Couch POTATO to "MARATHON" HONEY! :)

the skinny bitch book...

hi alta!! you're quite the cheerleader with your cheery posts!!

as for that book...the following is from my amazon a/c...i did a review of this book that i don't think the authors would be very pleased with!! LOL i never bought it but read through my friends copy...

we can all have attitude & swear & i can do sassy with my eyes closed & a bag over my head. so if thats why you're thinking of buying this book - for the hype - don't bother! after the whole do you want to stay a fat b*tch or be a skinny b*tch like us chapter(shocking...) this book boils down to nothing more than a diatribe on meat/dairy eating & is pro-vegan.

i'm vegetarian (but a naughty one who eats fish...well there are lots of them out there aren't there? plus my thing is i won't eat any of our furry or feathered friends. fish don't count. its my rule & i'll stick to it if i want to & no skinny b*tch wil tell me otherwise!! i have no problem with meat eaters & i cook meat for my two sons...each to their own...) & i'm sure i enjoy a far healthier diet than they do with their faux tuna & stand against diary. like i say blah blah bloody blah... how they must be the life & soul of the party/restaurant...not.

funny how they even admit they are just full of it though in interviews. they admitted neither knew how to cook as they lived off fruit/nuts & frozen vegan food...yum. so for their new 'cook book' they had to hire a chef!

another reviewer had this to say (about my attitude to vegetarianism...)

No such thing as a 'naughty' vegetarian I'm afraid, if you are vegetarian you don't eat meat and *shock horror* fish is meat!!!!!!!! It's not vegetable, it's not grain or legume, its animal!!!!! Please do not call yourself a vegetarian when you are clearly not. The correct term is pescitarian. Whilst we are on the subject someone who eats no meat or dairy is not a vegan, they are a PURE vegetarian. You are only a vegan if you use and consume no animal products whatsoever including wearing leather/wool/silk etc, it's not just a diet its a lifestyle.

i couldn't leave it!! so i replied back...

blah blah blah i think you missed my 'its my rule/each to their own' etc my post was getting at how unhealthy & narrow their so called 'new' way of eating is. i'll call myself a vegatarian if i want to (have been for 20 yrs+ missy) as i don't eat red meat or fowl. btw when i stayed in new york they distinguished between those who don't eat red meat/fowl/vegetarian /vegan...which makes me in their view a veggie too!!

ps i adore my mulberry bag made from lambskin...but to my way of thinking it gives the little love a new life after being slain for the enjoyment of the 'evil meat eaters'. LOL i also have several jimmy choo bags made from calf skin. they are very soft. do you want to feel?

alta...if you want to try no meat eating...quorn is great!!! makes very tasty stirfrys/spag bol & lasagne...really list is endless. here in UK we can get in mince or 'chicken' pieces from...aswell as sausages & 'chicken' grills/cutlets etc. all quorn products are made with mycoprotein, a versatile, totally vegetarian protein.

sorry for the huge post!!!! but theres a little more...!!

you are all so busy going from one diary to another with words of support re the challenge ...just to let y'know you don't have to include me...as i wimped out on day one...i left a message on cinderellys diary for my shame!! :blush5:

WOW!!! Thank you soooo much!! i loved your post :beating:...I always like looking at BOTH sides of the story :D, as I figured out real quick that these chicks were very very VEGETARIAN and their views definitely reflected that!!!

....I actually got the cookbook...Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen...LOL...and it's funny that you say they didn't make any of the recipes...because they look STUPENDOUS :drool5:....thank GOD it was a CHEF!!! :biggrinjester:

...and OMG...I just learned something NEW....thankkkkkk you!!!!

I had no idea what Quorn products were.....this is what you were talking about right.....?!?!/

...I'm so excited...I wonder where I can find this stuff.....maybe Whole Foods, it's a real healthy chain store down here!!!

...Right now I am on a shake cleanse right now...for thirty days, I wanted to do this because I wanted to detoxify my body of toxins as well, as of CHICKEN, MEAT, DAIRY, and FISH, ALCOHOL, CHEESE :banghead:etc.....and since the worst cravings come in the 30 days, I figured I would start this NEW eating style once it was done!!! :toetap05:

I'm EXCITED!!! I was really getting sick of food overall, same ol same ol, and NOW....:bigear: I have all these NEW recipes to try and WHOOHOO!!!

.....from reading that chunk though....I really needed clarification on the difference with a VEGAN and a VEGETARIAN and that did just that for me!!! THANKS!!!! ...ALSO, ...LOL.....I am not going to be VEGAN...as I love animal products on the shelves to look at ....(meaning I might buy one if just right :blush5:)...and as far as VEGETARIAN.......

