Hi Fellow Cohen-ers!

I'm a newbie on this programme, just started yesterday in fact! Got to know about this through a fellow forumite and i'm so encouraged when i see all these posts here, it keeps me even more motivated to stick to the diet. Well, hope i'm welcomed into the family, just gotta get my ticker up! :) Thank you all so much for being there =D

welcome

Hello sassysaphire86 You are very welcome and you will get heaps of support here. We look forward to your posts and seeing you progress.

i was just wondering, deviation means having a snack you're not allowed to right? oh, and how do i modify my ticker as i lose weight (i hope)?

tickers

Yep deviation is when you break the diet and eat something you shouldn't. I only have a counter because I have really stuggled with this, most people don't and hopefully neither will you! As for losing weight. YOU WILL!!!!

You can't just update by changing the no.s. You actually replace the old ticker with the new one.

To update ticker you need two windows, this forum and ticker factory. This forum - go into user CP and edit signature to see the old signature, then open up another window - ticker factory and follow the same process you used the first time and just put your new weight in. Then cut and paste or copy and paste the whole thing over the old signature in the forum user cp window, just as if doing it for the first time. Use signature preview to check that its worked properly. Good luck.

thanks the old me, that was really useful! I gotta coupla questions, please do bear with me and i hope to get some answers from ya`all :)

1. Is normal diet coke allowed? cus from what i read on this forum, only decaf diet coke is allowed.
2. If we add just one-two drops of lemon to a cup of tea, is it considered part of my veg allowance? What bout mashed ginger and garlic added to food, also part of veg allowance?
3. is it recommended to use stretch mark creams to minimize stretch marks that might arise upon losing weight?
4. i seem to pee about 12 times a day because of the water, is that normal?
5. We're an indian family and my mom is the one who insists on preparing my food, yet im scared she'll be too liberal with her 'pinch of this, dash of that' that she thinks won't make a difference. or the fact that she thinks using a normal pan wont make a difference as opposed to a non-stick pan. She refused to buy the cold pressed olive oil our consultant recommended (which i cant seem to find in singapore for the life of me) and she thinks just using those fat-free sprays will do. Do help me to clarify this ?

I appreciate this help SO MUCH. Cant imagine the relief that im finally doing something about my weight. I just hope i can have as much weight loss as you guys because im not too sure my mom's preparation of my food is up to par. Sigh, ohj well, hope to hear from you guys soon! Thanks sweeties!

1. Diet coke is allowed but you can't consider it as included in water allowance each day. After 1 to 2 weeks on the diet, I find diet coke a bit too sweet.

2. I don't think two drops of lemon should be considered. My food is strict but not that strict and I still get weight loss. Mashed ginger and garlic, if you are going to eat into your stomach, YES, it should be included.

3. I do use some slimming cream on areas that based on my experience, very stubborn to weight loss.

4. Peeing more is normal 'coz you drink more water.

5. I cook my own food initially 'coz I follow closely to instructions. Maybe you can consider standing next to your mum while she cooks and watch? Explain to your mum the importance and how much $ will be wasted if she don't follow instruction. I even bought myself a non-stick pan for my meals ONLY. You can find cold pressed olive oil in almost all supermarket. Look at the labels carefully. I used Borges and you can find it in NTUC, Giants, Cold Storage and Carrefour.

ticker test

Hi, first of all, I'm trying to see if my ticker works.

Secondly, I had to bring my breakfast to work today cuz I was running late. when i got to work, found that i was breaking out in cold sweat and felt a little dizzy. ate my tuna and veg allowance, but couldn't finish it...feeling much better now, but was it ok that i did not have my complete breakfast?
had my coffee with 6 tablets of Hermesetas..thinking that i needed quite a bit to get my coffee to taste ok. Found that i think 1 pellet would have been enuf. i think i'm loosing my mind this morning....

i feel like i'm getting disorientated with meal preparation. got home from grocery shopping and found out that i had bought normal cheese instead of low-fat and that kinda threw the whole meal preparation out of whack...

anyway, hoping that my 'small' breakfast didn't affect anything.

was reading about all the diet coke....is coke light ok? i dont even know if it's caffeine free. does the coffee have to be cafeine free?

If it states NO SUGAR/SUGAR FREE

IN SG only : Checked with our consultant, we have to do with diet coke which is not caffeine free, coz caffeine free coke is not available.
Same goes to Sweetener EQUAL unless able to find Hermesetas

yea he said never to cook with Splenda (another type of sweetner), but if u wanna sweeten food/drinks, equal is fine. Cant seem to find that hermesetas in SG.. Fornight, i went to 6 different supermarkets, cant find "cold pressed" olive oil.. sooo frustrating...

Ughh winter

The Old Me: I woke up with a sore throat and just general aching in body so i know how u feel. I went to gym thinking this might just kik it it the backside but i think i made it worse- got home, layed on the bad and woke up about 5 and half hours later-had lunch at 4pm  I havent had much water 1200ml so far but i will try to get more down before bed. I filtered some luke warm water to see if that helps- cold water difficult. I havent lost weight for a few days and am worried i am slowing down. Any ideas- no deviations so i cant understand it.

