diary of the tubby Teenager first ever entry

Okay so I joined this site about 3 weeks back and I previousley thought too myself I don’t really want to start a diary on here because lets face it im just an image conscious 16 year old teen what do i have to offer? I don’t have an exciting international job or lots of helpfull recipes and no one will want to follow my journey and structured lifestyle , and then I was thinking what is stopping me just my fear of what others may think off me the same one that’s followed me since I was 5 or so always the bigger girl ,the tallest in the class . However soon after I made this pledge to myself (2weeks today)a few sudden and massive turning point in my life are also begging

*my mother me and my brother are moving away to south Wales, 500 miles away from my current home and my father,

*I have just finished high school [waiting for the dreaded gcse results in august]

*and then theirs the college thing in September which is one of the main reasons im making this change, a “me” change

Im wanting to test myself most of all and my strength as a person too see if I could carry on with my weight loss whilst all these massive things are happening in my life after all I have always been one for my comfort and surroundings, I also would really love if the other dieters and those successful weight losers could please offer me a bit of guidance and support on my journey as my life changes , for the better. :)

-stats-
5ft ll inches tall
pounds - 224
weight loss so far -7 lbs
stones - 15st 13 & a half
starting weight -16 st 6lb

p.s - All posts will be so much appriciated x

The same old usual day

Too diary and myself... Yesterday was very good [btw i had pasta for tea] but I didn’t really consume enough calories 1090 opps however its better than eating to many i suppose .
I was extremely hungry later on, but I was determined not too and just kept thinking about how yummy my breakfast would taste :drooling:

So this morning i was up really early making scrambled egg on toast using the cooker for the first Time ever however the scrambled egg magically turned into mushy omelette lol yet was still edible .. until the dog climbed up at my food when i was out of the room & eat the whole thing  I was FURIOUS and began to cry [im an emotional wreck at the moment]. But mum happily made me some more. proper scrambled egg lol

then most the day i have been doing some packing/tidying looking through pictures of myself a few years back were i still look as fat yet I was so happy and did not care that i looked like a beach wale with about 10 rubber rings under my pink costume

well we have family coming to stay from south Wales later today , I really hope they have noticed some weight loss and don’t just say it just to please me

Hi Emma,
I really admire your desire to change your life! Congratulations! There is no denying it is hard work. It is difficult with food because it is not something you can live without, unlike giving up smoking for example. I wish I had done what you are doing at your age. I went through college weighing between 13-14 stone.(5ft 6) I let my weight stop me from doing things that I wanted to do and dressing the way I would have loved to have dressed. "Fat clothes" just aren't really designed with fashion in mind!
I'm now 33 and still overweight, after trying numerous diets. But I'm 'in the focused zone' at the moment and going to crack it once and for all! I'm coming back to the UK at christmas and I'm going to be slim!!!
So Emma my words of advice to you would be the following. Try and work out, either on your own or with the help of a counsellor, why you over ate in the first place. As I said before food is something that we are faced with everyday and we need, just in the right proportions. Without improving our relationship with food we will spend our life time yo-yoing, being unhappy with ourselves and missing out on things we would love to do but avoid because we are ashamed of our bodies. I am a firm believer that beauty is on the inside, but people don't see that first. And from a health point of view being overweight stresses the body way too much. If you want to have it into old age its never too early to start looking after it and treat it with the respect it AND YOU deserve.
Sorry if I have rambled on for too long, and feel free to ignore anything I have said!
I wish you all the best in creating your new life, I know you can do it! I'll keep my eye on your progress!
And good luck for your GCSE results. :)

NO of course you did'nt btw Thankyou for your post it was really sweet and quite touching [& i felt quite emotional reading it too unless thats me with my mood swings ] ,all posts given mean sooo much and really inspire , and the gcses arent the end of the world as mum keeps saying :) t.k

Thanks Emma,
I'll keep in touch. One of my favorite quotes is "Goals are dreams with 'to do by' date". So it looks like your dream of being slim will happen as you have already started to doing! :jump:

