:rotflmao: The bodybuilder life!
I suggest if you´re trying to get into running you don´t start with something that´s super hard for you. Maybe run for half a minute, walk for two, repeat five times? And remember to start out slowly.
So I’m starting with week 1 of a couch to 5k type app. It goes like this:

5 minutes: Walk

Repeat this sequence 7 times:
1 minute: run
1.5 minutes: walk

So you’re suggesting I run the 45 seconds of that minute and feel good about it because I’ll build up my time eventually. I love that. New plan!
:leaving:

Whatever works for you. C25k should generally feel easy, especially at first and especially when you're a bit heavier. Get used to the motion, make sure you have the energy to cushion your steps properly so your joints don't suffer.

I think I’m headed towards a paleo type diet instead, with lots of healthy fats and fruits and veggies... my short term goal will be to replace the peanut butter snack with fruit... Onward and upward!
I am sure you will do the best thing, I am not sure what a paleo diet is, is that the caveman diet? Lots of mastodon and insects I suppose. I do think replacing that delicious sounding peanut butter snack with fruit sounds like a good idea. And I think you meant "Onward and downward!" didn't you?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Lamaria and Rob. Yeah, I’m really struggling with the running, even that first week is brutal. I might just repeat the first week for a couple months. :rotflmao:

Ryan and I didn’t get much of a workout the other day when we took the tour, it was more a few moves here and there but mostly standing around chatting. So I went yesterday and I think it was the best workout so far. I did the elliptical then made the rounds on the usual machines, then I was brave enough to head over into the scary free weight room. I used one machine there, did some smith machine squats with only this special 15 lb bar they had, and some hip thrusts.

This morning I really feel like I can start to see my arms shaping up. And I’m down another POUND TO 215!!!! 12%!!!

I got myself a little confused yesterday with the keto / paleo thing. Yes, I think that is the caveman diet. I went on this other keto forum and put a few days on up for review. Looking for feedback, tips, whatever. I’m doing a lot right, but I need to make a few changes. I’m doubling down on the keto. :willy_nilly:

I like routine and repetition, it’s comforting and it’s found it’s way into my diet. But by doing so, I’ve lost a bit of variety. And I’ve strayed from keto in a few areas (half and half, lite mayo). So the heavy whipping cream is back, but the peanut butter is out in favor of a bit of variety and extra that I’m really missing right now. Here’s today’s lineup:

This gets me 1,183 calories and 24 net carbs. Putting my focus back on healthy fats, clean eating, and variety.

Good for you! 215 must feel good to you! I am sure your arms aren't the only thing shaping up, you are probably feeling better everywhere. Keep it up.

If you´re not 100% certain of your weighted exercises be sure to get a professional to look at it before you start loading up the weights.
Thanks LaMaria, I was a little concerned about the squats, they felt weird. But I had the trainer check me over and she said I was good to go. Just moving slowly and even the 15 pound bar was a challenge.

Hey Davis, how goes the battle? Did you have a good weekend?
Hi Rob! The battle goes well! No earth shattering news on the scale front, just good eating and exercise.

Actually had a mishap over the weekend on Saturday. Drank some bourbon cream liquor. Oh, it was so good. Drank the whole bottle with my older son and it was AWESOME! I’m not much of a drinker, it was a one off and unfortunately made for a 2,000 calorie day.

Then yesterday I was all jazzed up to work out fasted, apparently this is a thing. Well my regular schedule is eat lunch and go workout, but I wanted to try to work out fasted, so I left for the gym at around 11 then had to run an errand, long story longer, at 2 pm I had a slice of breakfast pizza at Casey’s so complete sabotage. 26EEDDD8-8CEE-4762-BC22-7BD1CC680311.jpeg

Yup. Bad news. It was delicious!!! And this morning my weight is some terrible unmentionable number so it’ll take a few days to recover from that. But that will be just in time for my 60 day update on 9/6 so I’m excited for those pictures.

Have you heard of DietBet or HealthyWage? My niece told me about these, you bet that you are going to weigh a certain number on a certain day and they pay out, somehow this is legal. So I’ve got a few bets going, now time to make the numbers move!

I'd say a bottle of bourbon cream liquor with your son isn't so horrible, especially if it doesn't happen often. A 549 calorie lunch now and again isn't bad either. If you get back at it you'll be fine, so get back at it.

And enjoy Labor Day!

Glad it was delicious and really it doesn´t look bad, calorie-wise, if it kept you full until dinner. That horrible number could well be water weight due to the ~75 metric tons of salt in that pizza slice, which should get out of your system soon enough.

You'll bounce back down again Pam. At least it was delicious. I hate it when you splash out on something & it's disappointing. Now, they are wasted calories!

I'm stunned that half a whole bottle of any cream liqueur is only 2000 calories! Noted, definitely, for future ref!!
And then...

Well, deliciousness as well as staying alive is what calories are for! So, go, you! :hurray:

Nope, I never have (heard of them). Who does the weighing, and where? If it's them, can you trust their machines? (What a nasty, sneaky mind I've got!)

Haha! I think the same way as you! They make you film your own weigh in — I’m sure there are ways to cheat. In fact, I “cheated” by weighing myself in the middle of the day to start, I’m positive my last weigh in will be promptly when my butt gets out of bed.

Just testing them out. I made a $10 4% bodyweifgt bet in 4 weeks (DietBet) and a $50/month 42 lb bet on 6 months (HealthyWage). We’ll see how it goes...

Dietbet is a great motivation to lose weight. I think I’ll try it!!! That’s a great idea to weigh in the middle of the day. I’ll do that too!

:p Haha I’m a terrible influence! It’s not really cheating, you’re not supposed to weigh first thing or anything.

Looks like a bit of bad news on the keto diet. I’ll be gathering more info.

Always consider the source, Pam: nutritionfacts.org is made by Dr. Greger, a big veganism proponent. Doesn´t mean he´s lying but he is biased. As far as I can tell keto shows no bigger weightloss than other diets in the long run, mostly because few people manage to stick with it long-term, but for the people who are happy to stick with it, it does seem to work. The thing about losing mostly water at first is well-known and makes sense but after the first week or so there´s no more water weight to lose (unless you start eating carbs again, at which point that water weight comes back right away) so what you lose after that IS mostly fat.

Ok good, thanks for pointing that out.

After that video ran, YouTube went on autopilot and showed me 3 more anti-keto clips. Oy vey.

To add to the doubt, I am down 0 pounds for the past week. I know I had that one bad day, but technically I was still at a calorie deficit. This morning I was at 216.2, up from my lowest of 215 also about a week ago. I’m thinking to drop from 1,250ish to 1,100. Ish. I’m dropping the crystal light.

Yesterday was another drag my ass into the gym kind of day. My legs were still a bit sore from the am walk and the first half of the workout I just slogged through. When I got to the weight machines, my regular weight was easy across the board so I just upped the reps and left the weight alone. That made me feel really strong and the rest of the workout was awesome. It was later in the day so when I hit the pool, I got to swim in the sun. I love that.

I’ve got to get seriously serious about this dieting. I did the DietBet thing but then I impulsively with this one too. This is big money for me — it’s going to be tough to hit...

I have a feeling I’m going to have to scream out every pound ... good grief! This graphic shows a prize of $1,000 — what it doesn’t show is I’ll pay $50 a month for 6 months for the chance at the prize, and will forfeit that cash if I don’t win.
