Confessions of a food Junkie

Great idea creating a meal plan Miss K! I know I do MUCH better when I have a plan in place for meals!

And good for you for cutting back on the soda!

Well food is good. I went grocery shopping today. (cost 250 bucks and I still need a few more things...I used to only spend 150...I thought healthy eating cost less???)

costs more actually. horrible isn't it? :( it's cause companies KNOW people want to lose weight now. so they make us PAY MORE for healthier choices like diets, fat-free stuff, low-cal, low-carb etc. the only time healthier eating costs less is when u buy veggies in season. but turkey and chicken breast is all pretty expensive stuff as opposed to mac&cheese. :(

ain't it the truth. I had to switch to just fresh veggies and fruit and well for the most part real food. I was eating the diet dinners and such and just got crazy. It wasn't much cheaper than if i was on nutrisystem or something. Just shave every penny you can.

OK well I had a great weekend~

Saterday I cooked "cola Chicken" (weightwatchers variety) for supper and it was actually good LOL and then yesterday I cooked a low fat recipe for sweet and sour chicken. It was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can cook LOL. I hated cooking before, but now it's cool!

I've been staying on track with my calories, never over 1500 a day.

Oh and last night, we went to a movie with hubby's brother :)BARF:) and his g/f (Fast and the Furious: Tokeyo(SP??) drift) and they all had popcorn and candy but I only had a diet pepsi and two small palmfulls of popcorn. I know it was less than 2 cups and you all know that popcorn is like my Krypotonite (sp??).

Anyways, I'm really hoping that I can hit some diaries hard today so that I can catch up. I've had busy last few days but I'm getting back to posting soon.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! Great job at the movies!! I've made cola roast before but never cola chicken. I'll have to try it!

I originally found that eating healty costs more - but now not so much, watch out for the serving sizes and the "advertised Fat Free" gimmicks - once you actively start looking for ways to eat healthy and save $ you will see that it can be done. One particular thing that helped save money in our house hold was chicken breast - seems so much easier to buy boneless skinless but the cost savings is worth taking off the bones and skin @ home! Fresh fruit markets cost a little bit more but it is worth not having your veggies and fruits going bad and being tossed after a couple days in the fridge. Love popcorn too! I think we should take our own to the movies and that way we can portion size and not have all that excess butter! NAT

is that $250 for just you?
I usually spend about $150 per week to feed my family of 6. I usually eat low fat sugar free yogurt, bread and salad sammies (though i try to stay away from processed foods, bread, rice) , steak, chicken, and generally anything that looks like it came from the ground,
I think frozen veges and stir fries (non stick pan, no oil) with steak or chicken are my staple diet at the moment.

Sadly eating heathy is more expensive. I have been to a lot of native reserves that are strictly fly in and diabetes and other diseases caused by unhealthy eating is plaguing the communities.

2 Liters of milk can cost $10 while pop and other junk food remains affordable. It's sad, but with facts like that they don't stand a chance.

This must be a testament to how badly I shopped/ate out pre-diet. My savings on food cost has been substancial !!

anyhoot, after glancing over your diary Kallie, you get a MAJOR "attagirl" for kickin' the cola to the curb. That's such a huge deal !! WTG !!

Keep fighting the good fight Kallie ;)

Congrats Miss Kallie on the movie theater restraint, sometimes its impossible to completly avoid those foods that we love, and compromise is the answer, a handfull or two will satisfy the craving without going overboard, good job.

I just want to swear when I read that. I know it's true. I'm Metis myself and I know how reserves in the north are like. The government subsidizes(sp??) liquor but they can't help with the milk. It is fucken ridiclous if you ask me...I just want to walk up to the prime mister and punch his fucken lights out! LOL sorry...just this is close to home for me.

250 dollars is every two weeks for me, my hubby(who I swear has a tape worm he eats so much) and my son. Meat is really expensive here. Sometime in september I want to get a costco culb card so I can buy chicken in bulk and hopefully that will help save some money.

I guess living in NZ here we get dairy and meat products fairly cheap. Vegs can be expensive at the supermarket but its only a 20 minute drive out of town to find the nearest stalls where farmers sell their own for a quarter of the price

Hi Miss Kallie,

Sorry I have not been by for awhile. I had a lot of catching up to do with you. 1st off.....anyone who can eat two servings of cheese cake in one day and still be at 1800 calories ROCKS! You are doing so well.

Foods been going well for. I'm trying to relax a little bit with this ridged schedual and calorie counting. I still do, just not in 5 places like before LOL. Now I just do it on paper.

Today I only walked 1 mile because I needed to use the bathroom badly. I've had almost 3 litres of water so far and I had breaky, snack, lunch and p.m. snack on time and supper is in the slow cooker *YAY*.

I've been lifting 10lb free weights and like doing curls and lunges and squats with them and omg...I am feeling muscles I never knew existed LOL.
