Detroit: So, apparently Detroit is such a piss poor, post-inudstrial wasteland, people have resorted to "third world" behavior there. Yes, that's right. I'm talking about urban farming. And no, I'm not talking about super left-wing, hippie/Earthfirst! city-dwelling types. I'm talking about poor as f*ck people who have started hearding goats on "open" city lots because that's more economical and affordable than going to the store to buy milk and meat.

I live in Baltimore and, frankly, we're not that far behind Detroit. In fact, I think we might be in the lead for most murders per capita this year. Pretty awesome.

Hmmm...I've been to Detroit many times recently, and I've never seen anyone hearding goats in the hood. Of course, I don't make a habit of going into the hood there as it's incredibly dangerous. I usually hang out in Dearborn and the burbs--or the downtown area, which is nice. There are some very wealthy suburbs around Detroit--such as Bloomfield Hills and Grosse Pointe. Honestly, though if people were actually raising goats in the city, I think it would make the news. Where did you hear this? Or are you just making it up?

Uh, I don't make things up to gain attention. Please don't pose such questions to people you don't know. You said yourself you don't spend much time in the hood. Well, that's exactly where I saw it in 1998.

Calm down Miss Attitude! I thought you might be joking about it--not that you were making it up for attention. Anyway, I don't appreciate people saying such nasty things about my home state. Every large city has "piss poor" areas. Have you been to Detroit since 1998?? And how many people did you see raising goats? I think the city probably has rules against livestock in city lots...lmao. I can't imagine it's a common occurance. Most people in those areas are too busy watching Springer, smoking and/or selling drugs, or trying not to get shot to bother with goats.

BB:

I haven't been to Detroit since 1998, though I've wanted to go back. I know some people there who claim that it's worse than Baltimore these days. Detroit's got an impoverished reputation for a reason; most of the industry either closed or moved south or overseas. (Anyway, I'm sure you know that.) I found the urban farming sort both funny and sad.

I'm not dissing your whole state. Ann Arbor is pretty awesome and I hear the Upper Peninsula is beautiful in some parts, austere in some parts, both in some areas.

I saw multiple groups of people hearding goats and chickens on a lot that had once been a building but had been reduced to rubble. We have lots of those lots in Baltimore. I always say terrorists won't bother attacking Baltimore because "shit looks bombed out already." Some areas of the city might as well be Beirut.

Hi Val. I can't wait to hear about all your experiences in passing the test and becoming a trainer. I bet you will kick ass!

Good Morning Sexy!! :) WOW, I'm glad I headed out of this diary before all the Detroit commotion came up! I think Detroit is cool, and Kimberly is right, we have poor and nasty areas in all states, but that's just life and well, who the hell needs to beat that dead horse anymore.

Moving forward to a more BRIGHT and POSITIVE conversation, I think you should get certified, that would be a great idea, but honestly will you have time?? Just use Steve like we all do, as he's so positively certified in my book. Hey, if you look that great, then you must know what your doing right?? LOL We love Steve don't we ladies! tehehehe giggles and blushes

SO any plans for the up and coming weekend?? IS that Halloween party on Halloween?? I've been invited to one as well on Saturday, but I doubt I'll be able to make it, I have so much to do, and well it's actually a long drive from my neck of the woods, i would hate to get out there and have a few then have to drive back, just not my cup of tea!

Well, I sure hope you had a good evening yesterday!! And I hope your dinner was another scrumptious one!! AHHHH you eat soo good, you put me to SHAME! but I'm fine with that, because I can just come in here and drool and have me a cyber meal. :drooling: Hugs to you my VBF, I wish you a great day today!
Love
VBF!

Hey Val Doll,

first off, I think you'd make an amazing trainer! Also.... in Cali, you'd do very well. Just hit Folsom Street Fair to pass out fliers and you'll get leather daddy after leather daddy.. or even mommy, calling you. hahaa!!

