Right now I'm on the computer with my ankle up, relaxing with some wine, checking out WLF late at night, heh heh. My buddy lent me this thing that's tight and stretchy and for the ankle--I was icing it earlier. I do believe it is not badly sprained at all. So no sympathy, ok?!?!?! I'm FINE. Just bummed about Wharf to Wharf. But I still refuse to work tomorrow, I have sick hours and I intend to use them, dammit!!!

So sorry about the ankle, Val. Wow, first a bee, and now this! But that is so great you found a way to deal with the situation. Good for you! Yes, you deserve your "drama queen" day!

What the hell are you doing up?!?!?! LOL!!! It is the SAME ankle, dammit!!!! (I wonder if that has anything to do with it?!?!?!)

I am not going to work tomorrow, I'm still a little bit drama and therefore I want a day to sulk.

Ha Ha Ha - can we say or I mean spell P-R-I-N-C-E-S-S!!!

Teeheehee...Sorry Val - I love ya I really do bu tlike you I speak my mind...and say what I am thinkin...

Im sorry you sprained your ankle...and it sucks abt your wharf to wharf but you are right there is next yr and in a week or so your ankle will be all better...Congrats on the place you found - it sounds great and perfect!!!

Ha Ha Ha - I just said the opposite!!!

I didnt really offer any - However you should totally use up your sick days/hours you are entitled to them...

Recover quickly!!!:hug2:

Aw Val...but I'm so good at sympathizing! Ok, but I won't and I'll just say DAMN you are incredible for feeling so optimistic. 10 days will pass quickly, and you'll be back to normal ;) Enjoy your deserved sick days!

o really is a bummer. i had my sprang my ankle so many times i can't even count it anymore lol. it goes away in few days :D and if its not swolen then it will probably pass in 1 or 2 days :)

Sorry about your ankle I know your bummed.I think I would have an attack if anything happened to me before saturdays 5k:eek:
You totally deserve the break though, it may have been your bodies ways of say SLOW DOWN!!!LOL
I hope you feel better and your ankle heals with out a problem.Your grampa will be happy to see you at the finish line for sure.

Update: My ankle is not swollen. It is not bruised. It is sore when I walk. That is it! I still don't want to go to work. I'm still crushed. I'm a Big Baby because I never played sports and thus have never suffered a "sports injury" ;) BUT believe it or not, I was a KLUTZ as a little girl, and I constantly stubbed and bloodied my big toes, and twisted my ankles. They never "sprained" per se, but I was always twisting them and they always hurt. I think by 9 or 10 I started to get less klutzy.

Ha Ha Ha - can we say or I mean spell P-R-I-N-C-E-S-S!!!

:rotflmao: LMAO!!!:rotflmao:

Nah, that's fine Cerella, really, I laughed out loud and agree with you, actually!! What a Baby I am!!! :drooling: But still, I am crushed about not running the race with my gramps. Next year, he may be unable to do it--at 78? I dunno....But hey, I'll be there for him!!!

I totally understand the panic you felt about excercise with injuring your ankle....I felt the same way when I hurt my back....I'm glad that its not a bad sprain...you'll be back on the trails in no time!

Enjoy your deserved sick days!

I will, I just think that it sucks we cant use sick days for "mental health", too!! Today I would be too distracted by the pain when I walk, and the humiliation that I was always a proponent of trail running and then I did what everybody said I'd do--injury myself on the uneven ground! Coupled with this ruining my first Wharf to Wharf.......that I planned on doing with my beloved grandpa......wah!!

This post made me feel really optimistic!! No swelling, no bruises! It crunched when it happened, though, so it's not psychosomatic! LOL!!! :rotflmao: Really!!!! :rotflmao: It's sore and hurts to walk on it, but the BF told me not to baby it too much or it won't heal properly. I'm, like I whined about earlier, mainly disappointed about this ruining the race. Also, I'm worried about doing it again!!

.

Awwwwww thanks sweetie! Yes, you know how I feel--and I'm looking forward to hearing how your 5K went. I can't remember if this is your first???? I have a big tip for you: do not be intimidated by the other women. You have no way of knowing if they are faster than you by looking. Well......LOL!!! Some tall, skinny perfect-looking 19-year-old may be a fair shot of guessing she's faster, trust me! IT HAPPENED TO ME!! ha ha ha ha!! :rotflmao: Nah, I know you're doing this for fun, and I'm so happy for you!!!

Thank you! :) --hey how does your back feel lately? Does it act on when you're on the t'mill sometimes? Lemme ask in your diary.....

All I want to say is, GOOD FOR YOU, taking some time off!! My mom did the same thing last weekend when out in the trail doing her walk, she's feeling 10times better today, so it shouldn't take to long for you to heal, your YOUNG, in good shape and you'll take care of it. Enjoy your day off and don't eat to much!!!

That's what I've heard!! I remember being young...and a brat. I knew I was a brat at the time, but I couldn't help it!! LOL!! Looking back I think I was bratty, but my mom says I was a good kid. My housemate was being a jerk last night and I laughed it off and told him he was just hungry. Like kids, you know they get bratty when they're hungry or tired. He hadn't eaten all day and he was drinking wiskey. Sure enough after the other housemate made a pizza he was happy as a fly in shit!!

Hee heee hee hee!!! The rep thing is so funny!!! There's a thread about it, "Still Hurting" (what a sad name!!) was asking about it. Wishes said some cute shit about it. All I know is that I'm going to give it out like gangbusters, no need to be stingy, there are a BUNCH of cool people on here, saying great stuff!

Ya I give it out a fair amount also - why not!!! Hope your day is great - get soem rest for me too Ka!!!

REST!?!?! I'm laid out for fuck's sake!!! LOL! Man I am HUNGRY.

HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY.

Where's my buddy? I might have to crawl downstairs to my car and get b-fast, there ain't shit for food here--I keep all my food at work!

Hunger

Oh man I need to eat. there are some Cabaret crackers here, but that's not nutritious. Ok I'll eat one........mmmmm, salty! Yuck, I can taste the nutritional void!!!

I am a Princess today. Princess Baby, with my ankle (formerly a kankle) up. I'm going to rant, don't try to make me feel better, I just need to get this out!

*grabble grabble* First a fucking WASP stings my left ankle. It swells to a kankle and hurts and itches for 4 days. In that time I couldn't run. Monday I weight trained, Tuesday I did Kickboe, yesterday I ran in the woods. 1st time trail running since Wed when I was trail running and got stung. Then I fucking stupidly go farther with tired ankles and run straight uphill and over some branches and BAM! CRUNCH! FALL!! SOB!! Now no race this Sunday. Now I have to get in chlorinated water and pretend like I'm running in deep water. Do you realize how bored I'm going to be?? I won't even be able to listen to my damn iPod!!! Also, I'll need to diet. I think I'm ready. What also sucks is I have to move in a week. What if my ankle is still all fucked up then? Eh, I doubt it. I think I'll be fine.

Right now I'm macking on the Cabaret crackers, wishing "YAN CAN COOK" was here making me b-fast. *grabble grabble*

At least it's a BEAUTIFUL day in the forest--let me get a picture in here.....

Hey Val! Sorry to hear about your ankle.. I know you are pretty bummed out. Your BF is right though.. having numerous sprains, twists and other malfunctions with my ankles from sports, walking it out always seemed to heal it quicker... if you can bear the pain that is. Ice it, the heat.. then walk around and keep it loose. It's the stiffness that tends to be hard to shake if you baby it too much.

Just some words from experience! Hope you feel beeter soon girl!!! :hug2:
