and it was really humid out, I drank so much water.

Well, I would consider a successful day, and I was pretty much absent for the weekend. I went to a musical festival with some friends so that was always fun, and yes I didn't eat any junk food while I was at the festival (even though it was super tempting.) But, I already had my splurge meal of the week so I didn't want to have another splurge, and then it will turn into binge/ mindless unhealthy eating, which is what I'm trying to stay away from!

How wonderful that you felt like running. Don't overdo it yet as it's still hard on your knees but it's great that you're getting a feel for it!
Kudos for visiting a music festival and not succumbing to temptation

Yeah, I don't want to mess up my knees, very good point.

I'm probably going to keep on walking until I lose about 20 maybe 30 more pounds and start running more seriously. But, I feel pretty good and I think I'm definitely going to start doing little jogs here and there just to increase my physical activity a little more and such.

And yeah, it was hard to avoid because my goodness if you ever get the gust of delicious food smell at festivals, it makes you go crazy. Grilled food, sweets, anything you can think of pretty much. I seen someone eat this delicious funnel cake with chocolate covered all over it, and I was eye balling that dam funnel cake. I just left the area to avoid getting one haha.

You did very well to resist, Dylan!
Walking, with a little jog here & there is what I do too. It feels good.

I pass by a high-end bakery on my way to work...:drool5: But the smells coming from the sausage stand further down the streeton my way back are even more tempting!

Fun fact, the Olfactory nerve(smell) is the only cranial nerve that bypasses the brain stem. It's what makes smell so powerful it can wake someone up from being unconscious(and so seductive when your walking past a bakery)

Oh, temptations, temptations.... haha.

Interesting fact!

Has anyone ever put a piece of junk food in their mouth they REALLY craved, chewed it, and then spit it out to avoid consuming it, but rather just tasting it?

7/2/19

Today way my day off from work and school, and it was pretty awesome. Didn't really do much today, very dark and rainy day and didn't feel energetic today to do anything. The only thing physical I did was work on my car out in the garage and change the oil and I was sweating like a fish out of the sea because it was so hot and humid today. Let's get into the meals.

Breakfast:
Oats w/ Scoop of Peanut Butter
Unsweetened Tea

Lunch:
Bowl of Rice cooked w/ Coconut Oil, pinch of salt, dash of garlic, and scoop of butter
Unsweetened Ice Tea

Snack:
2 String Cheese

Dinner:
Boneless Chicken Breast
Peas
Whey Protein

I thought today was pretty good, wasn't the most active day, but I definitely kept busy and sweating out in the garage working on my car and stuff like that. I would probably consider this a day off to be honest. Tomorrow will be a new day, as I have work, and school. My goal by Friday is to weigh in at 350 pounds or less, so I have some work to do so I can meet that goal. I might go for a long long walk tomorrow depends on how much free time i have, and what the weather is looking like.

Yep, and I don't think its a great idea. I usually did it when I was feeling guilty about taking the bite in the first place, but I don't think it ever really helped me.

My worst story of this came from high school, I was on the wrestling team one year. Wrestlers are always trying to lose weight to make weight. One night a bunch of us wrestlers went to a pizza place, ordered pizzas and empty cups. We proceeded to eat (or chew anyway) several pizzas spitting out each bite. Looking back on it I am surprised we were not thrown out of the place, we probably should have been. It was not a satisfying experience in the least, I left hungrier and craving food more than when I arrived.

Thanks for pointing me to the TDEE calculator, I gave it a try and answered you on my diary. If you have time take a look and tell me what you think.

It looks like you did well today, I hope you make your 350 lbs by Friday, but if not you are eating better and that's what really matters.

There's a whole eating disorder that centers on chew&spit. So you're definitely not alone!

I definitely don't have a eating disorder, but yeah I googled it and found that it links to a eating disorder. People who chew and spit to avoid gaining weight. I just put something in my mouth I wasn't supposed to and realized "what the hell are you doing" and spit it out to avoid consuming it.

7/3/19

Today was another rainy day, and couldn't walk the dogs unfortunately, but I went to work and school so at least I did something today at least. Feeling like I caught a cold somehow? Maybe it's because of the cold ac in the house is making me sick. Anyways, lets get into the meals for today.

Breakfast:
Oats w/ Scoop of Peanut Butter
Unsweetened Tea

Lunch:
Grilled Chicken Salad
Unsweetened Tea

Dinner:
Home made Chicken Fajitas w/ Low Carb Tortilla shells cooked on stove burner (not fried with oil) w/ Sour Cream (unfortunately it wasn't the light version) :/
Crystal Light
Water

Pretty standard day, but I would also call it a successful day. Definitely was sweating and moving around today, so that's always good. Anyways, not much really to report other than what I ate, as today wasn't really anything special. Also, it's currently the 4th of July as we speak so Happy Independence Day!!!!!!

Very glad to hear that!

Well done on a good day, Dylan :)