As for the "Detroit Commotion," I'm just going to smile... high five Kimberly b/c that shit talk was out of line. Nuff said. :D Love yas, beauty. Wishing you a wonderful day, bunny.

Sheryl is one step ahead of me today...lol :D

It looks like I'm following her..

Hey Sexy Buns! :hug2:

Did ya research the 50 states? :D
:p

I love ya... *Have A Goal Reachin' Thursday!*

OMG Michigan is VERY interesting indeed. I'm so ignorant it's disgusting! Please, everybody, tell me about your state--I can tell you anything you need to know about the Central Coast or the Bay Area!

What exactly do you want to know about each state? I'm pretty ignorant about other states also. I've never been to Cali, Vegas and Tahoe are pretty much the only places I have visited in the west. My H is a pilot in the USAF so it looks like I'll get to live in some pretty interesting places in the next ten years or so. Probably Germany in about 4 years.

Did you grow up on a res? I have some family in OK that still live on the reservation. My father has alot of native American in him. Cherokee. He's got an awesome dark complexion and black eyes, very handsome. :) You can see alot of it in me too cause I look just like him, I just have grey eyes and lighter skin. My mother's family are Irish. She has flaming red hair. Bad temper too! My MIL is really into geneology and I would like to track my family's. See where we came from, you know.

Where to start?

Well last night was nice, I <3 Russians. Eugene "Zjen-yah" (but I call him Jangus) is such a nice host. They were all drinking shots of vodka all night, the BF was just having a few beers, and I
had

chocolate
for

dinner!

Sometimes ya just gotta have chocolate for dinner. I was bleeding hard, cramps, AND my entire body was sore, especially my hips. I also had a pomegranate. The restaurants were all terrible in the vicinity (West Hamilton) and there wasn't a Whole Foods nearby, either. We watched South Park and Sarah Silverman (DOO-DEE!) and a bunch of terrible Russian music videos.

I need to add up the calories but I will later, I just got home from the mountains where I spent the night with the BF. I've grown fond of sleeping alone, but I miss how nice it is to cuddle up to the lil BF--he's 6'1" now and 155 lbs, so he's very long and very lean, and he likes to sleep sort of fetal style and I spoon him and kiss and cuddle my face against his back in my sleep. I wake myself up cuddling him too hard! He likes it.

This morning I was checking out my body and it is looking GOOD! The weight training has really affected it, and I can see that some of my fat is gone. Looking leaner, but my ass is still bangin' so I couldn't ask for more. In fact, the BF even got wood when I was on the couch with him and he made me get my legs off him (I was resting them due to my sore hips). That was pretty flattering! :D I have this song stuck on my head today:

I like the women in this video, they aren't all plastic and they look like they were just some of the rapper's friend's cousins and they were like axed, "Yo you want to make a dub?" LOL!!! :D

My body feels much better today! I didn't get my text book in the mail yesterday :( Hopefully today.....

On Detroit: As a person who is pretty poor and an advocate for subsistence farming whenever possible, I say, milk the goats, fuck the gov regulations if they can't get in your hood and protect your family, then by all means FEED YO BABY. My girl friend was in Motown for a little bit but she didn't tell me much about it. I asked if it was really true that homeless people serenade around burning trash cans and she said yes. I've seen REAL POOR in Fiji and Samoa, but they have an advantage--it ain't so damn cold and if they need food, they can go fishing or to the "Bush" and get it. But damn, some of the shacks in the jungle I saw.....just really, amazingly poor. Third World, yes! Still, no guns, no snow, and all the food you can gather.....

On training: I have a few advantages: Steve's help, my own passion and drive and ability to communicate with others, my desire to really help people who would actually listen, and the fact that I'm a clean slate. I don't need to "unlearn" bad habits, I have never had a trainer myself. I'm excited about learning.....where the fuck is my book!? Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement, I appreciate it :hug2:. If it makes you feel better, every single person I talked to in real life thinks I'd make a good one too, so I'm going for it!

