Diary of a Mover-N-Shaker

Hi Everyone,

I've been roaming around this forum for a couple of months and its been a great source of encouragement and motivation, especially during those difficult days. I really love reading about other people's success stories and how they've manage to achieve their goals, and this is something i wish upon myself.

So a bit about myself: I'm a 24 year old Londoner, and a very proud Londoner may I add lol, growing up I was always that thin, hyperactive child. I had a very healthy active upbringing; I played football (soccer) for many years, as well as amateur boxing and athletics. So what happened you ask, well I start University (college) and I pretty much put all sporting activity behind me, and replaced it with Kebabs, Pizzas, Chips, Fried Chicken and everything else associated with a unhealthy lifestyle. I don't drink so I guess that was a plus side to the many minuses of a University life style.

I started University at around 12.9 stone (I'm 5'11.5 foot) and I graduated at a whooping 15.7 stone, thats about 3 stone gain in 3 years. This weight made me feel extremely uncomfortable with myself, I didn't like going out too much, hated summer with a vengeance, I became very unsocial. But that's all behind me now and I'm looking forward to a successful future in terms of weight control. I plan on documenting a week by week diary of my weight journey.

I've tried working out in the past but I was unsuccessful, but things have changed.

So let's get to the meat:

Where am I now: 183 pound/13.1 stone

I've managed to loss over 1 stone by just changing my diet for 6 months without really exercising.

Where do I want to be: 168 pounds/12 stone

Exercise:

Monday: Cardio (Treadmill 20min, CrossTrainer 20min, Step Master 5min)
Wednesday Morning: Legs and Triceps
Friday: Cardio (Treadmill 20min, CrossTrainer 20min, Step Master 5min)
Saturday: Back and Shoulders
Sunday: Chest Biceps

Diet:

Drink: 2 to 3.5 litres everyday

2 Protein Shakes every day, once in the morning and post workout/evening.

Breakfast: Porridge or Weetabix
Snack: Fruit
Lunch: Heinze Creamed Tomato Soup
Snack: Banana or Protein Shake (Only on Wed, Sat, Sun)
Dinner: Big Salad Bowl with Tuna and Potatos
Snack: More Fruit

My aim is to loose 2 pounds a week for 2months, and then be able to maintain from their, and just build more muscle mass (but not too much) and just enjoy life ina body I'm comfortable with.

11/10/10 weigh-in: 183lb/13.1 stone

So its been 4 weeks since I started this new page in my life, 4 weeks of healthy eating, 4 weeks of dedication to the gym, 4 weeks of fighting temptations, and I must say its been hard but woooow has it paid off. I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks and it feels great, I mean GREAAAAT thank God, I nolonger have that bloated feelings, I feel lighter and faster. Even though I would kill for a Chicken Donner Kebab with a Large portion of chips and loads of garlic sauce I'm not going to eat one, I feel really strong mentally. I'm aiming for 2 pounds a week but even if I loose 1 I don't care, it's all about baby steps for me, I've come to understand weight loss doesn't come over night it takes months of dedication and patience.

A great thing happened this week, I was able to fit into a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear since I was 18, it wasn't a perfect fit, but it wasn't tight either, and it just feels great to see the merts of all the hard work I put in at the gym.

This week if going to be the most difficult week so far, my cousin is getting married this Saturday, and I know what thats going to mean, FOOOOOD GLORIOUSS FOOODDDD, and not any food, but really unhealthy stuff. Now I've promised to treat myself every 4-5 weeks, so YES will treat myself but I've promised myself I won't over do it either.

This weeks Aim is: 182lb/13stone

I've just done a midweek weigh in, and I'm already 13stone :hurray:, but because I'm going to a wedding this week, my goal is to maintain it, if i'm able to loose anything extra its a bonus, but I'm SOOOOOOOO excited about the idea of being 12.13 stone and under.

Firstly I'm a massive Cantona fan, by far one of the best players in the English League.

So how has the diet been for you? Isit helping with the weight loss?

Aye, he was. Probably my favourite ever player. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but a class act.

I don't think I'd have lost any weight without my diet. You can probably see from my signature that I've lost a fair bit of weight. You can pop in my diary and see for yourself.

