At last!

At last things are getting going- minor but moving!! I washed back a couple sennekot last night and 2 this morn and psyllium husks. Had a l.5ltr before bed so i am cert having enuf water to flush thru. No water today as sick with start of cold- i know i need to but cant stomach food either! Had to put off weigh in til tomorrow- rang them and they said to do it tomorrow. I also want to rid my gut of the last 5days contents that isnt moving fast enuf. Oh well, it will .... eventually!

To Fortnight: its not meant to be put in anything other water (u can use orange juice but not recommended) as the psyllium gets broken down and not at its full potential. But if it works for u, excellent. I dont mind it in water but its much easier to down in warm water! It disolves a lil more and less gluggy!

Nothing to eat so far but will get to it soon. I have to get smthing into me bfore the end of the day! I just cant seem to fathom how i will hold it down! Ughh, i loathe the person who gave me this cold!

Hope others are doing better and winning the battle of winter and ur diet. I will get there just a few days to get bak to my normal healthy self.

Update ticker tomoz

Ticker update...

YAY finally hit the 20kg down mark... i am sooo excited. i am now at the weight that i left yr 12 at... i can't believe it... i still have a long ways to go but i am actually starting to see it moving... like i am 1/3 of the way there...

To everyone... this is not a diet but a whole lifestyle change... it is not hard you just need the determination to say " I will do it"!!!

To everyone else who is seeing results... i can't wait till i hit the 100's... it just so seems possible now... like i so want this but only wish was that my pop was still alive to see his always chubby grand-daughter getting slimmer and being so true to herself...

Good luck everyone and keep your heads held hight...

Tam

To Mince or not to Mince?

I just wanted to put my thoughts on mince out there...
I have mince on average twice a week. One meal of beef mince and one meal of chicken mince. I spoke to my butcher about mincing up lean steak and chicken breast for me, but they won't do it unless you are buying heaps as they need to put a decent ammount through the mincer for it to come out the other end. I buy premium grade heat smart mince from the meat section of my IGA store. I also buy the chicken mince from here too. I know that the minced chicken is breast meat, but I also know that when I buy whole chicken breast, I always have to cut off heaps of fatty deposits on it. I'm almost positive that that when the label says 'minced chicken breast', that they wouldn't bother removing all of the fat before they mince it. So, there you go...My advice is if you are going to have mince, try not to hve it too often and make sure it is 'heart smart'. Hope that helps!

good morning everyone,

well 9 days on the program and i am doing well

tasm82 i bet your pop is looking down on you and smiling 20 kg so far that is fantastic

Congrats

Tasm82 you have done so well, what a triumph to hit that 20kg mark. You are doing brilliantly, well done. In fact congratulations to everyone, I am seeing some good losses in those tickers and have noticed that some of you who have really struggled seem to be on the straight and narrow now.

I am finally back on track again and moving towards single figures though might not make it within my expected date for refeed as I have stuffed about a fair bit:mad: but I WILL get there eventually . I am not changing my countdown to refeed as that just seems to give me an excuse for more stuffing about. I will still aim for 38 days but know it is likely to be another fortnight to 3 weeks, really.

I greatly admire those of you who never deviate and lose weight so fast. You are doing absolutely the right the thing and it works! I know it but I don't do it! I am doing everything I can to change my ways but its a struggle some days. Yesterday I really wanted chips(samboy type) and it was really hard to resist but I managed and I am so glad I did, as my ticker finally moved downwards instead of upwards! One day at a time and just keep on doing the same thing, I tell myself. Well... here goes AGAIN!

less of me That was so helpful about the mince meat! I thought it was really easy to just get some mince, put it on the grill and eat it as one of my suppers, but I guess I was wrong! I should know for next time.

I am so happy for everyone who has lost weight already, it's such a struggle but when you overcome it it's as if you've won a million dollars! I've just completed my 3rd day, and it's not much at all, but the feeling I have inside - I can do this! I don't have to binge on food!- is irreplacable. So I hope it continues until I'm well on my way and can start fitting into my good clothes again!

Well I'm feeling heaps more positive than I have the last week or so. And I'm actually enjoying cooking. Thats a big thing for me. Sorry I havent time to individually post. Haven't even had time to read everyones posts properly. By the time I do, I'll have about 10 pages to catch up on.

Have not been following closely to my program. Couldnt keep the food down my throat. Its like starving myself. Surviving on biscuits, fruit and sometimes tuna mayo.

