Di's Daily Diary of Maintaining

Hey Di just read through your whole diary. Congrats on the maintaining part. It must feel great. Can I ask you what size jeans you are currently wearing. Since we are both the same height and you are basicly at my "ideal" weight I was just wondering. Hope you start feeling better soon. Thanks for stopping by my diary.

Hi Candy,
Well, to answer your question...is depends on the brand. Most of my new jeans have been a size 4 petite...but it has been hard to get a perfect fit. I can also fit into some size 2's. Some of my problem has been they tend to sag in the crotch area...not sure why! When I was heavier, I did not have this problem. I have certainly learned to try everything on! It has been trial and error...I will let you know if I find that "perfect fit jean"!

Thanks for stopping in!

The long weekend is over, already...and back to work for me! I did manage to get a little extra rest and got my house cleaned over the weekend. My throat feels better, but still have the stuffy nose and hoarse voice. I feel like I am slowing getting over this thing. I bundled up and went for a long walk outside yesterday and did some light lifting as well.

My son has caught this bug as well. He has pretty much the same symptoms as I had, but he is running a fever with it also. His started on Saturday. He will be staying home from school today, which I hate, because of all the make up work. But, until his temp stays down he will be resting at home.

Happy Tuesday (which feels like Monday this week to me!) Everyone!

Stayed the same...not complaining. I did a treadmill cardio workout yesterday, and some strength training as well. It felt good!! This week is going by pretty quickly, so that is also good!

My son is going back to school today. I told him to take it easy at cross country practice...he can't just start back in a full workout running after this sinus/resp. infection. He is not one that likes to complain to his coach, however; so hope the coach has some sense about him! I am hoping he sits him out of Saturday's meet...he just will not be up to running 3 miles yet.

Gotta very busy day at school today...better get goin'!
Have a good day!

Today we are celebrating Boss's Day at school.
There will be tons of food and goodies...my worst nightmare! If I don't partake, people judge me and make comments about me being "skinny". If I do try to indulge a little, they still make comments and watch every bite I eat. I can't win! Of course, it's usually the heavier people making those comments....hmmm.

TGIF!

Sunday weigh-in: 115.4
I am starting to think my scale is stuck!! I kept getting on and off and checking again and again...but it always read the same number. I seem to be stuck at this weight. Don't get me wrong...I am not complaining! Just a little surprised...have not gotten as much exercise and feel like I have been eating more "junk" and less healthy foods lately. Hope it doesn't play catch up with me and result in a large gain next week.

I am starting to get a little worried about my son. I felt like he was getting better, but yesterday afternoon and evening he just layed around and was very lethargic. Keep in mind, this is a 17 year old boy! He was coughing more, as well. He is still on the antibiotic...so I am not sure what is going on. I may be calling the doctor again tomorrow if things don't improve...

Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

My internet at home quit working yesterday AM...so thought I would post a quick little post while here at school. I had my son weigh himself on the scales yesterday, just to make sure they weren't stuck! He and I usually weigh about the same...well, he weighed 113.0...so I do know they are working. He has lost a little weight since he has been sick. He really hates to weigh and see his weight go down. He is 5'8", so as you can tell, he is underweight...and he hates it! He sees this weight issue stuff from the other side of the coin...

Gonna take a nice walk outside today....sunny and in the 60's!! Woohoo!

Well, did not get to take that nice walk outside...they are now harvesting crops in the fields along our country road. So, unless I want to be devoured in grain dust and run over by tractors and wagons, it's best that I stay away! So, the past two days I have been stuck down in my basement on the treadmill. I don't mind it once I get going, but I know I will be using this as my main form of exercise once winter hits hard, so I really cherish the outside time when possible.
Yesterday, I searched for some new treadmill workouts on the internet. I have been getting kinda bored with my usual routines, so thought that might help. I haven't been able to find a lot yet. I did try one 40+ minute workout that incorporated using a lot of incline. I am not used to that much...my legs are sore today!

If anyone has any good workouts, or knows of any web sites where I can find specific ones, please respond and let me know.
Thanks,
Di

Thursday weigh-in: 115.8
I am surprised it isn't higher...I have been so hungry this week! I don't really know why...I have been working out the same amount of time. Maybe the cooler weather is getting to me...although, it has warmed up the last few days. So, not sure what is going on. Maybe time to get back on fitday and see just how much I am ingesting!!

Not sure why I keep posting to my diary...I really don't think anyone is reading it! I guess it is good discipline for myself...

Going to my son's cross country regionals this AM...gonna be a chilly one to both run and be a spectator! If the team does well enough, they will go to sectionals next weekend, so the season probably is not quite over...we hope!

Have a great Saturday!

Sunday weigh-in: 116.2
Up again. I know exactly what is going on. I am eating more and eating things I should not be eating. It is that simple...and it is beginning to show up on the scale a little. I will not freak out, I will simply adjust my diet. I am doing fine on the exercise end of things. So, I will eat less, and I will eat more nutritiously. Gotta keep things under control before they get out of control! Makes sense.