It works :)

Week 2:

This past week has been a strange one to say the least, its hasn't been great, but it wasn't that bad either. I had so much going on with work that I only managed to go gym once, this is the first time I've missed a gym session/sessions, I was going 5 times a week the previous 3 weeks, but I'm not going to put myself down about it. From Monday till Friday my eating was great, I ate all the right stuff, drank between 2-3 litres of water, but then came Saturday the wedding, I did promise to treat myself, and on Sunday I was invited out to eat and I couldn't say no, I had a Kebab (MAAADDD Calories) and for dessert I had 5 profiterole with 2 dollops of ice cream. So where am I now with my weight:

Last week i weighed in at 183 pound/13.1 Stone, and after not the greatest of weeks, today 18/10/10 I WEIGHED IN AT: 181 Pound/ 12.13 Stone

Thats right 2 pounds down baby, I would of been happy if I just maintained, but to loose 2 pounds I'm ecstatic. The best part is knowing I weigh under 13 Stone :driving:.

This weeks Goal: 179 Pound/ 12.11

Week 3

Week 3

This week has been a good week, my food intake has been great, I had a little more cheese and white bread than I would of liked but I don't think it effected my diet much. I did 2 days cardio and 3 days weights, but this week I've introduced Interval Training into my sessions, and boy is it hard work, so I do 5min jogging at 5.5mph for 5 min, then I start doing 2min sprint, 1 min walk, 1 min jog then I start the cycle again for 20 min. I've also purchased a Protein shake 'Sci-Mx Whey', this particular one has 35g protein, 1.5g fat, 1.98 Carbs, and 175 Cals per serving so its a good one to take while losing weight and gaining some muscle, I'm taking is twice a day everyday apart from Thursdays. My strength has increase quite a bit which I'm very pleased with.

So lets get to the weigh in:

Last week i weighed in at 181 pound/12.13 Stone, today 25/10/10 I WEIGHED IN AT: 179 Pound/ 12.11 Stone

So thats a good 2 pounds down, and I'm on track but I feel like my weight loss has started to slow down a little, but I'm going to keep at it.

This weeks Goal: 177 Pound/12.9

Week 4

So its week 4 and I'm still going strong, I treated myself last Thursday, but that wasn't exactly cheating, I had half grilled chicken with some spicey rice :drool5: lol. I've start to focus on building on Muscle a lot more, although my main goal is still to loss weight, but I don't want end up looking skinny with extra skin lol. I'm having two protein shakes everyday, once in the morning and post workout/afternoon. The interval training I've introduced into my sessions have been great. I've become a lot stronger and I'm able to push a lot more.

So lets get to the weigh in:

Last week i weighed in at 179 pound/12.11 Stone, today 01/11/10 I WEIGHED IN AT: 177 Pound/ 12.9 Stone

Thats right I'm almost 12 and Half stone wooooooow, to be honest the scales were going from 177 to 178, but I'm counting it as 2 Pounds down.

Although I'm pleased with how its going, I still have a lot of flab and fat around the upper body, I'm really hoping once I get down to 12 - 11.12 stone that flab is gone.

anyways.....

This weeks Goal: 176 Pound/12.8 (This week is going to be very busy so I'm aiming for 1 pound loss).

Week 5

I've only gone gym 2 times this whole week, but my eating hasn't been too bad.

So lets get to the weigh in:

Last week i weighed in at 177 pound/12.9 Stone, today 10/11/10 I STILL WEIGH IN AT: 177 Pound/ 12.9 Stone

So I've maintained, which isn't too bad.

This weeks Goal: 176 Pound/12.7 (12 1/2) Stone

Week 6 & 7

So its been two weeks, and sadly I haven't lost any weight, but on the plus I haven't gained either which isn't too bad. I've slowed down on cardio, I've done about 2 cardio sessions in two weeks, which isn't great.

I still weigh in at 177lb/12.9stone. :banghead:

This weeks goal 175lb/12.7stone.

are u still eating potatoes for dinner? isnt that too heavy for the last meal of the day....just a thought.

Not too sure what you mean by too heavy. you can eat a large or 'heavy' meal at night and be just fine. Now, some people get heartburn or restless nights but as far as weight loss, it doesn't matter. The 'don't eat late' idea is pure myth.

Doesn't your metabolism come to almost a complete halt while you sleep?
I try not to eat heavy at night, or snack too late, though its difficult.
