This Sunday @ Agape Center was FANTASTIC!! :D!!! :iagree:

The Meditative Thought for the Day:

"Living by the theme that "more is better" can cause a poverty mentality. Even if you live in a castle, that castle eventually becomes a cage. Affluence, or genuine wealth, includes the ability to discern the true meaning and place of monetary resources in one's life. The only concept of "more" that does not create poverty mentality is being more of one's Authentic Self, thereby releasing more life-energy." Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith

Health Benefits of Eating Grapefruit: :drool5:

When eating or juicing grapefruit, peel off the skin but leave as much rind intact as possible. Include the rind as it contains the highest amount of valuable bioflavonoids and other anti-cancer agents.

Acidity: Although grapefruit has a sub-acid taste, its juice actually has an alkaline reaction after digestion. This has a profound effect in the treatment of acidity in the digestive system that causes a host of other health problems.

Atherosclerosis: Pectin in this fruit has been found to be effective in reducing the accumulation of arterial deposits, and the vitamin C helps to strengthen and maintain the elasticity of arteries.

Breast cancer: In another study, the bioflavonoids found in grapefruit was discovered to even halt cancer cells from spreading in breast cancer patients, by ridding the body of excess estrogen.

Common cold: A common cold is usually your body telling you that you are overworked. A regular drink of grapefruit during a stressful period gives your immune system the boost needed to prevent it coming on.

Cholesterol:
A certain compound found in grapefruit helps reduce the excessive production of cholesterol from the liver.

Diabetes: A diabetic can safely eat a grapefruit. In fact, more consumption of this fruit will help reduce the starches and sweets in the system. If you have a tendency towards diabetes, consume more grapefruit juice to prevent it.

Digestive disorder: This juice helps to promote digestion by increasing the flow of gastric juices. Eat the fruit together with its rind for its extra fiber that aids bowel movements.

Fatigue: At the end of a long and tiring day, drink a glass of grapefruit juice with lemon juice in equal parts with a little honey, to dispel all fatigue and tiredness.

Fever: Besides drinking plenty of fluids, also drink grapefruit juice to reduce fever.

Insomnia: A drink of grapefruit juice before bedtime, helps to promote sleep and alleviates insomnia.

Pregnant woman: The bioflavonoids and vitamin C help to reduce water retention and swelling of the legs during pregnancy.

Sore throat: Drinking a freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice helps relieve sore throats and soothes coughs.

Stomach and pancreatic cancer: The anti-cancer agents in grapefruit (especially in the rinds) are particularly protective against these cancers in the digestive system.

Weight-loss: This fruit has a fat-burning enzyme and can help to absorb and reduce the starch and sugar in the body. It is widely consumed by people who are trying to lose weight. If you don't fall under the category of people mentioned below (look at "Caution" colum), then take a glass of grapefruit juice twice a day and eat normally.

Health Benefits of Kale:

Health Benefits of Kale in a Nutshell

It provides protection against cancer
Optimizes cells' detoxification / cleansing ability
Prevent damage to the eyes from excessive exposure to ultraviolet light
It promotes lung health
It strengthens immune support.

Tonight is back to SWIMMING @ the Gym after class. ...

"Fat Smash", damn, I like the sound of that! For how long a stretch did you eat raw and how'd it affect you? Hear about the benefits but never knew anyone who actually ate that way.
Congrats on a great Fat Smash Day 1!

That's interesting about the grapefruit. I once read about a woman who would coarsely chop a grapefruit, cover it with boiling water, let it sit overnight, and drink the resulting juice the next morning -- she swore it was the secret to her health and vitality.

hahah...Glad you Like it!!! It's about SMASHING FAT 2010!!! :cheers2:!! YEAAAA!!!!

...I actually started eating Raw last year around this time. I actually did a 25 day Master Cleanse first to rid my body of Toxins and prepare myself mentally for liberating myself of the Standard American Diet Foods, before I started on my Living Foods journey. I stayed eating Raw Living Foods for about 4 1/2 to 5 months 100% Raw!

...It is difficult to lead a 100% raw lifestyle which is why most Raw foodists can maintain a 80%-70% fully raw lifestyle and a Vegan the rest. So I had become a Raw Vegan afterwards, and I FELT THE BESTTTTTTTT IN MY LIFE!!!...

...I looked Fantastic (I wouldn't weigh myself, but I'd say I was around 145lbs ) and I remember that I had the most amazing Energy, Gratitude for food and life and myself, and the food is DELICIOUS if you know how to prepare things and I do!! ;)!!! I took a 5 week Raw Eating Cooking course as well, that really helped :)!!

All in all....it's a Faboulous way of Living and I was trimming sizes and feeling better and better about myself inside and out by the minute. The NEGATIVE is that eating all RAW unprocessed Organic variety nut based foods is EXPENSIVE!