My son's team made it to sectionals...so one more week of practices and running for him. I am so proud of him. Even though he is not totally recovered from his infection, he got out there and gave it his all yesterday. He did not run his best time, but all the times were down anyway due to the muddy course. He gave 110% and it showed. Now, he needs to put on the pounds...so will try to feed him while I am trying to eat a little less!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Hi Di, I sometimes (often) wonder why I type in my diary every day too because not many actually post in it. It is amazing though how many people do read it. I'm sure you are inspiring others to reach their goals. I think that's what keeps me going. I looked at your diary today for the first time & will check out your story when I have a bit more time. I think it's ok to play around with what we eat to see what works in maintenance. I will be interested to see what a typical day's eating is for you.
Cheers fellow maintainer, Cate

Cate! Thanks for stopping in my diary and posting! Makes it feel a little less lonely in here, ya know? I too am not real good about posting in others diaries...many times when I come on the forums, I just have a few minutes to check for new postings, esp. during the day while at work!

I took the day "off" from exercising yesterday, even though I cleaned house and ran errands, and walked 8000 steps according to my pedometer. So, today is definitely a workout day...after school. I hope it is nice enough to walk outside again...but there is a chance of rain, so we will see. This year, if there's even a chance of rain, it rains!!!

Happy Monday, everyone!
Di

Just a quick post to say that there was leftover birthday cake in our teachers' lounge today at lunch....and, even though everyone else was eating it, I resisted! It looked so yummy, with gobs of icing. But, I knew if I took one bite....I wouldn't stop! Now, if I can do this well the rest of the day!

Good for you Di. I'm the same with sweet things. Now I resist altogether & find that is so much easier than trying to only have one. LOL- 8000 steps sounds like a fairly reasonable "non-exercise" day! We had a really wet Winter & I am so glad that it is over. Now I have no excuse for getting outside & walking. Cheers, Cate

Cate...I keep forgetting you live on the other side of the world from me! Lucky you to be heading towards summer...I have a friend, a guy I used to work with, who is also my son's tennis coach...he is from Australia. He has lived in the states for quite a few years, but still has retained some of that charming accent!

Ending up on the treadmill yesterday, since it rained all day. I am trying out the cto5k program, just to spice up my workout a little. Day 1 was yesterday. I felt like I had to add a little more on to the end of it, since I am used to doing more time and mileage. Since you are suppose to skip a day, today I will just walk...hopefully outside, but, once again, they are predicting more rain! Well, at least it is not snow!

I ended up with a pretty good day, diet wise. Had lemon-pepper chicken breast for supper, with steamed carrots and green beans. I did have a small breadstick...but only one. My snack in the evening was an apple and a few animal crackers.
Have a good day, everyone!
Di

I ended up on the treadmill again yesterday, due to the rain, and then later my bad knee started hurting. It had been doing so well for so long...and I always wear my knee brace when on the treadmill! I probably used too much incline while walking lately. My ortho doctor told me that is a no no for me, but I still do it anyway! Better cut way back on that and see if my knee starts feeling better! Today will be day 2 of my C to 5K program...unless the knee feels worse.

Still suffering from cold symptoms....will it ever go away!!????????

Well, I ended up skipping my workout. My knee was hurting all day at school, plus I started coughing quite a bit today, which is no surprise. All the kids at school are sick...coughing and blowing their noses, etc...and in my job I am exposed to every one of them. I wash my hands as often as I can, but still, I know I am picking up lots of germs. I just hope and pray it doesn't get worse. I hate coughing...you just can't rest. As long as my temp. stays normal, I guess I will try to keep going to school. Anyway, just did not feel well after work. I ran a couple of errands and came home to the recliner and rested for a brief while. Then had pizza for supper...I know, not the best, but wanted something easy to fix. I also drank a root beer! Just wanted something on my throat besides water.

Weigh in tomorrow AM...Yikes! It is not gonna be good!

Thursday weigh in: 114.6
How in the world did I end up losing a pound and a half??? I have been sucking on hard candy like crazy for my throat and cough, and eating things I should not be eating! Crazy...hope it doesn't jump right back up!

I slept okay last night, after overdosing myself with cold meds! I did cough some, but was able to get right back to sleep, so that was good. Haven't coughed too much yet this AM, but it is early! No fever, so that is good...and off to school I go...

Have a good day!
Di

My cough is better...yay! I was able to work out the last couple of days, and I have finished week 1 of c25k! It was pretty easy, actually, I guess cause I am used to treadmill workouts already. I know it is going to get harder!

Heading out of town today for my son's cross country sectionals. Hope he and the team do well...it's going to be chilly weather...again! I won't have time for a regular workout today, so I am wearing my pedometer and will try to walk as much as possible. Hopefully get in 10000 steps before the day is over.

Happy Halloween, everyone!!!!!
Di

Sunday weigh-in: 115.0

Hanging right in that range, which is good. I did get my 10000 steps in yesterday, so that was good. Today, I will do some household chores, and if the weather cooperates for a change, I might actually take a walk outside with my dog! I am planning on starting week 2 of c25k tomorrow.

Today is my younger daughter's birthday, so I am cooking a large family meal this evening, including lasagna, salad, breadsticks, and of course birthday cake. I will indulge, but in moderation!
