DCarr10760's Weight loss diary

CG,

I was married and now divorced from the woman who is the mother of my two older boys. I am now life-partnered with the woman who is the mother of my youngest son, Davy.

Getting married now, for me is complicated. Having children from my first marriage complicates things financially and from an estate planning point of view.

While my partner has come to love my older children, they are not "hers." Since she and I bring $$$ to the relationship, she wants to ensure that her share goes to her child (Davy) and isn't divided 3 ways. I respect that, but I want to protect the rights of all of my children, and particularly want to help my older boys through college.

So it is hard for she and I to put all our marbles into one bag. For the present, until my older boys are through college, it is simpler to stay separate financially and not marry.

I believe we will get married, one day. But I am content with things this way. My commitment to her is absolute and I am (like you) unencumbered by religious concerns (regarding marriage).

It sure doesn't sound very romantic does it? We went through a very hard time, she and I working this all out and it left lots of bruises to us both. But marriage is a partnership involving romance, legal status and finances and these things need balance to work well.

It is soooo much simpler when you are young and have nothing but love and build your lives together. But the reality with second marriages with kids is that the business part needs to work in lockstep with the romance.

Warning: Baby poop talk!

Hey Everybody!

Tough night! All day giving training to foreign (Germany) Sales Representatives. SWMBO is at a sales training meeting herself in Boston 'til Thursday.

Since Davy was sick last weekend, he hasn't had a single bowel movement (3 days, now) and whatever bug he had I got! I've been nauseated all day and tired.

So Davy was fussy and didn't eat much or feel well. I gave him his bath and he screamed! (I think he was having cramps) then it all stopped and he was happy...Uh Oh! Sure enough, CODE BROWN!!! He's finishing his business as I am lifting him out of the tub (plop plop, fizz fizz Oh what a relief it is...).

So I clean him up (mind you, I'm ready to hurl myself) dress him for bed, read 3 books, say goodnight (he's tired and happy now) Then clean up the bathroom with bleach while taking every toy out of the tub to sanitize them.

I've had more relaxing evenings...

Hope you're all having more fun.

Ummm...I'm definitely having more fun! :rotflmao: Sorry you had such a shitty evening.haha. I hope you feel better, though. It is hard enough to go to work, etc when you're feeling down. But taking care of a child who's not feeling so hot either just makes it worse. But I'll bet little Davy was cute as could be when he was all happily snuggled in bed. Guess that makes it all worth it.:)

Ah Morning comes with fresh promise for the new day!

No walk today (can't leave the baby alone in the house). I feel a bit better this AM, not 100%, but functional. I'm wicked dehydrated (was down to 244 on the scale) I'll suck that all back in.

Yesterday was terrible, food wise. I only managed 1000 calories! I just didn't feel like eating. I'm not all that hungry now, but forced down my oatmeal anyway.

I dropped into bed at 9:30 last night and had to drag myself out at 6:30. I'll try to keep things quiet today, but I still have the sales training going on. Boy would I love to play hooky and spend the day sleeping.

Have a great day all!

David C

Another day!

SWMBO got home and we had a pizza. Fortunately, for me, Davy is now eating two pieces himself (not completely eaten, but I DON'T want what's left :) ). So that leaves 3 pieces of the small pie for me. FitDay tells me that is 450 calories so that and a peach for dessert kept me in my target range despite the business lunch and a pint of Guinness (or two).

This morning I took a walk and it was very nice, I didn't go real fast, just enjoyed myself.

This AM I stepped on the scale and weighed 244! It has been a full day since I was sick and didn't eat and lost lots of fluid, so I guess that's my new low weight.

I don't recommend illness as a weight loss method though.

Good day all!

Well Yesterday was not at all good on the diet front.

I made it through lunch okay but we were planning to have dinner with the company owners and the German reps who are visiting us for sales and technical training.

The owners couldn't meet us until 6:30 so we went to  Happy Hour

I got very happy! :beerchug: Then we went to the restaurant and I got happier! Then when we said goodbye to the owners we went to my favorite Irish bar and became happier still.

Not so happy am I this morning...:drooling:

Roughly 3900 calories if I am remembering everything. But no dessert! That's where I drew the line (6 or seven pints of beer and a couple of whiskeys okay, but carrot cake? Noooooo)

It's a thin straw but I'm grasping it!