Am starting to dislike my yogurt in the morning. Not sure if i can take it tomorrow morning. Need to find something else for breakfast.

finished refeed

Hi - well this is the first day post cohens!!!
The refeed went well although the last week was pretty complicated.
The main trap I found was the temptation to say 'what the hell I've nearly finished anyway" and have those chips etc:eek: ... but I managed to avoid any (major) blow outs.
I figured I'd stuck with this program for nearly four months and have worked on the belief that Cohen knew what he was on about (clearly he does as it works so darn well!!) I'm not going to mess up and start to undermine it as the finish line approached!!
My weight did fluctuate, especially in the last week when the extra carbs and larger sizes came. Last night, my last day on it, I had 2 glasses of wine ("traded"2 pieces of bread for it - wow what a hardship!!) but this morning I am still 0.8kg under the weight at which I began the refeed.
It's been a revealing journey. I'm down to 58.4kg - all up I've lost 18.6kg and am into a size 10 for most things which is such a joy!!

I'll let you know how the "keeping it off" part goes
I think I'll pretty much stick with the Cohens food as I felt great thru out the process and a bit "blah" when I re introduced bread and milk
Good luck to you all with this

Hi everyone!! Yesterday wss 7 days! No divations- and if i was going to deviate i think i would since boy i was seeing for 8moths came back from 3 week overseas trip and told me he met someone and is starting a internet relationship.... thought i would blow considering all the emotional stuff... but it has kinda just made me even more determined.. and guess what... 8 kilos in 1 week exactly!!! Did anyone else lose this fast?? Maybes it cause i have so much to lose??
anyways.. hope everyone elses week is going good!

did you try putting sweetner in your yogurt? the brand "browns" yogurt seems to be better in taste compared to the rest. but it costs like 30 or 40 cents more expensive. Maybe you can try that.

I also try to put in "very very" ripe fruits into my yoghurt and that will sweeten it up a bit.

Am using Marigold. Tried "Brownes" but difficult to get, only at selected NTUC.
I blend coffee/sweetener with my yogurt. Am sick of mango & apple. As for papaya, too thick to drink, prefer to eat as a fruit.

Am getting sick of so many things, how am i going to continue (at least another 6 to 8 mths) & stay on this program. I dont even wanna see any food infront of mi or even mention it. YUCK :(

Sometimes am so tempted to buy the cooked eggs at the sushi bar located in the supermarket. But got sugar rite?

hey reload.. maybe u need a revamp of your meals that you're having right now. Instead of yoghurt for breakkie, how bout an egg or something. Just push yourself to vary your foods, it might make a difference. :) I read somewhere on the forum bout baking a cut up apple in the microwave, dabbing yoghurt on top & finishing it off with ground nutmeg powder. Heard its delish! try that reload, maybe that will help :)

Sigh, im having my period now. And from what i read on this forum, weight loss slows down in this duration right? Just when i started, BHAM!, my period arrives. URGH. So much for the initial speedy weight loss. Bah humbug. Sorry for being whiny. Its just disheartening to know that the only certain time when weight loss will be fast is when you first start off, & now this.. Oh well. Don't mind this sourpuss :D

Weight loss ok

Well had official weigh in-wk 3 (one wk left of 1st mth). I am a little disappointed but its better then nothing- I lost 6.16kg. I also dont have 50-60 kg to lose so i think i will lose slower then those with larger amounts to lose. Some is my own fault for not drinking the water i need tho. So hard when i am feeling sick with cold cos i avoid food/drink in these times. I hope to get it all in control tomorrow and just force what i can. Consultant says i am doing pretty well- aim for 6-10kg loss a month so i am just hitting that. One more wk to go and i hope to get a few kgs off in that time. I am already feeling better for it so its something. I am able to get to the floor and back up alot easier- stuffed knee and back make it hard  It looks funny but getting easier. I have also found it easier to stay on the exercise bike (knee rehab) at a more consistent speed. Have others found this?? Can do more without getting tired.

How do other ppl get water in when sick??? I have never been a comfort eater when sad/PMS/sick -- i turn AWAY from it. Not a bad thing overall but it is when u cant afford to miss meals. Just need tips to keep hydrating and nourishing! Im sure it will all work out- as my mum say 'it will all come out in the wash!'

SassySaphire86: But remember: when u finish P's u should lose more cos of that excess fluid u retained during! I retain fluid during this time also so i do understand but give urself a wk and u WILL notice the difference. I had same scenario when i started so i fully appreciate ur concerns! Keep ur head high and proud and know ur at the turning point in ur new life yes, when u get PMS and all that crap, it will seem like its against u but U DO KNOW it will be back to being calm after these couple of days of complete UGH feeling. Women are strong and we can be strong together!

