Thank you Lena and Tom!

Today I'm going to go through my old paperwork when I lost the first 21 lbs and see what I was doing and how I did it again, and start fresh. I'm going to quit drinking again for a while, and also make sure to cut out rich foods. Then go from there.

I think so for sure! Drinking makes me eat more and have less resolve to avoid junk--and adds empty calories. This great weather makes me want Chardonnay and beer, ACK!

Yeah, I used to have a Friday ritual where I would sit down on the porch with a double shot of Dalwhinnie single malt. I only do that about once a month now.

And beer for some reason just makes me put on weight like crazy. Wine doesn't seem to hurt, but beer is the death of me.

Self Magazine! Reppin' Santa Cruz!!

SO in Self Magazine this month (for June), I found on pg 32, my gym buddy Kristen!!

I haven't known her before she was around 147-150 lbs, and currently she's working so hard (I see her at the gym) getting her body fat down even further. But I was so happy/proud to see her in the article--and our gym is a local gym, too, so we (me, owner, trainers, especially her trainer Kelvin) were all excited about it!!!

Here's the article: As far as I know she hasn't done this forum but if she did the Self Challenge, I believe she has followed similar methods.

I've been sort of coming to some conclusions regarding dieting.

1. When you lose a lot of weight or get down to that final 5 or 10% you are literally fighting your body and it is going to fight tooth and nail to stay chunky.

2. You are guaranteed to go off track if you stay at it long enough. The trick isn't staying on track, the trick is getting back on immediately and not going on a binge. If you're off for a meal don't make it a day. If you're off for a day don't make it a week. If you're off for a week don't make it a month.

3. Exercise is key.

4. Constant support like I get from this forum is key.

You're on the right track. Find out what you were doing that worked and get back to it.

I completely agree with you Cannon!

Curvie Girl - Very exciting about your friend being in Self! I hope the weightloss is going well. Glad to meet you.

Thanks, Cannon and Heidi!~

Cannon: Totally! You're 100% right, but I can expect that because you are a veteran/expert! Well, and we're all still learning.

Yesterday was my 1st day of a whole new me--regardling weight loss. May was an awful month, the offset of ApriL'S ELATION. Wow April was such a wonderful, fun month!

Anyway, I was a complete angel yesterday and I ate...

1520 calories

I worked, I ran for 41 minutes, and did a BUNCH of laundry and cleaning. I wasn't particualrly hungry because of my excessive eating/drinking over the weekend, but sometimes after overeating the next day I'm not hungry. Makes sense.

Anyway, I burned off plenty, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to be running again and I am fast, I tell you--not for a racer but for the average 24 year old girl I think I am!! It only took me 2 running sessions to get back to where I was--thanks to HIIT and weights.

I'm going to follow Cannon's advice and concentrate on nutrition. I'm also going to use Tom's method and calculate my weekly coloric needs--after the fact, because each week is slightly different, to see where I should be at as far as deficits.

My caloric needs though are about 2300-2500 a day. I'm aiming for 1800 calories a day, although Tom has warned me that I should only be losing 3 lbs a month, not 5, if I want to maintain muscle mass. I'm hoping I can sidestep that with heavy weights 2Xs a week.

However, I could not do weights Monday as my gym was closed. Today is my precious kickbow, and Thursday morning I'm trying out Cambodian ground fighting with a new trainer. Wednesday will have to be weight day, then maybe I can squeeze in a session Friday or Saturday so I can go back to Monday weight days.

Ok, busy today, I'll be by to visit a few of you when I can.

Hey Val. :)

Your cousin is very genetically blessed. You can tell from his build. Very impressive.

Doing what you did for the last 21 lbs won't necessarily work for the next... not that you have 21 more lbs to lose. But you catch my drift, I hope.

Hi Bruce! Thanks for stopping by!

OH! Bruce and Beth were going to come by, but as fate would have it, things may not exactly work out. The DAY Bruce PMed me about the 21st of July, Richard Alfaro asked me to pour at his winery because his partner would be gone and he really needed me

Ah well! Maybe they'll find Miss Jelly Belly!!

Steve! Hi!! Yes my second cousin is blessed, check out THIS action shot:

Juliette: Thanks so much! Cheers! (non-alcoholic beverage)

Bethann: Thank you!

Yes! I know, I gained back some of that 21 lbs. But as it goes, I know exactly why: I ate too much. Plain and simple. The very first 15 lbs were a damn breeze--but then I struggled to lose 3 more and then my body was like, "I want to be 150+ again" and I ate as if in a trance. Mindlessly. So as it goes, I L-O-V-E intense exercise and I lift weights religiously (except for yesterday), but while I THOUGHT I had eating under control--I didn't. Obviously this is going to be a lifelong struggle--but like Cannon said, never give up, catch yourself ASAP!

Hey There Sexy Curves!! How's it going girlfriend?? It seems you've been online a lot more lately, and I've been away. Damn, I hate when I miss all the good stuff. Ahhhh the graduation, is that awesome, I balled when mine went up Thursday night to accept the diploma, It's so overwhelming! How often are you running during the week now?? Are you still doing the gym regularly? I know you eat good, so I won't even ask you about that. Your smokin hot, so don't sweat the bad month of May, alright my friend! I would do about anything to have your bod! Just keep on going, and don't dwell on past months, we all have those, I know I'm due for one soon. I'll check in later, I have so many diary's to visit, that's the only bad thing about being on vacation for a week, all the catching up. I'll talk at you later gator!!
~hugs~

LOL!

Love ya!

Running: just started up, heel is healed! SO I ran for the first time on Friday and the second yesterday, and I haven't lost any fitness thanks to HIIT!

Gym: Yes, more than I was when I was running because I needed CARDIO!

Eating: Been bad lately--desserts and bread!! Drinking! But I'm back on a strict diet.

You're so sweet!! Thanks for the compliments!

That really sucks! We'll have to figure something out.. Maybe we'll come down that way anyway when we are in San Francisco and get free wine from you when you are pouring! :) We'll hook up with MJ and drag her along too! Hopefully something will happen and you are free! :)
