Di's Daily Diary of Maintaining

It's been raining here for 4 days and last night it stormed so bad that I shut down all the computers. Today it's just rainy again. A perfect day for staying in and getting stuff done.

I posted in the maintainer's thread about adding a few more calories. :)

WOW...we ended up getting over 5 inches of rain in 4 hours yesterday mornings. Roads were flooded. Our roof leaked into one of our bathrooms from a skylight and there was water all over the place! We also had water running in one of our basement windows. We have had construction, and it was a low area and the water came pouring in. Hubby had to go out and dig a trench to try to divert the flow. We are suppose to be getting some fill dirt to build up that area...could have used it yesterday!

A local man was killed...I guess he went outside and was trying to unplug a culvert, and the current swept him in and he drowned. So tragic!

Well, at least the rains have stopped, for now! We sure don't need any more for a while...

The only good thing was the bad weather forced me to stay in and clean house. Plus, my internet went down, so I didn't even have that to distract me!

Seems I am having trouble getting here to my own diary "daily". SInce back at school, I meet myself coming and going. I guess that can be a good thing at times; however, I don't want to get so busy that I lose sight of me and taking good care of myself. I do make my daily exercise a priority...but there are days when I just can't fit it in. Then I feel guilty until I can work out again. That's just one of the mental things I need to work out in my head now that I'm on maintenance...

Thursday weigh-in: 115.2
Still under my target range...I looked back at my weight recording sheets and I have lost 5 pounds since returning back to my job at school. Perhaps a combination of stress, being very busy, and fear that the other employees might think I have gained over the summer? I really need to start keeping a closer count on calories...back to fitday for me! I have just been estimating that I am in my range, but I guess it's time to know for sure!

I took a field trip with the 5th grade class yesterday. We went to an outdoor farm and steam show. The day started out very dreary and rainy, but the principal said the trip was still on. By the time we got there, it was only drizzling, but it was muddy everywhere, since we have had so much rain lately. Eventually, the sun came out and it was a nice day...got lots of walking done, which is good! Did not get lots of water drank...not so good. But, can't take frequent potty breaks with 16 kids in tow!

More cross country action today...hope the forcasted rain stays away! I hope to get lots of walking in while at the meet...

Sunday weigh-in: 115.2
Stayed the same...ok with that.

It started raining during my son's race yesterday...got very dark, the wind started blowing, and then rain. Luckily, it wasn't very hard...just steady. Probably felt good to the runners. Of course, I had left my umbrella in the car, parked far away, since the sun was shining bright when we arrived! So, we got wet and a little cold...but not enough to stop hubby and me from going out to lunch and by the mall afterwards!

I am going hiking at a state park this AM with hubby and son. It is suppose to be a gorgeous fall day...gotta take advantage of those!

Hiking was fun yesterday. The weather was cool and most of the trail was shady. We did do the more challenging parts of it...lots of hills...but I was happy to know that I kept up just fine with hubby and teenage son! I also was not gasping for breath like I used to when I was heavy!:hurray:

Overall, I felt like I got a good core workout...and it made me feel good about myself; that I can do this with ease, and enjoy it!:) Afterwards, we found a Subway and ate lunch...it was a good day!
Back to work today:(

I did not work out yesterday. I was just too busy. Today, after school, I will come right home and put in an hour on the treadmill, followed by some strength training. That always makes me feel better and more energetic. Maybe I can even do a few household chores afterwards!

Weigh in is tomorrow...I feel like I have gained...I have not been eating as healthy as I should:( And I have been so hungry lately...not sure what that is all about!?
 
Thursday weigh-in: 115.4

Weight hasn't changed for the past two weeks. Maybe this is the weight I will maintaining regularly? I could live with that!

There is a gal at my school...she actually came in 2nd place in our biggest loser competition...the one where I took first. Well, it really upset her that I won, and she came in 2nd, b/c at the time I had lost 27 pounds, and she had lost 29. But, with her starting bigger and being taller, I had the highest percentage of weight loss. Even knowing that...she seemed to be mad and hold it against me. Well, like me, she maintained her weight over the summer, and, perhaps like me, even lost a few more pounds. Now, she keeps coming up to me and saying things like how she keeps having to buy smaller clothes, nothing fits, and she can now wear her daughter's size 0 jeans (which I don't believe for one second...she is NOT that small!). This gal is known to ....how do I put it nicely...stretch the truth. I think she feels we are still in competition weight-wise. What can I say to shut her up...it's really bugging me for some reason!:banghead:

I am up an hour earlier than usual today...son has an early morning cross country practice. I can tell my butt is going to be draggin' all day! At least it is TGIF!
They are predicting more rain today:( Hope they are wrong...I am tired of my treadmill...want to get outside again to walk. I know that I will be stuck inside all winter with the treadmill...so want to be outside as long as I can! My treadmill is in our basement; so it is not the best environment. If it weren't for my ipod, it would be unbearable!

