OK Val, you need to start writing a column for a newspaper!!!

THIS IS JUST SUCH A FEEL GOOD PLACE!!!! It's the highlight of my morning :)

I think everybody needs as much "feel good" as they can get, and this journal is chock-full of it :D

It's a nice feeling to be spoiled, isn't it?

Hey hey honeychild :)

Glad to see things are going so well for you. I really need to read your journal everyday just so it can be my daily dose of inspiration, and to get me out of a sour mood, lol..

So so nice of Chris. He's such a gem. That's awesome about the 140lbs and the no drinking in a fortnight (that is two weeks right?, if not correct me)...

School is wippin my ass and taking no prisoners. I got my first Patho test on Thursday and I feel pretty confident about it. Yesterday was my lab day and it wiped me out. I learned how to take vitals, lol... Something that is pretty easy but I'm not very good at taking BP. I gotta work on it and get better.

Take Care,
Sam

Oooooh....VAL...so glad you had a good weekend...other than still being a little sick :(....but it'll completely pass soon though. It's been a minute though I know...:icon_bs: ...So it's funny that you mention the Sweat part about Yoga, cause I was wondering if I was the ONLY one who broke out a sweat during class?!?!...but I guess it also has a lot to do with how much effort and concentration you are placing into it though huh.....LOL....(actually most of them don't sweat I noticed until 3/4's into class...and I'm more like 1/4 into class....LOL)

...OMG...I love CHOCOLATE....:drool5: as I was reading that...I HAD to get up and go to the fridge and eat this delicious SUGAR FREE  chocolate I found at some low carb store! Hmmm....SO glad you and PZ are enjoying such yummy aphrodisiacs!!....AND CONGRATS on your 140lbs baby!!! :hurray:

....and 3 weeks into the ALCOHOL challenge and working at a winery...AMAZING! LOL.....:cheers2:....GREAT JOB WOMAN!!!
...(I would read your newspaper column too)!!! .....more SEX though please....LOL :reddevil:!!! .....(And really...your eating is AMAZING lately)! ;)

is going on within walking distance from my house this Saturday.

I've never been to a tasting fair before. Why does one swirl the wine in the glass and do I have to do that every time?? swirl then taste? sniff has to come in there, too, right??

First off, don't panic. Here's my advice to you:

BUNNY'S GUIDE TO WINE TASTING FOR DUMMIES

#1 Eat a 500+calorie, non-spicy BLAND meal 1.5 hours before you go taste
#2 Drink lots of water beforehand and pee at your own house before you leave
#3 Bring a friend
#4 Assess your decision to get drunk or not. Make the decision beforehand, so if it's "not" then you can catch yourself because it's EASY to spiral out of control, trust me, I SEEN it a lot.
#5 Don't worry about being a novice; it's more annoying to people pouring to hear a "Know It All" yuppie yappin' and not sayin' SHIT than it is to answer honest questions.
#6 Try to start with the whites if you like them. This means going back to the winery's table for the reds after you had all the whites in the place, which might be too much of a hassle. If you prefer reds, it's OK to have whites at the first table and switch to all reds after. Ask someone who's already been there "which winery has the best whites?" and start at THAT table.
#7 It is ok to switch from reds to whites, just not preferrable.
#8 There is no need to rinse your glass out with water unless you want a glass of water to drink, or are switching from RED to WHITE. I always know when a person don't know shit about wine tasting when they rinse the glass. Residual water ruins the next pour's wine's Ph and taste--residual WINE is not going to ruin the next pour much at all. If anything, rinse your glass out with a tiny bit of the next wine. The most convenient thing is to just shake the glass upside down (if you're outside, or course) to get as much residual wine out of it as possible, before the next pour.
#9 Only sniff the wine if you truly enjoy the scent of wine. Swirling gets the scent to waft up to your nostrils. If it all smells the same to you, don't bother--no need to act pretentious.
#10 Avoid getting wasted and "joking" with the person pouring to give you larger pours. That is jackass behavior and there actually is a strict rule of 1 or 2 oz pours at most events. Winery personnel can actually get in big trouble if they disobey the rules.
#11 If you decide to get drunk, HANDLE YOUR FADE. It is illegal to serve visibly intoxicated people--pretend you are sober so you don't make the pour-er worry about how you're getting home.
#12 Enjoy! :cheers2:
#13 Oh yes, cheese will ruin your palate for the next wine but you probably shouldn't be concerned about that if you're not a pro. Just make sure to wait until the taste is pretty much out of your mouth before moving on to the next taste if you decide to stop and sample the hors d'oevres.
#14 Oh and it's OK to spit; newbies won't and they think it's gross; professionals sometimes will ONLY spit. You will still get buzzed; the alcohol seeps in transmucosally :D

P.S. Wine tasting can be a big headache the next day; be sure to drink lots of water before bed.

