Jasmine...gymena and peach flowered tea tree essence. The gymena is good for people with diabetes and sugar cravings and works both as a longer term balancer but also has an immediate effect where if you have some, any sugar you start to eat loses all its taste and hopefully its appeal! Peach flowered tea tree is an Australian Bush Flower Remedy and I often use them, its supposed to help with the pancreas and therefore sugar cravings.

Fruit flavoured teas are not permitted on Cohen's program. They will actually trigger cravings. Also Gymena is not permitted on the program. If you are experiencing cravings, speak to your consultant. Taking things not permitted on the program will only upset the delicate balance required for optimum fat loss without cravings.

...I asked about the artificial sweetner. She confirmed that the Equal was a no-no, but said that I could have either the Hermastes or Sugarine. Pill or powder is fine for either.

Hermasetas powder contains a sugar derivative (unless they've recently changed the formulation) which means you cannot use it whilst on the program. Please check the fine print on the bottle first. Hermasetas tablets are fine. Sugarine tablets or liquid are fine to use also.

i have a question. does anyone have gassy stomach after eating fruit?

no gassy feeling, unless am abt to do something big in the loo. After that, no such feeling.

Is it the type of veggie u eat?? try cooking them with ginger, u could pick them out when eating.

Another thing abt the biscuits, cant remember who mentioned that by decreasing the intake wont help in rapid weight lost... Our consultant confirmed that too.

Cravings

the old me said:
Jasmine, as you would have gathered I really suffer from cravings too, mostly for lollies and occassionally chips and that kind of salty, crunchy, spicey stuff. The sugar cravings usually takes the form of lollies, the sort which are super chewy and sugary like hard jubes or party mixes. Don't get me wrong I am normal and like chocolate too but rarely have a full on craving for it, just eat it anyway!!!

In my previous life, I would binge on a large family sized packet of lollies in a few minutes and if there were 2 packets I 'd eat them and if there were three packets I'd probably eat them too etc etc . It was my only true binge eating but it used to hit me with a vengance , enough that I would go out to buy them at night, just like you. Sometimes I'd even eat lollies as soon as I woke in the morning and the craving seemed to be something I couldn't withstand.

I also had a patch where all I wanted was licorice bullets, I had never particularly loved them and all of a sudden, 2 and three packets a day at times!!!!! I then started drinking licorice tea and its yummy, can't say for sure the cravings went because of that because its a desire I have still had slightly ( But not as strong as other lollies) but I don't want them all the time and they have been resistable so far. I have no idea if the tea had anything to do with that or not.

I am determined to do something about my cravings so I went to a naturopath at a shop today and she has given me a yukky tasting liquid to try and its supposed to help with cravings. Its gymena and peach flowered tea tree essence. I'll let you know if it helps. I am also going to my homeopath later in the week to ask about the same thing. She is usually very good and I am hoping she can just identify the remedy I need to stick to this. I guess if I suddenly stop these cravings and can stick to the program easily and without cheating , it will be a sign that the remedies or one of the remedies has worked. I am always like this, I hit it with everything and then if something works I don't know what!!! LOL But hey... who cares? If I get results, that's what I was after anyway.

Jasmine, if you have cravings it is very likely you have low Chromium levels, get yourself some "coloidal chromium", follow your program and be in communication with your consultant... if you were with one of the clinics that have closed down then try the website for your closest clinic. Whether it be lollies or chips it's the same stuff, "sugar". Chips are made from potatoes which are very high in starch, it doesn't have to be the ctrystaline stuff that is the only sugar.
It sounds like you may even need to go back to square one and re-read your program a couple of times, as you may be out of balance (hormones). Start it again like it is week one, and try to get rid of all of those pre-conceved ideas about how good or bad this program is. Try to start again from nothing, or from not knowing. You will experience the program anew. This way you can get rid of the ticker for good... sooner!

Hi all.

Had my second weigh in today, 9 days down, and 6.3kg lost.

I'm happy.

Just thought I'd quicky check in, have started knitting again to keep my hands busy so I don't EAT while I watch telly. This also means I'm not on the net all night.

By the way, what is it with people's Signatures? So many people seem to have HUGE spaces before and/or after their tickers. Could you pleeeeease (pretty please) check your sig, and if it's you, could you make sure there aren't heaps of empty lines in your sig? It makes it HELL to read, coz ya gotta scroll heaps and it pushes stuff over so many more pages. Sorry to be a bore. But also, people on dialup must hate loading pages just to find half of them blank.

asy:D

asyoz, hi. How come you had your se`cond weigh-in? We are supposed to only weigh each month, not each week. We measure each week!

