I am also heart broken for the people out there. My 2 clients were both evacuated from their respective homes (they're sisters and they fled to their cousins house, though I'm starting to wonder if he was also evacuated as when we spoke to him he was in a haze of smoke). The scale of it is totally mind blowing. I'm so sad for all the people, animals and even the trees are feeling the pain. Wahhhhhhhhh.

Oh I know! The smoke must be horrible. I'm so happy that Tom is OK and didn't have to evacuate. Tonight the numbers were up to 950,000!! AH, the poor animals. My tree-hugging local radio says global warming is affecting this--I guess the heat makes it worse. I have no idea if humans are to blame for that or if it just a climate change that is a huge cycle over hundreds of thousands of years. Dunno.

Yeah, says the girl who drank an entire bottle of wine the other night..lol.

BEEN THERE! Wow the hang over SUCKS :( Yes, being broke sucks. Otherwise we'd all be down there with Kim kicking them back and dancing and having a good ol' time.....SIGH!!!

Howdy Curvie,
TY for popping in you rock in support I see ya in everyones diaries :hug2:..I payed JOE a visit earlier and it really saddens
me the whole situation and pretty much how bad the schools are getting
everywhere.I will do some heavy duty diary reading in here this week to catch
up I am real intersted from beginning to now.:)I must get sleep now tho I am sooo beat, have a gr8 night and I will also check those links you posted those fires are horrible!!!

Hi sweetie! Oh geez my diary is far too long, and I'm a bad influence as I was (and latently am) a Party Girl. Party Girls don't lose weight, they either gain it or they adopt some terrible habits that prevent that! Ewww think of Paris and Nicole! But now I'm trying to be good. Old habits die so hard....anyway, thanks for stopping by!

That is damn good, considering my exercise and RMR--it came to a deficit of 515 calories for the day, and I can really feel it--It's about 10 o'clock and I'm HUNGRY. Being hungry at night for me is usually confirmation of a deficit, especially since I even ate last only 2 hours ago or so.

Karen invited me over after Kickboe class, and her hubby offered leftover Japanese Noodle soup. I accepted and that was very low calorie, I didn't have much. Also, I came home and snacked on some trail mix and had a bit of the chocolate coconut butter. Right now I'm drinking water and trying desperately not to eat. I think I'll go to bed soon to avoid that, I'm physically tired anyway.

OOOh ouch. Faux pas. I screwed up my hips doing too many heavy squats yesterday

Steve WARNED me about weight training too heavily, too often. I didn't listen too well and last week I did 3 hour long sessions, Mon/Wed/Fri. Then he suggested a week off exercise and I was like, um probably a good idea but I don't wanna. Then I rested Sunday but yesterday I did an hour weight session. I did too many leg presses. Hmmm I did 80 total--8 sets of 10, 4 sets with 225 lbs and 4 sets with 180 lbs. Then today my hips hurt--not the front, but deep inside, like it hurts to do the front splits (which I can't totally do anyway). So in Kickboe I was having a very hard time dealing with the pain of side kicks. I just did them very low and weak. Then I started to loosen up and the pain subsided. I don't think I'll weight train tomorrow. I may practice sprints in the morning and go to work early and get in some extra hours, because I'm going broke with less than 30 hour weeks. Actually I think that is a great idea, and I may rest Fri and Sat for Sunday's race (Thurs I'll probably do Kickboe).

Stupid hips. Geezus I'm HUNGRY!!! Time for beddy bie :)

I wasn't hungover the next day, though. I guzzle lots of water before bed and it almost always works.:)

That is terrible about the students at Joe's school. So sad.

I can't believe how these fires keep spreading. It must be incredibly dry. Reminds me of the fires in Australia a few months ago. My MIL said even though they were over a hundred miles away from her, the whole city was covered in gray smoke. I can't imagine what the people are going through--kinda similar to those in hurricane zones. I hope the animals' sense of instinct kicks in, and they are able to "evacuate" themselves and avoid the fires.

Its really tragic what's going on, I'm watching the coverage now and its just insane.

I feel you on being hungry at night, that happens to me too when I've been "good". I was hungry last night myself, but not starving so that was doable. When I get that starving feeling it gets hard and I start eating, then I usually end up eating up my whole deficit for the day.

Have a good one :).

Hey CG. I feel ya onthe hips. Wait til you have a kid. They'll never be the same again! Take it easy for a couple days and let them rest. Youdon't want to hurt yourself before the 5k on Sunday.

Some people are addicted to drugs, but for you it's exercise!! i really hope it's a good thing and you could pass this addiction on to me!! Have a great day!!:)

Hi Val. Yes, it's awfully difficult to cut down on the partying in your 20's, that's for sure! And your body isn't worn out enough to force you to cut it out!