Hey Val,

Just wanted you to know that I did a KILLER strength workout last night and pretty much died… but I was thinking of you telling me to go heavy and that I could do it. My legs are toast today but hopefully my run tonight will loosen them up.

Hope your having a good Tuesday and yay for 140!!!

Solid tutorial, Val. I do extend a generous thank you for taking the time to craft an experienced 'do and dont' list.

Being Italian, I have red wine in my blood, and if I knew anything at all, it would be reds. That really is a solid gold list. I feel more confident for your effort.

Do we tip pourers ?? I assume they're just hired hands, no?

Wine pourers are actually USUALLY the winemaker him/herself! If it's a small winery--a large one, it might be the director of sales or a sales rep for the broker or distributor. Just be friendly and polite and charming. No tipping!

Haha if you WANT, print out my list and if you meet someone with whom you have a good conversation, let them read it and tell you what they think. I'd get a kick out of it :D They probably would too--people in the wine industry are usually down ass beezies and oftentimes stoners, too :sifone:

I'm a horrible thread buddy. :( :blush5: I've been stopping in and reading your posts when I've got the time to spare, but I've been CRAZY busy trying to get ready for Matt to come home(2 weeks left!!!!). but since I'm taking a break from my quilt and cleaning, I figured I'd stop in and say HI! and let you know I'm really not ignoring you, I'm just running around like a loon. :willy_nilly:
Congrats on the 140, glad PZ is such a fantabulous Scorpio(gotta love em :D). Oh and by the way, your hair looks gorgeous in that pic. love it

Aw, that's the most beautiful wine pourer I done EVER laid my southern eyes on ;) Wait a minute ... I'm not from the south, am I?

Well, what I meant to say was FUCK, you're gorgeous, Val!!! Drop fucking dead gorgeous! You could be a model! Maybe I really DID need that new eyeglass prescription :D

Apparently I'm seeing things much better :hurray:

No worries, I know! :D I'm happy for you

Thanks and thanks!!!!

Funny story, I had my hair in a bun all day. Then I wanted someone to get a picture of me, so I let my hair down and posed at the perfect angle, heh heh! So the hair was only like that for a few moments before the waves fell out :ack2:

Aw, that's the most beautiful wine pourer I done EVER laid my southern eyes on ;)
Awww shucks thanks Maureen, but that picture was taken back in summer 2007 when I was still 24 or 25--haggotry has set in quite quickly in the past few years, I'm afraid :(

Oh, then I take it back --- you're not so hot ;)

Haggotry my ass. You're looking fine ;) PZ is VERY lucky!!!!

There's a lot of haggotry going on at the lawfirm I work at. I'm thinking there are many people who don't have mirrors situated anywhere in their homes. Even in the bathroom ...

I just don't understand how some people can come in to work looking like they just got out of bed and threw some clothes on (often they don't even match), their hair hasn't been combed/styled, and they really look like a dog's breakfast.

Makes me wonder if they floss :D

We need more people like you in the world and the world would be such a happier place... :Angel_anim:

i really admire what you have achieved for yourself and i think your an amazing person.

You have a knack of enhancing and enriching people's lives and you are such an incredibly giving person. And you seem to do it so effortlessly. You're a real gem :)

Val, you deserve some damn great romance. When you shine, we all get to bathe in your warmth!!

You know, from reading your journal, it does seem that you do a lot with your life, and that there are a lot of things going on for you. I envy that. I don't do as much as you do in life, and you want to do more? :) You're an awesome person, and everyone around you knows that...You have done more good than most people do in their entire lifetime.

WOW THANK YOU!!!! :beating:

I'm pretty flustered about all these extravagant compliments :blush5:. I'm really touched and blessed to have this sort of connection and stream of positive vibes through the internet! LOL! Glad that you folks enjoy my company, I know I enjoy YOURS and I'm really excited to see you succeed and reach a better mind/body/spirit connection. Because when it comes down to it, excess weight and a lack of fitness are usually symptoms of deeper-lying issues..........and we all know that. Here on the forum we can vent and get support to help us through it. For me, you people have been phenomenal in helping me learn about what works and what doesn't, HOW one can really support another, keeping perspective on my own life, being extremely grateful for what I have, and more courage to carry on :D I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way :grouphug: My diary especially helps me gather and sort my thoughts; it's like you all are the positive little voices in my head :D And I can definitely feel the warm-heartedness flow through......