4UAll: I thort that Cohens weigh and measure u before u get ur 1st blood test?? I wld ring and at least then, ur mind is at rest. I was measured.

What a day- started off with breakfast and all was going well- i then locked my self out of the house!! I eventually got back in with help of sm kind tradesmen (free of charge!!!!) but since then i have been flat out but managed to keep on track- just had tea and its 10pm! Didnt realise it was so late! Its more then 5hrs so thats ok. I have 2 600ml bottles to drink. I hve been chugging it back today so that is pretty gd for me :) :) . Im going to get it a lil warmer tomorrow- might be easier. Feel pretty wrecked tonight so i will sleep well. Does sleep affect others whole routine?? Any ideas for getting sleep without medication?? SInce we cant have milk, chocolate drinks or the like that wld normally help, its pretty narrow. Im not big fan of teas.

Someone asked what our motivations and goals are excluding goal weight and mine include : bikini :D
gorgeous summer dress :p
get into the dating scene again :)
opposite sex attraction rather being the odd one out ;)
and CLOTHES OFF THE RACK- wld be gr8 :) :D :p

Night and stay on track- the end result is worth short term pain and frustration.
Unfortunately I live too far way from the clinic so I am doing everything ever the phone with them. They are really supportive but its hard not having that one on one consult!!!.I will ring them today to tell them whats happened. Cheers for now and thanks for the advice

Well I have just finished day 6 on the cohens diet and the scales tell me I have lost just over 4kg. I hope thats not going to stop at that for the week!!I am just worried that I will get all excited and not loose anymore. Also I realised a big mistake yesterday and I think I will have to ring and find out what to do as I gave my height at the start of the 10cm too much, which means I have even more to loose than first thought(I started at 100.06kg and they said I need to be 55-57kg) I cried yesterday just thinking about it.I know you are probably thinking how did I get that wrong but my friends and were measuring each others height on the wall and somehow I have got the wrong one when looking at it. What so you guys think? do you think I should ring and tell them.I am worried if I start the refeed on the wrong weight I will have problems . (mind you I would be happy staying at the 55- 57kg anyway but I know it doesnt work like that. )

You are all such a wonderful inspiration to me, Its great that so many people are having these wonderful results.Keep up the good work.
cheers for now

4ukids, I applaud you having the guts to say that on here, you already know the answer to your vexing question... don't you! As for the scales, and this is for everyone, DON'T USE YOUR SCALES. Get your partner to hide them so you can't. It's a game that you don't need to play while on this program. Dr C says that the fat-loss cycle is about 1 month, you weigh your self at the same time in that cycle, it's accurate! any other time it's not, so why bother!!!!
By your handle I can see that you might be doing this for your kids... how about creating a reason for you, a why that will have you, in the dark times, fulfil on the program as it is designed. Dr C has been doing this for a considerable length of time and I'm pretty sure that he's got it right, so why would you mess with his plan?
I recommend that you re-read your program, so you can see the areas you are not sure about, and then be in communication with your consultant about the height thing. If you want to see the difference it will make go to the goal weight calculator on the website.
You'll be surprised what little difference it will make... maybe a couple of kgs!
Also don't get caught in the "I really only want to be X kgs, I'd be happy at that". Give yourself the biggest break of your life and get to your goal weight as perscribed by Dr Cohen. You'll be very happy you did!

Hello everyone! I'm still on holidays but back from interstate. It is so good to be on hols! As usual there is lots to catch up on, so I have only had the quickest of looks at all the posts. Will try catching up in the next few days.

For now, I just want to say that my Mum had to look twice in the distance to recognize me! She said to herself: 'No, that's not her, she is too small - oh?? Yes? No? It is her!!' I know how much I still have to go, but it was nice to see her reaction.

My loss over the last week or two has been really disappointing. But I want to wait and check in the next day or two, because sleep and water have been at odd times because of travel. Did measure though, and it is moving slowly too. Not impressed because I have been away and resisted all the goodies and am still on hols and doing the right thing. But they did warn me it might be like this at this stage unfortunately. I will just wait a few more days and see what normality of routine does to rebalance?

While I was away I celebrated my 1 Yr Anniversary on this program - with mango and water! It is now 1 Yr and Day 3. In that time I lost 48kgs and 164.8cms. OK so it is not huge in comparison to others, but I am still pretty pleased with myself, and am thrilled with the result so far.

