DCarr10760's Weight loss diary

Yeah, if you keep injuring yourself, don't run. I get worried sometimes when I'm pounding downhill as fast as I can....I certainly hope the weight training is helping my joints and all.

Yeah, it's gonna be hard--peer pressure is a bitch! It sure looks weird when someone eats skimpily at a dinner with friends or business partners. Hang in there!!!

Yep, these are guys I've known for some time, all (except one) are big eaters and overweight. We've "Eaten our way across America" for years together. They're "Real Men" Woo! Woo! (a la Tim-the-tool-guy-Taylor).

I will take some kidding for sure. But my shoulders are broad! The hardest part will be pacing myself and not drinking too many beers

Hi Everybody!

I hope you had a nice weekend.

Mine was nice, I turned 47 at 7:01 this AM so today was filled with celebratory events. First I made everybody a birthday breakfast (they at least did the dishes) then I drove my Middle boy to the in-laws to celebrate Autumn by the pool closing ceremony, getting it ready for the Winter.

Then SWMBO and Davy joined us for Dinner and I had some Birthday cake and Ice cream.

So it was a fun day all around.

47 feels a lot like 46 just a bit odd ;)

Good Morning All~

Thanks for the Birthday greetings, Stacy!

The weekend was not very good in terms of my fitness goals. I didn't refeed, aka pig out except for a second brownie and spoonful of ice-cream at my 'Birthday dinner.' But I didn't eat according to plan either.

My sense is that my calories are near maintenance. Assuming that my maintenance is still around 2500 - 3000 cals per day.

So this week, as I have mentioned above will be difficult in terms of healthful eating because I will be traveling for a couple of days, in training meetings for a couple and will be eating meals out generally.

My plan is to eat a big breakfast, pack a few apples, we often eat at a restaurant where they'll make me London Broil and steamed veggies, so that is lunch and then dinner will be about making the best choices. I will limit myself to two beers a day and we'll see how I do.

I'll think of this week as a refeed and make a new effort starting Saturday and keeping at it 'til Thanksgiving.

I'm sorry that SWMBO has lost interest in buying a good elliptical trainer... :(

She has 20 lbs to lose before she is happy with herself (she looks great, but...). She is constantly dieting a couple of days then hitting the soda and snacks. I can't really say much safely, but I think she'd like the elliptical as it's easy on the knees (she used to be a competitive skier but has had ACL operations on both knees).

So I need to find a way to motivate her. It would help us both.

In any case, I'll buy an elliptical trainer myself, I just wanted her to feel more "invested" Oh well...

Time to play businessman!

LOL! You crack me up as usual. I loved the Tim-the-tool-man-Taylor comment. Ah-ooooooo!! Yeah, I've eaten my way across the Eastern half of the country...lol. Back in 2000 my H and I went on a 5-week road trip. I remember the cities we visited by the food we ate--cuban in Miami, Korean in NYC, Mexican in Naples, Fl, Indian in Milwaukee, Po' Boys in Vicksburg, MS, etc...lmao.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!

Glad you had a nice one with your family--and managed not to go crazy with the eating and beer. Nice job.:)

Have a great week out of town. :beerchug:

Hey handsome....

dropping in to wish you a Happy Belated B-day and many more to come! :) I'd get fancy and do all the font/ color stuff, but I think I'm always doing that in your journal. I'll save your eyes for the time being. hahaa I'm hoping your week out of town with the "Real Men" will be great... and I'm sure you'll do just fine. :hug2:

Happy Birthday!!!

Hey! My mom was born in 1960, too! :D

Glad you had fun! SWMBO will most likely be very pleased with you on the elliptical idea--and if you can stand it, it will help you get lighter so you can start running!!! :jump:

Hey guess what: I quit (gulp) drinking until Halloween :(

It's actually the best decision I made in a long time!
Ciao! :hug2:

So yesterday wasn't so bad.

I did well with eating through lunch. Dinner was not so good tho' We went to this nice old Irish bar. Not the kind that's trying to be an authentic Irish pub, but one that is more styled after a Boston bar.

We watched the Yankees soil the bedsheets and ate the meatloaf special which was enormous. Finished the meat, 'et up all the green beans passed on the taters and tried to scrape off as much of the viscous brown gravy as I could discreetly remove.

Beer total for the day was four pints, no hard stuff at all.

All in all, not terrible. Nothing going on tonite. Tomorrow's the big day!

Best to all!

David

Yesterday was an odd day.

I did really pretty well on the diet front. I didn't drink very much, just two beers at lunch.

I was expecting to be in meetings and training all day, but they put off the technical training until today so I sorta had the day to myself, which gave me the odd moment to play in photoshop (Heehee).

Took a short walk this AM. I am really falling down with the exercise this week. But next week will be better.

Have a good'n!

Well, your photoshop exploits were well worth the time involved...:rotflmao:

The week's not over--so get out there and work that beer off--maybe SWMBO could help you with your workouts. ;)..:jump:

YAY for the diet success!

I was gonna say, "Get your ass in gear" in regards to exercise but I realized this was your birthday week, so screw it :D Have a great Hump Day!

Hey handsome,

first off, the pic is hilarious!!! I flat out started laughing loud last night after I got home from the gym when I saw it. It was definitely a surprise! Thanks, angel! hahaa

As for the exercise... I wouldn't worry. Like you did this morning, try getting in small workouts whenever you have the chance betw/ meetings, etc. (AM walk) I'm sure once you get back, you're going to start hitting the exercise hard. :hug2:

Sheryl I'm glad you liked the pic, lol.

Yesterday was not good on the health front. The whole sad story is:

Breakfast: normal, at home- pretty healthy.

AM Snack: donut

Lunch: London Broil and Steamed Veggies, 2 pints of Guinness

PM Snack: donut (we brought them in for the training meeting)

Happy hour extra snack: 2 pints of Guinness, one each of the following: deep fried mozzarella stick, jalapeno popper, fried mushroom and a zucchini tempura.

Dinner: Cajun medley including: Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya, crawfish ettouffe (sp?), some other thing and some killer crawfish bisque. Two pints of some not so bad local brew.

Nightcap two healthy pours of DeWars on the rocks at a bar where the guys and I were the oldest in the room by at least 2 decades. A small basket of chips and salsa.

So it was a lot to drink but it was over several hours. Way too much to drink. I don't even want to think about how many calories it might've been...

I feel like shit this AM, not hungover so much (it was only 8 drinks after all) but tired and bloated. What is amazing is that before I started taking better care of myself, days like yesterday were regular occurrences. No wonder I'm fat...

So today and tomorrow will be better, most of the reps are gone home so no more dinners out.

I did get a pretty significant electrical shock yesterday. I was demonstrating a safety issue with our equipment (high voltage test equipment used to test plastic products) and took an accidental 20,000 volt pop to the hand.

Before you get nervous, while it was 20kV, it is extremely low current (about 1.5 milliamperes for you engineering types) but it was enough to make me jump off of the ground and drop the high voltage probe I was holding.

Worst of it was that I was giving a safety demonstration to the reps so that they could talk to customers about it. I did have the presence of mind to say, "See, that's the worst shock you can get from our equipment, be sure to include that demonstration in your presentations, who'd like to try it first?"

So I didn't feel like too much of an ass.

The rest of the day passed in blissful, serene, electroshock therapy-induced calm.

Today will be a good day!

Holy crap.. when I read 20k volts, my eyes about fell out of my head. Now current wise, 1.5 milliamperes... okay that's not all too bad. But still... that must have scared the shit out of you! haha By the way... GREAT save!

Your business trip is about over, right? Not a frett, doll.... so binged here and there. You'll be home soon and being as determined as you are, you'll get back into the groove of things easily. :) You're doing awesome, David, but it's always nice to look back at one's old habits and realize they just aren't worth it anymore. :hug2:

It sounds much scarier than it is. If you walk across the rug in stocking feet in January and touch a metal doorknob the shock you feel is roughly 3000 volts but at tiny amounts of current. So this was way more aggressive than that, but not dangerous except if you have a bad heart or if during the involuntary muscular contraction, you injure yourself secondarily.

All I hurt was my credibility and my pride! :rotflmao:

So I work through lunch today, then drive folks back to the airport and I'm done!

Yesterday was much better eating and drinking wise, but still not good. Starting with dinner tonight, I'm back on the program. Thank goodness!

Have a great FRIDAY all!!!