Hey Di!

We finally got past the rain of the last few weeks and I'm enjoying the mild fall weather. So nice to be able to get outside!

Is there any way you could get one of those DVD/TV combos for your basement? I have one for my business that works great. It would probably help with the being stuck inside and downstairs - if you could put on a movie or a show to help liven up the treadmill sessions.
 
Good to hear from you Kara! How's everything going? Sounds like you have been very busy from what I read when I last peaked in your diary. I think maybe the rain has stopped here as well; now it is just cool and cloudy. I can handle that!

Would love to have TV in basement...hubby seems dead set against it for some reason...not sure why! He has promised to buy me one of those small stationary recumbant cycles for this winter. It is small enough that I could place it right in the family room and cycle away in front of the TV there. Of course, I will believe he is buying it when I see it! He is usually supportive of my weight and health issues...but he tends to get forgetful at times. He has never had to struggle with weight his whole life, so it's just not on his radar most of the time!

Weight pretty much staying the same. I am not complaining!
And the sun is shining today, after several days absence! The family and I are going on a "fall drive" thing today. There is a map you follow, and when you go thru all these small towns there are crafts, food, and entertainment. It's a fun time, but very exhausting if you make too many stops! I am just glad the sun if out and it is going to warm up a little. The last couple of days have been very chilly and windy! My workout today will be all the walking I am going to be doing, and I will try to avoid all the junk food...but that will be hard! We are bringing a cooler with bottle of water and some healthy snacks, so that should help!

Oh the fall drive sounds nice - just to get out and enjoy the day.

I'm mired in housework today. I have laundry piled up and dishes and I have to cook some things for a party at work next week ... so I'm just puttering around with the TV going in the background.
 
The fall drive was okay...but I started feeling crappy during it. Scratchy throat and fatigued. By last night I had a stuffy nose and head. This AM I feel crappy also, and now have a headache...but no fever, so off to school I go! Hope I make it through the day.

I did okay dietwise on the trip yesterday. Had a grilled porkchop sandwich and about 2/3 can of coke at lunch. Then just drank on my water the rest of the afternoon. It was hard to stay away from the lemon shakeups, but I did!

Still feeling yucky...mostly sore throat, head and nasal congestion. I have not run a fever, so I keep on working! Just wish my throat felt better already! I have had strep throat in the past without having a fever, so if it lasts much longer, think I better go in and have that checked out to be sure it isn't strep. SInce I work with LOTS of kids...I am exposed to many bugs:(

Did not get any exercise yesterday. My son had a cross country meet...I stood out in cool and VERY windy weather and watched that. Sure didn't help how I feel. I did not feel like working out anyway...hope I feel like taking a walk after school today...I just hate not getting any exercise...afraid the weight will start creeping up. I am expecting a gain at tomorrow's weigh in, I'm afraid.

Thursday weigh-in: 116.0
Totally expected a gain...have not been getting the exercise and have been sucking on lots of hard candy for my throat...SUGAR! Not feeling worse today, just not really any better. I am starting to lose my voice...hubby will like that!
I sat for a 6 hours workshop today...and now at school until 7:30 PM tonight...so no workout again! Trying to walk around some...but most of my work requires me to be at my desk! At least there is a long weekend coming up....
 
At the risk of really sounding like a whiny brat...I must say that this virus is a killer...it is still invading my body like an unwanted houseguest! Now, in addition to my throat and head, my nose is alternating between being plugged and running like crazy! It makes me so frustrated...esp. cause I just am not up to working out like I am used to. My husband says my body needs the rest, but I feel so sluggish and fat when I don't exercise.

I did get on the treadmill yesterday, with the intent of going about 30 minutes. Ended up feeling ok...and stayed on for 52 minutes. No work out today. Went to my son's cross country meet, where I froze...but did a fair amount of walking around. Also made myself run the vacuum when I got home...cause I couldn't stand looking at my filthy carpet any longer! So, did get some forms of exercise. I still am afraid my weigh will be up again tomorrow:(

Woke up with stuffy nose, again! Have taken some cold meds and hope they start kicking in soon. I want to try to get on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes....but I need to be able to breathe! This is such crap! I just want to get well again...I am beyond frustrated! And, my son started getting this stuff yesterday...he is exhibiting all the same symptoms.

I guess as long as I have no fever, I am ok to exercise. The problem is that I have little or no energy. Well, a few minutes on the treadmill will not kill me, even if it feels like it at the time!

Hey Di just read through your whole diary. Congrats on the maintaining part. It must feel great. Can I ask you what size jeans you are currently wearing. Since we are both the same height and you are basicly at my "ideal" weight I was just wondering. Hope you start feeling better soon. Thanks for stopping by my diary.