.....in 20 days,....here goes NUTHIN.....:gnorsi:

and WHY DID YOU DROP OUT OF THE CHALLENGE!!!?!?!?!.....:(

...well right now...I'm detoxifying with water, soy protein, and a couple chunks of fruit...for 30 DAYS!!!....today is day 10!!!!... and NO CHEATS!...and basically after that, you eat whole grains, fresh organic fruit, beans, organic lettuce, Soy Cheese, Quorn :D (just learned that...LOL)....Fresh Made Soups, Vegetarian Lasagna, Humus, Indian Dishes, etc.....

....I like that a lot of Indian dishes are vegetarian, cause I LOVEEEEE INDIAN FOOD :beating:

....hope it works out well for me, and I don't seriously crave all the things I'm trying to give up....:blush5:...I'm sure it's gonna be a struggle, at first, as I have been a MEAT eater for 26 years now!!!..;) :D!

i am such a foodie...when i first read 'shake cleanse' i thought it said 'shake cheese'...& i thought hmmmm whats that??! i love love cheese!! in fact finding it harder to eat less of that than even chocolate??!

oooooh i can still remember how utterly scrumptious the veggie food was in goa...& i went over 10 yrs ago!! indian food one of my faves...

:smilielol5:....hahaha....I have this VEGETARIAN book of recipes too, and I do the SAME THING all the time too! I "misread" the title, and be like "WOOOOOW, HMMMMMM, I CAN HAVE THAT :D??!!! ...and then I READ HARDER :( and I realize that NO ...I read wrong, and I can't have that.....LOL!!!!

....I loveeeee cheese too....my bf, is on day 4 of his no meats, or dairy, and we had a HUGE CHEESE TALK last night....hahah.....it was so funny, cause he is such a cheese FAN, that he was saying, "It's just so sad, you know, you look at your plate, and there is no cheese :cry:and it looks so plain and tasteless, and not only do I want cheese, but I want a CHUNK NEXT TO EVERYTHING".....hahah...

....so WE FEEL YA WHEN IT COMES TO CHEESE TOO!!!....I am the occasional BBQ type girl., LOVE SUSHI type girl,...OMG, I love chicken wings.....:drool5:....and can YOU TELL, I'm having "cravings", I will really have to find alternatives for it all....(I know the difference between hunger and cravings now, cause when I think of a huge salad right now,I think,"Na... I'll PASS" :D)

..what kind of eating do you do now?...:blush5:...and what's your name baglady!?!?....heheh....

...mine really is ALTA!!! ;)!!!

Hey Alta,

Thanks soooo much for stopping by my journal to wish me luck and such a hilarious comment it was too. You cracked me up big time, haha.:biggrinjester:

I have stumbled across a few of your comments occasionally when I meander around here (which I don't do often enough cos of lack of time grrrrr) and they always crack me up, I swear.:D

Aww I'm glad you joined the challenge too, cos I know we're gonna kick our butts into shape so much, they won't know what's hit them!!!! Poor things.

Oh yeah.... your queries about being 115/120 lbs, now the cool thing is that if you are SHORT like myself (I notice you, like me, are 5 foot 2 haha), you can carry it off without looking like an ironing board. Trust me, when I was 55 kgs I was still curvy.

Errrm mind you I always have been well endowed "upstairs" (hahaa), so mine didn't turn into just nipples (lol)... basically even when I lose weight, they just won't go away. That could well be the case for you too!! You will know when you get there!!!
So it's kind of cool. I lose the (gross) back fat instead of the breast fat. Super eh!!

But yeah, you do not end up anorexic looking cos for someone our height, 115/120 lbs is actually a perfect weight ...... so no probs there at all.

Thanks for trawling through my mindnumbingly depressing list of 'why life stinks when you're fat', and yes you are so right about the booty call business being a pity *Sigh*- a rotten one at that, but you know, you sure read my intentions right. i.e. when I get myself into shape again, men had better watch out ......

Take care of yourself, and best of luck, I am sure you'll do great infact we shall all do fantastically well.:jump:

My head is spinning from diary-hopping......... but it's soooo fab to get to know new people, cos I swear I just normally never have time to visit other journals, I'm sometimes too busy even for my own. It's all just totally mental!!

Have a super evening Alta babes :hug2:
SOPHIE!!!! :beating: You are so cute!!! HAHAH....you crack me up!!! I like your personality!!!Your posts are really entertaining too!!;)!!!