Make sure u all keep heads high and walk proud of ur new and changing bodies. It can benefit us in so many ways- WE WILL WIN IT!

Dede23 you need to drink more water when you are sick! your body needs the water to detox and cleanse out all the virus. well, in my family, my mum always nagged us to drink more water when we are sick. so it was kind of a habit now. even when I rest in bed, I will ensure I bring two filled up water bottles and put them on my bedside. Its a hassle to bring your sick body to the toilet but just try to think that you are helping to wash away all the sickness down the toilet bowl!

sassysapphire86 dun give up. I was having my menses during my 2nd/3rd week of cohen too! it was horrible. the stomach keep rumbling out of no reason as if they were really hungry. The support forum was great during that time. Although I retent water and dun go to toilet as often as usual (even though I was drinking same amt of water), I still lost my wt reasonably. I dun gain which was a great thing 'coz I would be very demoralised, even though I knew it was menses wt and not real wt gain

Reload72 I think you are bored with the program and not the food. Maybe you need to have a chat with your consultant if possible. I am sure the consultant will be able to spur up your motivation again! Don't be shy talking to Peter. He told me before that he is there to help us. We paid him to help us!!!! Peter and his wife are both in this program LONG enough to be able to teach u how to make the meals interesting! We are meeting up soon and hopefully I can help to spur u up too!

Hi everyone, long time no post, but I have been checking in and reading up on all the posts. Sounds like there's plenty of newbies, Welcome to you all.

There seems to be a fair bit of deviations going on out there in Cohen Land, myself included, maybe we should all get past the negative thoughts and start thinking positively more often. It is all in our heads and until we get it cleared out we"ll never get to the end of the journey. So for me, tomorrow will be the start (again) and I will be aiming to lose 5Kg by the end of July :) Keep your fingers crossed for me, I need it. Yesterday after golf quite a few people complimented me on how nice I looked so that was a great feeling especially after I complained on here not so long back that no one seemed to notice that I was losing. I have bought a couple of new pieces of clothing so guess that may have been the difference. Also quite a few of my clothes in the FAT wardrobe are now starting to fit again. It's really quite good fun going through the wardrobe and pulling out the thing's that used to be your favourites. Almost like going shopping but not quite.:D

the old me You sound just like me with your deviations. I was talking to my consultant this morning and she said that after we have lossed quite a bit it seems that we become complacent and I guess that sounds about right. So will just have to work harder to start shifting it again. With the school holidays and having my granddaughter to take to the movies and different excursions it never seems like I am having lunch at the right time and that's my biggest letdown. Breakfast and dinner aren't a problem. Also my hubby has started to pick from the cupboard and not eating what he should be makes me want to do the same. I'm ok when at home but if we're in town or somewhere then I can be tempted. Will have to become a hermit and stay home more. You will probably pass me in our friendly race. LOL.

 lizzie Where are you Lizzie? Haven't seen a post from you for awhile, hope you're OK. Don't forget we have a challenge with the old me. Cann't have her beating us now can we:D

Reload72 Try changing your breakfast from yoghurt and that may make it easier. If you only have the one thing all the time then it will get boring very quickly and that's when you'll fall off the wagon. I have an omelette with grill tomato and mushroom and sprinkle a little garlic salt on vege's, it's simply delish. I also cut up tom, mushies and onion finely and pour over my omelette just after I pour the egg into the pan then fold over in half to cook turning once and that makes quite a large breakfast.

magiclea Where have you got to, haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope you are keeping up the good work.

Well must drink some water as I've been told that I'm not having anywhere nearly enough. Yuk, even though we have lovely rain water (yes it is finally raining here in the south west:D ) I just never seem to think to have any. I think that would be my biggest mistake. Oh well will just have to change that as of now.
Wish me luck.

Must go and prepare tea, fish and stirfry veges.
Cheers:)

that race......hmmmm

Well lets just say I am in the race. Haven't exactly been powering along but I am still in the running. I guess thats something Gaygel I still intend to cross that finishing line too. I am a very good loser in competitions and a terrible winner , so look out if I beat you. I 'll be bragging and boasting and crowing for days! LOL You wouldn't want that would you. Come on then girl..... get back into it. I am the last person to preach will power as I know its harder than that but I am preaching repeated effort. Lets recommit together and just get on with it for a change. BTW Good luck, you can do it! So can I!
