Thanks everyone!! :)

I suppose 7kg's isnt all that bad... im 7kg's down.. Yeh thats good :)

8-2 Much- You are so right!! Thanks sweetheart!

We are all in the same boat, and im so glad to be sharing this journey with the whole lot of you!!!

contract

to lose 10 kgs my contract length was 5 months, but expected duration was 2 months (does that make sense) that's probably what your contract says too.
i started on 10 july so that's about 7 weeks?
Bam, you are doing a FANTASTIC job.
i think its good to compare to get ideas and tips, but we have to remember we are all different, i certainly couldn't lose 7 kgs in 4 weeks!
well done everyone

DK73: I had to lose 14-17kg based on which end of Dr Cohen's weight range I wanted to be at. I was given 4 months + another 2 as a buffer. anyway, I wasn't 110% good, so it's taken me 9 weeks to loose about 10 kgs. I think if I had not deviated at all, I would be doing my re-feed by now. Anyway, I'm doing my 10th week weigh-in today(my own) and if I'm near 56kg, I'm calling in for my re-feed :)

Thanks everyone - I thought there are a lot less strict (and cheaper) programs to lose it in that time! That has given me a bit of incentive to keep going (have tried to start about 3 times!!)

dk73- Just do it, and it will be all over and done with before you know it!!

Just think.. im down 7kg's and today is the first day of my 4th week.. You'll do it in no time at all :)

WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT DEVIATE!!!! It will slow you down maybe by weeks even!

Those dreams

BAM

had a giggle about your pizza dream, I consistently dream that I stuff up my diet, in my dreams I am always succumbing to temptation and feeling really bad. I thought I was the only one!!!

I've been doing Cohen's for five weeks now and some days I just breeze through and some days are a battle all the way eating wise. Why is this? Today all I wanted to do was eat everything I saw or smelt. Staying strong though (Jewls :)

Bocconcini

Less Fatty - Thanks for your reply. I have also wondered about certain aspects of the diet and how they come to justify what we can and can not eat. However, I will stear clear of the Bocconcini as I have been told by a friend that it does have a slighty higher fat content due to it's immaturity compared to Mozarella???

PS- I see Less Fatty is male - you blokes suck! No fair me want fast metabolism too! Well done to you all the same - from bitter old 8-2Much!!!

I just checked
(Bocconcini) ave 22.4 gm fat per 100gms, whereas whole milk is 25gms fat per 100gms.

The lists whole milk mozzerella as 22.35gms/100gms.

P.S. I dont think my metabolism is "faster" I am just bigger so I will lose KG faster than someone smaller, just as a big car uses more petrol than a small car. For example lets say a small ladies ideal weight is 55KG and mine is 85KG, I just need to burn more food to run a 85KG lean body. My problem of course is that over the years I ate too much particularly breads, rices and pasta types of foods and ended up 123KG. And of yesterday I was 112KG (great!).

It is very strange, today I am just fine, yesterday I could have killed for a big plate of pasta, it is very very hard at times to sit around and eat nothing whilst your family eats a fantastic meal, particularly at a resturant. Being a man, I understand that I am solution focused...but I have not got a solution for it...looking at pretty girls helps a little, but dont let your wife see you doing it.

All I can say and my advice is that it really is very very tough the first 4 days, the first day was OK just very hungry, but the second, third where terrible, dull headaches, zero concentration, almost shaking just feeling generally terrible (I couldnt go to work), 4th wasnt much better, but by the 5th day I was over the worst. If it sounds like breaking an addiction then I think it was, an addiction to carbohydrates.

blood pressure

Is there anyone on this program taking high blood pressure medicine? Is there anyone whose blood pressure become better?

Hi,
I haven't measured mine since starting the program... but it is definitely better. I could feel the blood pulsing in my neck and head almost constantly for the last few weeks before I started and was going to have to start medication if it didn't improve. I was getting so anxious about having a heart attack or stroke that I couldnt get to sleep!
Last week, I was walking lots, climbing lots of stairs etc, and no problems at all. I feel soooo much more healthy.
I think its inevitable that your blood pressure will lower. My consultant did say one of her clients had to go off his medication cause his blood pressure was getting so low on the medication!

Soy sauce?

Does anyone have soy sauce on the program? Its so good with fish (sashimi) and steak, I just cannot live without it.

I guess it is a no-no, but I dont really care a 1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce every so often is not going to break the program.

Yalloo

Hi guys and gals... just a quick message.

Blondbomd - I agree I think anyone doing this program has made an enormous effort... it's all relative anyway... an extra 10kgs on you might be like an extra 20kgs on me. so really, at the end of the day, its not what we weigh but how we feel.

BAM Oh my goodness girlfriend! 7kgs is great! remember 7-10kg loss in the first month is what is expected so you have achieved my friend! I think you need to stop stressing so much!

Less Fatty - you inspired me and I too looked up the fat content in the two cheeses and was surprised to see Bocconcini was lower. However, I found that it had a lower protein per 100g component. Do you think that's why it isn't kosher Cohen's? It's pretty miniscule and I am going to finish the container that's in the fridge and not lose too much sleep over it!