What I really want in the next 80 days is to lose 12.8kgs and 53.4 cms (the cms match the size 12 measurements) - I'm not on track for that, but let's see what happens.

Forgive me for not making individual posts at this stage - thanks for asking about me L-Jay.

Began 9th July 2005 … To end 20th October, 2006
Lizzi . . . 102 days to go! … 14 weeks 5 days

Good morning eveyone,
well day 3 and doing well exept for the detox i am going though at this present time

Lizzi i thought it was quite funny your mum had to look at you twice that must of been the best feeling :D :D

I measure each week, lost 20cm this week.

I weigh each week because I have SO MUCH to lose, I need to go for a check in every week. Maybe down the track, when I've only got a bit to lose I'll back it off, but for the moment, I need checking on weekly.

hi everyone...finally got the program- starting tomorrow... i think im going to find breakfast the hardest...as not a fan of yogurt or eggs .... im pretty determined though... set out all my goals... i think leanne was asking what we are all looking forward to the most when we reach goal weight... i have a list and im planning on reading it every morning. It's got like 50 things on it.. so i give you the top five...the first few are a little superficial... but here goes..1. Underwear shopping... never had matching stuff- and im 25
2. Bikini Shopping.... cant wait for this one.. maybe go the one piece... never done this either.
3. Thinking about the belly button ring...hehe :0 ouch
4. Wanna do something stupid like jump out of a plane
5. this one is a little less superficial- wanna get rid PCOS so i can have babies!!!

Hope everyone is going good.. looking forward to starting... any advice on the hardest thing to tackle in the first week?

Blessings

good afternoon ladies

Hi all,

Good to see everyone is doing there best.

Shebear - I know water is hard to drink but it does get easier the more you drink. I also you the suggestion that asyoz said and take water with me everywhere i go. Try drinking a full glass before you eat and continue to drink another glass while eating and after you have finished. I find that to drink my quota of water I segment the day 1.5 litres in the morning, 1.5 lunch and afternoon, then 1.5 with dinner and finished before bed (usually 30min before) at about 11pm. I also find it easier to drink if i have a glass of sprite to go with it (usually at dinnertime but not everyday). With every 1/2 glass of water I sip some sprite.I hope this helps and as your get use to drinking water your body will remind you about drinking it. Good luck and try drinking 1/2 a glass per post thats what i did in the begining.

Lizzi - Glad to hear you had a good holiday. I did go away this year and must admit i have missed it, sand, surf and sunshine. I noticed that you sounded a little sad in your post but i must tell you YOU are an inspiration you have lost 48kg and 164.8cm WOW you are only 12kg away from the promised land you have done so well over your year with deviation too. You need to be congratulated so

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ACHIEVEMENT

what you have accomplished is amazing well done and good luck with the last bit you will be there before you know it:)

Majic Lea - I read your post with great interest and envy as i can only have 2 tbsps of onion per day but then i read on to your next post and lol at your error, thanks for giving me a laugh at your expense i need to laught today. My son loves your recipes and has made a few of his own. He marinaded my chicken for luch last night, when i cooked it oh it was wonderful, yummy i can't describe it but i will post the recipe when he come home from school today (that if he lets me he is into secret herbs and spices from his own chef book)
In answer to your question i am looking forward to buying clothes off the rack, playing on the beach with my kids with feeling self conscious and just being a beautiful woman that people look at - including my husband. I want the look he give women on the street or Caterina Roundtree on TV. I'm also looking forward to bumping into people that i haven't seen for years just to see there reaction (so vein, so very vein).

I hope everyone has enjoyed their day, i know i have my measurement are down another 15cm (total 45cm) no cravings so far but i do have a completely different outlook on food, life and my body so Dr C is total right this is the last change i will ever have to make.

Keep drinking the H2O ladies

Jewls:eek:

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Great to see everyone doing so well! Even those who aren't doing so well, at least you're not wallowing in self pity for too long... you're picking yourselves up, dusting yourselves off and getting straight back on the big Cohens horse!

Just a quick post to update my ticker. It has been a slow couple of weeks in the weight loss department for me... no deviations, plenty of water but not much weight loss! Have started exercising so perhaps that is why. But all is not lost with 1.2kg down in two weeks. I'm nearly at the "ONLY 10kg TO GO" mark. YAY!