...You are eating plants and nuts and you'd think it'd be cheap...but NOPE! It's not! :(

...That is what ultimately led me off Raw lifestyle...and the fact that I needed a break. I am invigorated by it, and the creativity it ignites in food preparation! :D!

hahah...I can imagine that it was. The funny thing about realizing what you are eating..is that it has such a "profound" effect on what we perceive and think is happening to our body..that it actually does happen.

...We tend to think more positively of the actual benefits of the food and we feel grateful for it, and WHALA ...It happens!! haha!! Gotta Love that Lady's thought! She was right! As long as she continues to believe that it was her "Fountain of Health" then it is! ;)! ..:beating:!!! I've decided that I want to research more daily about the foods that I place in my body and focus on the Positive that is coming from the food so that I am aware, and now I can benefit too because of my awareness to it! :D!

...Sounds cooky, but it works!! hahahaha! :smilielol5:!

I did make it to the Gym last night!!! :cheers2:!!! Woohoo Day 1 Down!!! :D!

I realized that to make it to the pool ontime, I have to do my Laps in the pool first, or else they close it by the time I get down there after working out. Which sucks, cause I was all geared and ready! I was good too at night and only had a miso soup, but since the schedule is CRAZY, I didn't get home til 12:20 am and me and my bf read a little til my eyes would barely open, I made vegetable soup for today,...and I went to bed at 2:30 am. I woke up at 8:10 am, and I was tired!..I'm okay right now though! And so it is!

Last night's workout:

30 mins. Interval Running -Incline and Flat on Treadmill
25 mins. Elliptical Machine
10 mins. Deep Yogi Breaths in Hot Sauna (Meditate)
----- 65 mins. Total----

Also, I am 3lbs less a BETTER VERSION of MYSELF this WEEK too!!!!!! I am so PROUD of Every Little Ounce!! ;)! (167-3= 164lbs) Woop Woop!!! Can't wait to get out of the 6's and back into the 5's!! I can taste it!! ;)!

...Today would have been the actual 7 days at night to weigh in, but since I started again yesterday, I figured Monday's are as good a day as any to weigh in & what a Wonderful Surprise to find a Healthier Me on the Scale! :Angel_anim: That just motivated me more to continue taking healthier steps towards a Better Version of MYSELF Daily!!! :D!! We can Do it!!!

SO I did it again, YESTERDAY....I RAN 9 MILES...I don't know HOW...HONESTLY with the GOOD GRACIOUSNESS of GOD and the FACT that he HAS brought ME TO you ALL to motivate ME! I ran it in a little faster time than I had done of FRIDAY...

FRIDAY : 2 hrs 23 min
SATURDAY: 40 min UPHILL HIKE on LAUREL CYN HILLS (for MY MEMORY)
SUNDAY: 2 hrs 05 min.
TODAY: I PLAN to RUN 5 MILES

Today, I also took B4 STATS of my MEASUREMENTS :( they are soooo NOT WHERE I WANT TO be, and INSTEAD of GETTING DEPRESSED ABOUT IT LIKE B4, I VOW to MYSELF TO BE "CONSISTENT" which is SOMETHING that has been sooo HARD for me to do in the PAST.....even when I was about 20lbs from REACHING my GOAL b4, I stopped, I am not SURE WHY still? :banghead: WEIGHT is something that I've battled my WHOLE life, and who knows sometimes I THINK that maybe "UNCONSCIOUSLY" I felt that I WAS not "WORTHY" enough to be "FIT" and "SKINNY" like the REST! BUT NOW, after SEEING and READING such wonderful ACCOMPLISHMENTS and BARRIERS broken...I REALIZE that this is what it is for me as well....A BARRIER...and "I DO DESERVE" to be HAPPY and FIT & LOVE MYSELF just like EVERYBODY else! Now looking BACK, I think ONE of the MAIN things in my LIFE and ONE of the LARGEST causes for my FAILURE is that I HAD NO SUPPORT SYSTEM, or PEOPLE I COULD VENT TO WHO UNDERSTOOD ME! :grouphug: This time around I WILL MAKE IT TO MY GOAL and with the HELP of all of YOU I WILL STAY MOTIVATED and FOCUSED! :newbie:

YESTERDAY food:

VANILLA SOY PROTEIN SHAKE (w/ OATMEAL & FIBER) w/ FAT FREE MILK : breakfast
VANILLA SOY PROTEIN SHAKE (w/ OATMEAL & FIBER) w/ FAT FREE MILK : lunch
Grapefruit SNACK
3 1/2 BROILED CHICKEN TENDER STRIPS with 2 cups Boiled MIXED VEGGIES: dinner
SNACK: Small Pinkberry FROZEN YOGURT w/ STRAWBERRY and KIWI
(oops....HAD one 125cal. Guiness BEER...says the CAL on the BOTTLE) my WEAKNESS!