....YA, I hear ya about being too thin...no MORE FEAR!!! I guess I fear more than what I 'll look like, WHAT WILL I DO WITH ALL THAT ATTENTION!? I think that might scare me more !!! HAHAH!!!

WOOHOO!!! I love your avatar!! I hope to look like that at 120!!!...!!! You look soooo pretty!!! And you sound SO SURE THAT YOU ARE MAKING IT to where you were that I want to stick with you kid!! ;)!!! hahah!!!......DON'T FORGET MEEEEE ....WAIIIIT!!!....hahah!!!

....

Hey lady! Just stopping in to see what's up and say hello! Good luck in you're detox, you have got some mad will power girl! I was thinking about doing a 10 day one to jump start some but i'm still thinking on it. Good luck in the challenge! I hope to see ya around more! Have a great night, much love!

You. Are. Insane.

No cheese? MY GOD WOMAN WHY!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! That is some serious will power, and more power to you. I tried to give up the cheese. I've cut back a lot, but sometimes I just really want a big, hunk of Gouda. Oh sweeeeeet Gouda. I've only ever done a detox like that and it was a couple months ago. It was super intense 30 days Master Cleanse (don't recommend) needless to say all of the weight I lost on it ending up being added as soon as I ate real food. Your detox sounds WAY better and WAY healthier.

I have a strong STRONG love of sushi and Indian food. However, I moved to a neighborhood with NO good Indian food deliveries and I have to cross the city to get to my favorite place (yes, I realize I could cook it but what fun is that?!?!) and so I have been on a strictly sushi love diet. OMG I love sushi...maybe I'll get that for dinner......

Stay strong girl!!!

WOW.. I couldn't give up meat (I could probably live with out red meat but have to have my chicken!! lol) or diary products I LOVE MILK AND CHEESE more than anything else I put in my mouth.. YOU GO GIRL!! AND GOOD LUCK with the cleanse I know you'll do great!!!

Woohooo!!! Thanks Guys!!I appreciate the support, as I know this is SOOOO OUT OF MY ballpark...(right now ;) )! I think in addition to doing more research during my cleanse time....I just might not only be Vegetarian, but I might try out ....RAW EATING.........no heating my foods, to kill the GOOD YUMMY Enzymes.....woohoo!!!!

...i found this workshop as well....that might be worth it....

...it does sound crazy, I know....but honestly, I think I can cleanse for 40 days, and the rest I can eat raw to complete the 3 months and then EASE into a vegetarian lifestyle that allows for SOY PRODUCTS including soy milk, and soy cheese, ...but I think I really really really need to DETOX A LONG 3 months to even put a dent on all the toxins I've been consuming, especially through Atkins! :ack2:

I definitely have plenty of books on Raw Foodism if you want to give them a try.

My darling Alta, I'm starting to notice a trend in you; you like to explore fads. Now, that is definitely cool and important to be open to new things. But when it comes to weight management, maybe the old fashion methods are best? But what the fuck do I know! I just ate myself back from my low in the course of a week :ack2:

I love you, my darling sweetheart :beating:

Hey Alta :)) aww thanks for the compliments & about the avatar pic..... {{BIIIIG HUGS }} hmmmm I always thought I looked slightly constipated in that photo but I don't have that many pics to be honest that are even halfway presentable to the public. I am the most unphotogenic of people in the world. I weighed 55 kilos then... that's 121.2 lbs *Sigh*
You're a right hottie yourself in your profile pic young lady -- I just had a peek.

Yeahhh you deffo need to stick with me, as you say I am taking this all the way, you bet. And you're right nothing's going to stop me not even 10 herds of elephants :)

Hey well done with your fast ..... Day 10 already, ehiiiii... not bad!! -- I'm v. impressed and all that .... I could never do that myself, I'd be passing out every day.
...Not to put a dampener on it or anything, but will you still be able to do some good exercise at the same time? you wouldn't want to become a skinny minny if you're all saggy instead of toned up with a cute firm butt, know what I mean?

Well you keep going there, you're doing fab and, you know you're going straight to the 120's and you know you can do it! Oh yeahh! :):)

RAW eating?! Raw salmon and more Asian foods come to mind mmmmmm yummy!
"to kill the GOOD YUMMY Enzymes.....woohoo!!!" <- LOL :rotflmao:

Gosh my idea of a cleanse is to like have a nice relaxing bath, drink some green tea, and sleep! HAHA

Goodluck with that crazy workshop thingy, hope challenge is going good for you!