Thanks, you too! Yes, I'm usually frightened of ruining my deficit at night when I'm like, "Hmmm, a snack would be yummy..." I did great and didn't eat anything, keeping my 500 cal def!

 OH shit! Oh man I don't wanna give birth!!!!! Yes, you're quit right on that! Thanks for stopping by!

I read far too much of this post for my own good. It's a great read! I'll read another 30 pages tonight haha.

We all have our "crutch" :rotflmao: My advice? Just do more and more, and regularly, and you'll get addicted, easily! You have a great day too!

Morning Val. :)

YO!

Hi Val. Yes, it's awfully difficult to cut down on the partying in your 20's, that's for sure! And your body isn't worn out enough to force you to cut it out!

Um, my body is getting worn out, but from exercise. Sigh, I need that week's break but I'm going to go crazy, it would be far worse than quitting drinking. Hey, I haven't partied in 16 days, that's something!

I love your VAL BUNNY!! AHHHHHH It's cute!! :) I think your doing so good by not partying for 16 days, MAN that is going to do your body GREAT! Just don't go to overboard on Halloween and screw your system up, I hope you have a really productive day today!! Your doing an awesome job on your food, I'm just so amazed at your change up the past few weeks. ****Kim hugs VBF*** for a job well done!

My habits are play hard & indulge, work hard & deny. I don't agree with that. I'd prefer a more middle road. My mom, who is a bad alcoholic now, but was only a binge drinker when I was little and she had to raise me, said when she was in her 20s it was the same for her--she'd alternate from eating right and not partying to eating crappy and drinking too much. Fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, but at least my dad wasn't a drinker--he just died of a drug overdose at 41 :rotflmao: AH well, at least I can't stand hard drugs or cigarettes. I'm actually much better off than both of them--and a much faster runner than mom :D

I plan on wine tasting after the run Sunday, because the run Sunday is called The Grape Stomp and it's in Livermore, my home town. Livermore is a well-known growing region but I HATE Wente Winery. Apparently in the past 5 years since I've been gone, wineries have just been springing up and I heard some are quite good. There was actually a Livermore winery wine in my office one day, for my boss to try! It was actually a really good Cab. So I'm eager to see if anything gold is being made there. But I don't usually drink on Halloween, there's too much going on, it's too exciting to be drunk and there are too many costumes to look at!

Wednesday

This morning my hips are still sore from all the squats Monday. I jumped on WLF and munched on a Kashi Go Lean! roll for 190 calories and I bought a small block of Black Diamond Cheddar Cheese, of which I had 1 oz for 110 calories. I was really really hungry! Then I went for a 25 minute run in my hood. I warmed up for 15 minutes and then practiced fartlek (which means "speed play" in Swedish, is a form of conditioning which puts stress mainly on the aerobic energy system due to the continuous nature of this exercise. The difference between this type of training and continuous training is that the intensity or speed of the exercise varies, meaning that aerobic and anaerobic systems can be put under stress. Most Fartlek sessions last a minimum of 45 minutes and can vary from aerobic walking to anaerobic sprinting. Fartlek training is generally associated with running, but can include almost any kind of exercise including cycling, rowing or swimming.) for 10 minutes. Man that shit is hard to do! I was panting and panting....

SO a 25 minute run and I just ate my usual cereal, soy milk, agave nectar, raspberries and strawberries and had almost a cup of organic vanilla bean yogurt.

I drank about 26 oz of water already and am still thirsty. There's a "heat wave" going on in Santa Cruz and it's feeling hot already--supposed to be 77 degrees this afternoon with a "realfeel" of 80 degrees.

After work, I'm driving to San Jose to hang out with the BF and his Belarussan buddies (Belarus is right by Russia). Then I'm spending the night at his house in the mountains. I sort of miss the bastard....I already warned Weekday Boyfriend so he'll know not to expect me :rotflmao: JUST KIDDIN'!

I'm seriously debating whether or not to do anything on Friday or not. Maybe I could go and train my upper body and abs and leave my legs alone? That would be nice! Just to get a half hour or so without any leg work....I dunno. But Saturday is all rest day! I may even have to eat to maintenance for a few days, though I doubt that will significantly improve my performance....

Anyway, I should get to work!

Listen to your body Val.... if your legs are begging for a break, give them one. Skipping a training session is a good thing once enough fatigue is accumulated.

Did you get your book yet?

Yes, I know you're right. I will, no more leg work today. I am PLANNING on an exercise break for at least 72 hours. I'm not sure how a person determines how much time off she needs!

Not yet--UPS ground usually takes 3 days after it ships. It shipped Monday, it should be in my mail today or tomorrow--OOOOooooooh I'm so excited!