By the way, you know I was only having a go re: men losing weight faster? I hope I didn't offend.I understand the bigger the body the bigger the burn. Good for you. I'll see how I go at my first weigh-in in a couple of weeks. Very nervous.

Hope everyone has survived another night of Cohen's Dinner!

Beach babe in 20kg

hi everyone
I've been lurking here for a few weeks now...I've been waiting for my food plan...it arrived today YAY! I've just finished eating some unmentionable stuff ...had to get rid of it before I become "clean" tomorrow.

Went shopping tonight for the goodies. My treats are going to be prawns and mangoes Yum! I'll allow for these every few days...should keep me going!

You all seem to be going really well! I'd love to see some of your before, during and afters.

I think the 2.5 week wait for my food plan has helped me look forward to starting my diet...although I must have put on a couple of kilos in that time...feast before famine!!

I'm really hoping for a 7kg loss in the first month as that will get rid of the squelchy feeling that I have right now...my size 16 clothes are way too "snug".

If only I had a school reunion to go to...that would motivate me...I was always "bigger" than the other girls and didn't they let me know it...Biaches. I told my husband that if we started planning a tropical holiday...Qld?? ...then I'd be more motivated ...he didn't exactly say no...I'll work on him a bit more!

cohen

Hello, I have been on the Cohen diet for 1 month and it has worked really well, I lost 9 kilos in the 1st 3 weeks (I have 20 kilos to lose) but sadly I haven't lost any weight for the last 2 weeks! Has anyone else had the same and did you get through it? I haven't deviated at all, apart from a few sugar free sweets when I was on holiday - also I haven't always drunk the full amount of water every day. I'm not finding it too hard to stick to but must admit I'm feeling a bit demoralised.. has anyone else plateaued in this way and how long did it last? Many thanks

Hi lessfatty - I don't think soy sauce is allowed as it contains proteins. My consultant says mixing proteins may slow down weight loss. Also the high salt content will cause water retention. I know how you feel...everything would be so much easier if I could use it! ;)

Bam, I’m so glad to hear that you are doing OK. I hope you enjoyed your pizza? I can understand the whole dream thing, I actually had a dream that I had a huge Indian meal with lots of creamy curries and rice, it all tasted so damn good (in my dream), I really thought I was having it for real. When I opened my eyes this morning I needed to really think what I did last night to remember if it was real or not!!!

Don’t be disheartened about your 7kg, it’s a fantastic achievement that you should be proud of. I’m proud of you! Remember that 7kg got you out of the 90’s and into the 80’s which is not far from the 70’s. Keep going sweety.

8-2much – I suppose that bocconcini is a bit like the tomato debate. You can eat all types of tomatos except cherry tomatos. Can anyone explain that one?
I wish I could stay of the scales like you are able to, but so far they keep showing me what I want to see so I am addicted to weighing every few days. I need them to stay on track.

Hi lessfatty, it’s good to have a male around to talk to all of us women. Thanks for joining us and for all your honesty.

Welcome Cherub and good luck for your first week. Don’t worry about the Biaches, they probably ended up having really ugly kids that will suffer weight problems all their lives (sorry I’m not really that nasty, but sometimes it helps)
I’m sure when your husband sees you in a bikini he’ll want to show the whole world how wonderful you look.

Chunkychops are you still losing cm’s even through your not losing on the scales? You did lose a lot in the first 3 weeks!

I spoke to my mum tonight and she asked how I was going. She nearly fell over when I told her I was doing well and had lost 35cm! I think she was more shocked that I am sticking to a diet - finally.

Good night all, I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.:D

i deviated a bit on sat nite.. was outside and succumbed to the calling of korean kimchi soup.. but think it wasn't so bad.. it's like lotsa cabbage and some tofu and meat.. although i did cheat on the anti-mix protein part.. i ate both the meat and tofu... but my weight loss was not affected~ :D so happy ... hehe

If Cohen diet is as I suspect based on a protein sparing modified fast, the the protein content is important, particularly the ratio of proteins to non-proteins. I think your individual plan, the lean meat components have been tailored to meet your bodies protein needs. Now the different between the cheeses is just a few grams of protein...and I am sure such a difference would be found in various types of mozzarella, and over the course of a week I doubt a couple of meals of non compliant mozzarella would impact anything. So I would be eating up the remaining cheese...but thats just me, give me a "rule" and I will ask "why" and if the answer doesnt have any logic behind it I will ignore it.

As for Kosher Cohens, what I suspect is simply this, Cohen's business is simply not a giant corporation, it just doesnt have the resources to test every type of food on the market all round the world. The program is based on a limit choice of foods that Dr Cohen has found if you stick with it 100% will yeild the result you want. Does that mean that other foods if consumed will result in less that 100% loss or failure? No I think it is possible that other foods could be consumed...but which ones? Would be possible to use completely different foods and get the same weight loss results, , eg emu, goat meat, lean pork, various chinese vegis, of course it is possible. But again which ones?

Anyway my point is that the Cohen consultants will say "NO" to everything that is not on the list, not because Cohen has tested it and found it to be bad, but simply because it not part of the specific set of foods on the program.