So far so good

As you properly all know my main form of exercise is walking at the moment 1-1:2 hours a day [but I m going to be joining a gym in a month or so and also take up running] it might sound a bit daft of me after not losing to much but I am getting quite a few looks of guys too lol I must of started carrying myself better 0r something

males stop reading NOW............I also came on my periods this morning severe cramps and pains in my lower back [ that explains the crazy breakout of spots on my chin and irrational mood swings ] but nope I did not lie in bed moping like my body wanted too i was at 8:15 up on the beach walking the dog :p and enjoyed scrambled egg on toast when i got in

good for you for not stayig in bed - getting up and moving does more for cramps than an entire bottle of midol - and you get more benefits as well :)

Things are looking big , as the clothes sizes shrink ;]

I went shopping this afternoon in town with mum for an outfit for my leaving party [for Sunday] no longer am i looking for a baggy size 18-20's whoop i got some white cropped jeans [size 16-18] and a patterned top [size 14-16] they top looked great on also I m not really that bothered about the tops of my arms showing :jump: had a big salad when I got in it was a bit bland though . But I’m not all that hungry anyway and ARGH i eaten to late so i will proberly just have a bowl of special k for dinner [that cereal is my god lol], so far today everything feels great

p.s hope everyones doing good too

Hmmm your numbers seem a bit off (unless you subtracted the 2 hour walk - don't do that when calculating calories). If you're not hungry, don't eat, but it doesn't matter WHEN you eat. Your body still uses energy when you sleep, so think about how when you eat before bed and then sleep for 7 hours (or more like 12 if you're me :p), that's a whole 7 hours without food. Your body is going to need energy for that. It doesn't just magically turn into fat, that's complete BS.

If you are worried about it anyway, eat a high protein food like chicken. Protein isn't stored as fat period, I don't believe, so you can be guilt free :)

Hi Emma,
Don't beat yourself up! EVEN if you did go over slightly it has happened and can't be changed. Try to focus on the positives like how hot you are going to look in your new clothes, how much you have achieved so far, the boys checking you out and your next goal!
Dwelling on the bad stuff that we feel guilty about is likely to cause you to eat more through comfort eating...and you don't want that!
Don't punish yourself...PRAISE YOURSELF!
Your have done great so far and will continue to!
Keep that smile on your face :)

Oops

don't do that when calculating calories.

really i always thought that when your counting calories you take away what you burnt on excersise and should aim for a minimum of 1200 - 1500 kcals a day , because i have been keepy a calories book for almost 3 weeks now and counting them all up in that

period pains + cravings + boredom = Emma currently

I woke up this morning positive but to be honest have been quite lazy and feel tired even though I have had 8 1/2 hours sleep I also went up to the beach not realising quite how ruff I looked with my hair tide up and not a spot of makeup on and I saw a school girl friend you could tell she didn’t recognise me not for a good reason either its just when I was at school it used to take me 2 n a half hours to get ready in the morning doing the hair and makeup to perfection because I did not want too look ugly as well as FAT but when passing I heard her mutter "is that Emma"
Oh I feel even more insecure now

& I have had so far

A bowl of special k

Half a tin of beans and 2 toast [no butter]

A few pints of water

And two ice lollies

Btw - I have done 70 sit ups went on a 30 min brisk walk and will proberly go on another after dinner were I will have a balanced 3rd meal

Hi Emma,
I know it is hard but unfortunately we have no control over what other people say. Its a life long thing. We tend to make it worse by interpreting what other people say wrongly too. How do you really know that she wasn't meaning 'Is that Emma, gosh she has lost loads of weight!' But because you weren't feeling positive you thought of a negative thing.
It wasn't until I was 25 that I began to believe people were looking at me because they found me attractive not because they thought I was a freak! It was me that thought I was a freak and assumed everybody else did too!
Keep at it Emma, you have what it takes to do this, don't let other peoples comments put you off.
Are you packed for the move? Carrying those boxes will be a good work out!
Sara :)

Hello everybody ! : D I just thought i would let you know we went to the cinema last night to watch the Simpson’s which actually was quite Naff well anyway usually I’m my hungriest when doing nothing and when at the cinemas in the past I used to binge like crazy popcorn, M&M’s, ice blasts [slushy drink], fizzy pop, sweets and lots more things.. seriously no joke and yesterday whilst my family did buy all those things I just sat with my bottle of water and to be honest I felt sick at the thought of people shovelling truck full’s of popcorn in their mouths and guzzling litres of the fizzy stuff: P I also did about 170 sit ups yesterday or more and only ate 1400 kcals all day woo.

Cya xox