Anyway, I have decided to adjust my goal to 61kgs instead of 59kgs. I will order my refeed at 61kgs because apparently you lose some weight while on the refeed (RJM is a fine example). And getting to refeed is achievement enough for me! Even if I can have a piece of bread, or pumpkin or pineapple, I will feel like I've entered the real world again!

For all of you who are curious about dress sizes - I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12. I've never been a size 12 in my whole adult life. I'm very much looking forward to becoming a size 10 in a little over 10kgs time and remaining there for the rest of my life! The bikini dream won't be a dream anymore, it'll be a reality! :D

Also, where are everyone's BEFORE and AFTER photos! I would love to see them, so much so that I'm going to post a couple myself in the next few days.

Take care and keep on truckin' everyone! :)

Hello Again

Hi Everyone,

Have come back to confess that for the last 4 weeks - I have been well and truly off the wagon......I don't even want to begin with any of the excuses I was planning to tell you all and to convince myself with....

Have not read the posts - but noticed on this page that Lizzie - you have lost an amazing amount of weight and didn't deviate once.....I am on my hands and knees bowing to you - I knew you were good - but that is just golden. Well done.

RJM - I am looking to you for some guidance - anyone else with the answers please feel free to reply too! I need all the help I can get - quickly.

Ok - my question is - can I resume with my 'original' eating plan - or have I completely stuffed it up??? I was 5kgs away from refeed which the Melbourne office sent me upon them closing. I have put on 3 .5kgs....since my relapse.

I haven't even looked at the refeed for obvious reasons.

If someone could tell me if I could just jump back on - and resume with the old plan - or do I need to go for the blood tests all over again?

So many posts to get through - and I will - It will be just the motivation I need.

I feel rock bottom at the moment. I have no one to blame except for moi!!!!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa:)

Water

SheBear said:
I also thought maybe I could drink my water as tea...I think I have bought every kind of tea possible (that we're allowed) but cant find anything that tastes decent. Still trying to find some Rooibos tea (though I never liked it when I was younger, so I dont know why now should be any different, but I guess its worth the try).
You probably don't want to hear this, but water only counts as water if it is not mixed with anything else (softdrink, coffee, tea, etc). :( Just thought you should be aware of this.

Lisa c, the "Life After" guidelines state "Never allow yourself to gain more than 3-4kg. The program you just completed will work for you for the rest of your life, within certain boundaries. If you gain more than 4kg, you need to have a new blood test and a new program. If you ever go back on your original program for more than 2 weeks, you must complete the full re-feeding." So I would say that is pretty good motivation to help you get back on track. If you have only gained 3.5 kg you are still within the recommended weight range.
I had put on more than the 4kg when I went back on, but couldn't afford a new program, and I found the old program worked just as well as last time. I just hope it continues to work the same after I have finished.
Good luck getting back on track. Don't beat youself up, just try and get your mind set that tomorrow is D-Day!!!
Talk to you soon.
Take care.

Ignore my cravings post from before!

I just read the message from Cohen's Help, saying don't do what I did! Ah well, can't blame a girl for trying and by the way the bush flower essence is not a tea. Sorry for misleading you Jasmine.

Who is...

Hi Everyone! So, who is this Mysterious "Cohen's Help"? I can see they are from Melbourne....

So, today was a killer at work. One lady came in with Krispy Kreme Donuts. Now, you will all be very proud of me....I resisted - yes, I did!:D
The best thing is, I wrapped it in tissue paper, took it all the way home from the City and gave it to my 'Super-Fit-Never-had-a-pimple-or-ounce-of-fat-in-his-life' Dad.

Yep, the precious KK Donut made the trip home without me devouring it:D

Also, tonight, just for curiosity, I tried on a dress my Dad bought me when I was 19. It is a beautiful dusty pink dress from Thomaiy.

You see, when I was 19 I used to weigh 60kgs and back then I thought I was "FAT". It is so funny, how life teaches you a lesson.

So, I put on this size 12 dress with plenty of fear. Now, not to build up the picture too much, it was definitely snug and showed a few roles here and there. However, it was a pleasant surprise to see I can fit into it.

I look forward to wearing this dress at my future Brother-in-Law's wedding next year.

So, if you want to know what is inspiring me to lose weight - it is the opportunity to fit into those things that has been hanging in my wardrobe for close to 10yrs AND to wear a pair of Jeans with a fitted top and not be afraid. Yep, Jeans and T-Shits scare me :eek:
