This was my post from yesterday, which I pasted into a doc once I realized the site was buggy.
I didn't feel like working around the house yesterday. Davy has a touch of a cold and was feeling housebound and bored so I said to SWMBO, "Let's all go on a hike!" We have a nice nature preserve near the house that She and I used to use regularly before the boy came, but not since. She agreed, but without the enthusiasm I had anticipated.
So we did the hike, about 45 mins, not a lot of climbing but some. I was pushing the stroller (one of those three-wheeled jogging types with big knobby wheels...sorta the Hummer of baby strollers).
SWMBO was walking on just ahead (that's what I like about not being lead dog the view NEVER changes...
) She wasn't being real talkative (or friendly) but Davy was enjoying everything, the bumpy ride, the trees and the pond. He kept calling, "that is?" and I would tell him.
We had a great time. SWMBO, however was not having a great time. I guess she's pretty out of shape and was suffering her way through the walk. I tried to keep things light by saying stuff like, "Won't you feel great knowing you got a nice walk in so early in the day?" She just sort of grumbled...
Finally I suggested gently, "We should do this more often, we get out of the house and spend some time together, Davy really loves it and we could all use the exercise!
She turned around and looked at me with a look that communicated that she would rather be having breakfast in bed (alone) watching television. The look invited no further discussion. Sigh.
Seems "somebody" was up 'til 1:00 the night before with her allergies... and the idea of a bucolic ramble through nature on a bright, crisp Autumn morning seemed more like a forced march through a cold, damp minefield of allergens.
Well, Davy and I enjoyed ourselves anyway.
I can't wait to see what's in store today!