NOW as of MARCH 17, 2008: MEASUREMENTS are as FOLLOWS: (current weight 172)

WAIST: 38" one inch around BELOW belly button
WAIST: 35" 3/4 inches around @ the belly button

LEFT ARM: 14" in (ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH BIG ARMS :( .....)
RIGHT ARM: 14" in

LEFT LEG: 25 1/2" (MY LEGS ALWAYS STAY THICK, HOPEFULLY RUNNING WILL FIX IT)
RIGHT LEG: 25 1/2" in.

So this is where I stand.....I am going to try to cut back eating at night, but because of my work, the earliest I could probably have dinner would be 8:00pm....and I usually go to bed around 12:00pm....Hopefully that is enough hours to digest and process, cause if I drink shakes and eat Chicken Strips for snacks w/ veggies...I don't want my Body to go into STARVATION mode by, RUNNING too much and NOT eating enough!...PLEASE help me if YOU think I need to TWEAK things more.....)

Also, I am trying to do 2 times a week one hour Pilates, and at least 2-3 times a week moderate weight training....:) Thanks to ALL of YOU for YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT! WE can DO IT TOGETHER!

Just wondering if anyone on this site has heard of

Hey Alta, :waving:how are you doing today? Just stopping by to say good choices on the eating yesterday - you are super woman! Honestly you really inspire me with all your posts and they are always very informative! Keep it up girl!!

Awww...I wish I was Super Woman!! hahah...That's sweet!! I'm glad that the posts do something for someone other than trying to inspire myself! :D!

....Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't! LOL..That's the way the ball bounces. I am constantly inspired by you as well!!! I love your motivation and your dedication! Superb I tell you!!! :D!

It's funny how defense mechanisms work either "for or against" some of us. After seeing one of my previous posts up there....I see how "AGAINST" me this weight defense mechanism is working. I yo yo on and on and on forever it seems....:banghead:
I am working on that,...but still....once and for all....I am ready for change to finally become me!!! FOR GOOD!!! FOREVER!!!

...I'm not sure if that's kinda why I feel bummed today, or just one of those passing moments that I kind of feel lonely....not sure. All in all ....I'm happy just mellow today.

...I've been thinking lately of "How can I serve others?" ...still contemplating....I think I have come up with an idea that I can give everyone I meet something. Whether we talk or not. Going to make it happen and get the "Laws of Receiving and Giving going in my life constantly!"Soon...I want to challenge myself to give 29 gifts in 29 days to Random people to change my life and perspective and to give me the awareness of giving back into me! :D!! It's gonna be great! Based it off this book...

I've read 2 books this week so far and I'm loving it, more consistency and FINISHING the things I start!!! :D!! AMEN to that!!! :cheers2:

Last night I was Super Inspired by the show the Biggest Loser!!! I can't beleive the things they do and how fast they do them!! Super Amazing!! I'm gonna whip out her videos at least 3-4 times a week now, if not everyday like I wish! 3-4 is reasonable though:D! Also, I was kinda bummed yesterday that I got home, my bf had throw away these dead flower INCLUDING MY VASE & MY 5 year Anniversary note that he had wrote me. It did bum me out,...thinking like "Does he not care?! Why does he throw my things out without asking me first?! I don't poop out money and he just throws the vase away like nothing." :(....He did try to go find it later but it was gone, along with my note.

....I felt sad as well, because we've both been studying a lot lately on our own, and that makes us happy but as well, less time to talk. Growing Pains I guess. It's hard to get back into the swing of it all.

....I felt much better right after I got home, by putting on my running shoes (even though it was pitch black outside) and went for a HUGE hill run to the Hollywood sign 4.5 miles. I stopped at the top lookout and stretched and gave appreciation, that though, he threw my things out...."I am not defined by things. Though I think they bring me happiness, the real happiness is from the giving to myself from within. My happiness is within and no one can touch that. A vase will not break or make me. I am happy. I as well have no reminder of my 5 years with him (anniversary day I mean), but I do have him. That's what counts."

....These thoughts helped, and I felt better and Liberated on my run! :D!!!
....I came home and did 30 mins of Yoga to center my thoughts and went onto study afterwards. And went to bed kinda early at 12:00 am. Went to cuddle the bf, and felt a little resistance, so I backed off, and turned over...and he cuddled me instead. I guess he felt kinda bad or something when I told him..."It's okay, we don't have to cuddle, and I turned over." (we usually cuddle,...I was kinda bummed again) Then ...after he cuddled me, and held me as I just laid there still cuddled the opposite way for a little bit, I felt a little sadness, lack of contact I presume, and touch, lack of his desire...buttttt....he then shortly after proceeded to CUDDLE ME (if you know what I mean)!! hahahah :reddevil:!!! YES, THAT HELPED!!! hahahah!!! Felt much better and loved after that.

.....Sometimes, you just have to back off in life,...and let people be. We all run in cycles, it's just about differenciating who is going through what cycle and when and how it falls into line or out of line with yours. No biggie, but it is if you don't comprehend it. :grouphug: (especially if you eat when you feel you need love)