Needless to say, when 5:00 AM came around I had better things to do than walk...

Today will be better. Right back on the horse! (It was fun though!)

Man! You sound like an Asian businessman--out til the wee hours getting hammered--I mean happy...lol

I'll bet you're very happy to have your better half back--now you can go and have those pints...lol

I've just caught up on you David, sounds hectic but fun. Luckily I haven't had any poopie tub episodes yet with my baby . Glad you got to "unwind" with your colleagues, its a nice excuse to get out of the house when you have a baby. Excellent job on the *new low* :)!

Well today was good, sorta... eating was fine and I had a great walk this AM. But while I was working around the house I passed out unconscious and was there for some amount of time (minutes) before SWMBO found me!!

So off to the emergency clinic I went, white as a ghost and still disoriented. They hooked me up to a heart monitor, took a chest X-ray and BP and vitals and bloodwork. Everything was fine (my BP is always high, so it wasn't abnormally high) but I was dehydrated.

It's possible that dehydration is the cause because Monday and Tuesday I was sick and lost lot's of fluid. During the week I was busy at work and not adhering to my eating and drinking schedule, Thursday I drank a lot of alcohol and this AM took a long walk/run and sweated a lot out. So I could be down a quart (or four).

I did drink lots of water this AM but maybe not enough. I don't eat much salt so may not retain much these days, who knows.

They kept me all afternoon and IV'd me a liter of fluid, scolded me for not calling 911 and going by ambulance (SWMBO drove me one we got a babysitter for Davy) and pretty much consumed the best part of a day.

Interestingly (according to the Doc) when you are severely dehydrated as I was, drinking a ton of pure water is not a good idea. The water washes even more salts away (through sweat and urine). She suggested something with electrolytes and sugar (Gatorade, etc.)

See, I learned something new and I didn't even have to die in the process!

Not a bad day at all.

Whoa! That was a close one David . I'm glad everything seems to be ok for you now . Better take it easy for a couple of days.
Paul

OMG, David that must've been scary. And then what a drag of a day hanging out at the hospital. Interesting about the Gatorade, I'll keep that in mind. Feel better, and like Paul said, take it easy for a few days.

Yikes! That is scary! I'm glad everything turned out ok. I guess you've learned from that experience. Good thing your SWMBO found you when she did. :hug2: :hug2:

Thanks Everybody for your concern.

I was actually pretty scared, my Mom had stroke after stroke leading up to her death, and that's the first thing I thought of, as I lay in the ER with an IV hanging off of my hand and EKG electrodes plastered all over me**

I'm so glad it was not that. I guess I'm going to cut out drinking for a while, except for an occasional glass of wine. I do not really drink much anymore (except on business trips) maybe one or two drinks a week.

Well today I did take it easy and I feel pretty good.

**As an aside, I now have a greater appreciation the pain women go through waxing legs and bikini lines. Removing the electrodes was incredibly painful! I now have a half dozen bare patches all over my chest!! OUCH!, OUCH, OUCH!!!

I can't imagine how it must hurt near the tender bits!!

First off, thank goodness you're doing much better. Sheesh... you're not allowed to scare us like that anymore, David. :D I'm just glad that it was only dehydrated... Hmmm the next time that happens, I'm going to have to pull a Dr. MGB and give you a Gatorade Enema, mister man. (I know.. I know.. I'm not right. hahaaaa!)

Now... as for the electrode removal.. that cracked me up! You're a freaking riot as always. Lose the weight, but never that awesome humor of yours, doll. :hug2:

Yes, waxing hurts like a mofo--which is why I seldom do it. I'm a big baby and don't like pain--much less unnecessary pain...lol

Ahhhh, promises, promises ;)

Well I feel a whole lot better and I am pretty sure dehydration was the culprit as I ate very little on Sat. (being half the day in the ER) and right on my numbers on Sunday and this AM weighed 246! I added the weight of a liter of fluid.

I took a walk this am and went easy but it felt good. This is a quiet week, a good time to recharge.

Thanks again for the concern everybody!

David C.

Good morning David! Gosh, what a scare is right! But glad to hear it was not something serious. Hope you are feeling much, much better!

Beth

David I'm so to hear you've been sick!
Gosh and the little one too?

I'm so glad to hear you're starting to feel better
Take it easy till you get your strength back

I'll be thinking about you!