Kimmie: Steve told me that just because people look good doesn't mean they wouldn't make a bad trainer, but we know that, and we also know that Steve would certainly make sure I wouldn't turn out a bad trainer--of course, I wouldn't let myself either, but I can consult him and if he's available, I know he'd help me :) I have plenty of extra time, I'll be studying a lot soon....I don't have plans and I haven't been invited to any parties but I'll definitely find parties! And no, I didn't eat well nutritionally, but at the same time, like I said,

SOMETIMES, you just gotta have chocolate for dinner. :) In the long run, it sure as hell ain't gonna shorten my life! :D

Thanks Sheryl, I think it would be fun to train anybody. As you see, I have a VERY eclectic bunch of friends. Can you use "eclectic" in regards to human beings?? I'm not sure....but yeah, a LOT of different types of people. Even the BF sort of wants me to train him. HA!

Ewww, TLD is OVER!! LOL!! I love ya too, you crunk thug bitch! LMAO!!!! And no I still don't know shit about the other states. BUT I remember what a honey crisp is! :D

Married to a pilot? HOT! :D
What's Arkansas like, are the people nosy or aloof? What is Arkansas known for as far as food, alcohol, or historic events? What kind of Native Americans do you have? LOL!
I did not come from the res, and mom was born in Fresno. My gramps' family had to move to Fresno because there ain't no jobs on the res, yadadada mean? My aunt Laura moved back there after going to University to help protest against the uranium mines and dumping back in the 80s. I've attached a picture of my gramps and his sister and brothers. From the left, Great Aunt, her hubby (who is Swiss), my Great Uncle's wife and him, my Mexican grandma and gramps, and youngest Great Uncle and his wife. These people are genuinely nice, smart, and good. No dramas on this side! I thoroughly enjoy the holidays with them. :beating:

What a great looking bunch!! :) And you know me VBF I would NEVER, and I mean NEVER Dis the Chocolate, as I had some yesterday myself, and it's been A LONG time since I had a piece during the day. LOL LOL That's a piece of chocolate for all you demented friends out there. LOL One of my brokers got a box of chocolates sent to him yesterday and he let me choose one out of the box, I chose the dark chocolate with almonds, mmmm it was tasty, the package said 140 calories for that chunk too, WOW:eek2: Then when I got home from the gym last night my hubby said, Did you see what I brought home for us to snack on later??? It was a snickers with almonds, we split it, I honestly can say I haven't bought a chocolate bar in maybe 6 months, so it was a big treat for me yesterday and I enjoyed every morsel. LMAO!! Don't deny the chocolate, just don't eat it every day all day. :rotflmao:

A chocolate hangover? LOL!!

No I wasn't drinking last night....this is day, uh Day 18 of no alcohol! WOW!! Yes thank you I will enjoy my day with no chocolate!

1990

Exercise: Almost none, my body is SORE (not right now it was earlier) and I took the day off. I took Genie the Doggie to the beach for 35 minutes.

Cals: 1990. But it's 7pm! I really need to not eat anything else. Oh man it was horrible, I'm bleeding hard and I didn't sleep enough last night, so I was eating the crap in the office kitchen. I had cereal and soy milk with agave nectar, blackberries and strawberries and yogurt for b-fast, a Kashi Go Lean! bar and trailmix for a snack, shrimp salad for lunch (shrimp on a bed of lettuce and veggies with balsamic vinaigrette) and a quesedilla for dinner because in the middle, I had co-worker's chocolate cake, cookies, and carmel Nips and tea. This was all together too much sugar!! SIGH fucking SIGH.

At least the calories aren't too high. Yesterday I consumed 2600 calories! Stupid ass period. I swear, I wrote stuff about the Cycle and STILL the knowledge doesn't prevent me from devouring sugar and chocolate too much when I am bleeding.

But as we say, back in the saddle! Meal plans tomorrow and yeah...on and on :)