I am trying to add mozarella cheese to diet but i am struggling with the taste so that only leaves feta- ewww too salty. I dont have any other dairy products and im worried about calcium levels. I take multi v so that should cover it but....

Jr-Mint- this sounds very much like a drop in ur sugar levels- diabetics who have a hypoglycemic attack (low sugar) get the cold sweats and dizziness. U just need to keep eye on that and maybe u could have one of ur pieces of fruit when this occurs until u feel better and then have breakfast. U need smthing to bring ur sugar up fast (sugar or fruit) and then something to stabilise it (like a cracker) or it will drop again. FInish as much as u can. U have gone the night without food and ur body just doesnt have enough stored sugar to keep functioning at the required level which is when u start to have this kind of reaction. A lot of ppl get this esp on these kind of diets because u remove majority of sugar-natural and artificial so ur body can jusr react. Hopefully u can avoid another episode and u know the warning signs so if and when it occurs again, u can do something to fix.

I heard that Splenda is not very stable when it is under high heat (can turn cancerous nature) and that's why it is not advisable to use it.

The indicator label "cold pressed" is not very obvious. IT is usually just a small label on the top right hand or top left hand corner of the main label. If it is so difficult to find, buy Naturalle (the brand that the consultant has in his office) in Giants or cold storage. I am very sure it is sold there. OR you can go to Jason's marketplace or the supermarket in the basement of Paragon. If really no cold-pressed, you can use "first pressed". Better than nothing at all.

cold pressed olive oil

Thanks for the advice Dee:). I'm definitely gonna try having breakfast at home, or at least my cracker

Sassy: The cold pressed olive oil can be found in Cold Storage. It a tall-ish bottle. I'll have to check and let you know the brand when i can.also, Jason's supermarket at Raffles City stocks the spray can olive oil that the consultant uses as a demo piece. Hope this helps

Just a post to update!!!

Hello all!!!
Just to update all that it have been 6days for me without deviation!!!!
Cravings were there but I still managed not to eat anything that is out of my allowed food!!!
I have been naughty.. I was told to step on the weighing scale once a MONTH!!! but frankly, I will not be able to stop myself from stepping on the weighing scale when I know I am on this program!!!.. so I stood on it just now and realised that I was 2kg lighter.. was happy.. since my program was an interim program and i managed to lose the 2kg... hope i will continue to lose more.... will I?? I need some encouragement!!
:p

Hi Babyegg,
I was the same as you. I actually started the program on the 3rd October 2005 weighing in at 90.3kgs and by the 15th of February I was down to 57kgs. All I can say is stick to it it works. I also had to weight myself daily and yes, every single day I did loose a bit and that just gave me more and more encouragement to stick to it. You are going to be looking great this summer....take care, JOY
Oh, don't forget to get the slimmers tea from the health food shop. Have a cup every night before you go to bed and it really works a treat.....

JOYSEY Your achievement is "eye-popping"!!!!! do pop in more and give us tips from time to time. Your posts will serve as great encouragement!

Hey, I have just been told about the cohens diet all i have found is one australian website: which has a contact in geelong, and this forum. Is there other companies in Melbourne that offer this diet? and is this diet a bit extreme if all i need to loose is 8kg?? Even though these 8kg I have never been able to lose and i exercise all the time and watch what i eat -cheers

Back Again...

You all seem to be doing fantastically well. Good on you all for hanging in there and showing the rest of us (me) how it's done.

I'm back on the wagon again. Been on for three days and almost back to my ticker weight again. That's the frustrating thing about deviating. For me, I put on about 3kg in 1-2 days and then take 1-2 days to take it off again. If I hadn't deviated I would have been so far infront in my weight loss efforts. Anyway, I know without a doubt I'm extremely sensitive to carbs/sugar at the moment (hopefully this will change with Cohens) and any deviation sets me off on a full blown binge. Not good. Anyhow, i'm good at the moment, can feel my body getting looser! I'm confident my skin will catch up but until then, my boobs feel like a sack full of jelly! At least I know something's happening.

I just want to get this diet over with and get back to my life. Hopefully it will be enought to stop me from deviating again. Anyway, we'll see how I go. I've printed myself out a page of inspiring scriptures to look at several times a day. That oughta do it!

Cheers.;)

Oh wow Josey, you're still around! I've been trying to read all about this forum, right from page 1, because there's a HUGE wealth of information here & plenty of tips! Been writing down all useful ones on sheets of paper and boy, i've got almost 4 sheets filled! And i remember your 'Josey's Green Tea', what a hoot! Like a freight train eh? :p But i wonder which brand is good in Singapore as the ones you use aren't available in Singapore. Oh well, just gonna go hunting :) But it's a huge encouragement to know you've come so far!

Aarti