I had a friend similar to Chris in the sense that he was very suicidal, couldn't even look at himself in the eye in the mirror, and had trouble socializing with people because of his issues.......I defended him in school all these years and got myself in trouble because of it......I Worked so hard to be there for him. I did everything you have done- stopped him from killing himself, tried to tell him that he was worth more than he thought he did........He had open heart surgery twice, and the doctors had to cut open his ribs to access his heart and sew it back up. I was there through the whole thing- I was the only friend he had, literally. ....All of the family pictures through the years were like that. I was appalled when I saw that.

Anyhow, one day, Jeremy just snapped. He lost it and he turned against me, and started to push me away. No reason whatsoever. I still do not understand it to this day. Another friend of mine, who eventually became his friend during his college years- informed me that Jeremy is today living in a crack house in Colorado! He's doing all those kind of drugs... Living off welfare, and just destroying his life.

Maybe it is possible to sit down with Chris, and explain to him that you love him very much, and that you care very much to what happens to him- and that it takes a lot out of you.. And ask him if he can promise you that he won't do anything to himself if you take a couple of days off. Maybe he can see that you've put so much love and effort into him that he would be disappointing you & hurting you if he did anything as you took a break?

Wow. Yes, I feel you and MAN.....SIGH......you put all that love and time and energy into this person and the end result is he's a crackhead? :( That is terrible. Beyond terrible. I'm very sorry. There's not much to do in this situation except to let go, OR go out and find him and save him somehow. I dunno what's best, really

On Chris: I did exactly that and DO do that from time to time. However, he is SO damn moody! Last night he was in a delightful mood :D We had a great time kickin' it. I speak with an open heart and keep it real with him about my feelings, and he respects them. He never really over-steps the line as far as I'm concerned--like he makes no demands on me or anything to that effect. However, when I sense that he especially needs me, even if it wears on me, I make sure to hang out because I'd prefer him be alive and me be exhausted and drained then him.....not be alive. And he was recently adjusting to losing a few medications and getting back on them. I deal with his ups and downs, it's worth it and I'm also able to divert his attention away from his misery when I get him to talk about flying planes or climbing or quantum physics or whatever.

Thanks for your concern!! :hug2:

i was never in such a situation as you or george but i did have an ex boyfriend who was later diagnosed with manic depression. and man was he smart.
LOL, why is it always the SMART, bi-polar ones who are the biggest pains in the ass? :D ;)

and you have done an amazing work with chris. you somehow connected him to all of us here. i admire him and i wish i could spend a day or two talking to him...about so many things.

Ohhhhhhh! :groupdhug: You'd love him. He's absolutely delightful and charming :) When he's not being negative :D

Im glad you are happy and have found your balance between mind/body/soul.

Im glad you found PZ, I totally beleive in Karma and I woudl say you are getting yours:)
Thank you!!!!!!!! I guess, I feel spoiled sometimes and that makes me want to go out and do a beach clean-up or something......by the way I have to organize a beach cleanup, soon--I have 4 other people who'll do it with me, and yes that includes PZ :D

Hey Bunny!!! You are in a GREAT place right now!!! You deserve it, you've worked your ass off for it!!! You are truly special!!! And by that, I mean this.. , not "short bus"!!! Enjoy the amazing people in your life, and keep spreading the "Bunny love"!!!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I will continue to spread the Bunny love as long as I'm a live Bunny!!!!!!

So what is it that you want more? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? You feel whole and connected. That's powerful. You're helping Chris and possibly others. But what else?

:smilielol5: Typical Steve :D

Hmmm, I want to be involved in a community in a larger way, maybe be some sort of organizer or leader for the greater good, somehow. 5 years seems a good time span to figure that out......hmmmmmmmmm

You're such a great friend and I am jealous of your physical friends and glad to have you in my life.... Take your time and the decision will present itself

Love you!
Love you too! :hug2: LOL--"jealous"--you have to be QUITE tolerant to have MY friends, heh heh!!!! :sifone: Just kidding. Thanks, gorgeous, I appreciate that and I'm really eager to see you reach a better place with your curvy body!

Glad to hear the balanced happiness from that post. Sounds like you're in a good place to be to plan and start creating EXACTLY what you want out of life for yourself... and those around you.

Keep on being the inspirational lady you are!!!

Thank you Anke!!!! You're absolutely right, "creating exactly what I want" because I am in a good place--that's fucking genius!!! :smash: I shall TRY!

Val, So good to hear that things are going well for you! :) I love to hear all the goings on in your busy happy life!

Thank you Bethann, you little Traitor--fleeing Cali :D Tee hee hee! :Angel_anim: Nah I hope you enjoy Tennessee WAY more and you can finally de-stress and be a great Me-Maw.
