Hey Guys

i know i havent posted recently. i have been reading the forum every day however!!

Just wanted to let everyone know how proud i am of everyones weight loss, and the achievements that i have been hearing.

*sunshine*
- those photos you took are amazing and they are something to be proud of!!

reb - its ok just get straight back on the wagon and the kilo should go away almost immeadiatly

JAM - great to see that you have lost 20 kgs thats amazing!

everyone that i have missed i do apologise. i dont have must time to post today!! and to the newbies a big welcome and good luck with the program

Just wanted to let everyone know my news.

After losing 8 kgs in my first two weeks i have had to stop the program much to my own disappointment. i have found out that i am actually pregnant and cant continue.

All i have to say is that i know the program works and i will be back on board after the child is born. I am VERY VERY jealous of everyone who is still on the program and i wish you all the very best with your weight loss. You all know as well as i do that this actually works and i look forward to becomiong slimmer after having my first child.

(Turns out that all my sickness was related to the pregnancy and not to the program)

i can only hope that when i come back to the program there are amazing people on the forum then, just like there are now! You are all an inspiration and i am looking forward to the day i can stop being a fatty (even know i know its going to get worse before it gets better now!!)

Sorry about the long post ladies, have a good day!

Juzzy - never mind, you'll get to it, but YAY!!!! congratulations!!! Thats awesome you are expecting, how exciting! :D Best of luck.

Well, I had a confused morning today - woke at 8.50, having to leave at 9. I managed to have about 2 spoonfuls of yog and apple in the car and nothing else. So I've just got back and had a meal 2 option. I've decided I'll have my yog as my last meal tonight - somewhere around midnight. The joys of shift work.

Any how , hope everyone is well - i'm hopeless at the personal replies so good wishes and thoughts to you all!! :)

Hi everyone. No time for a big post, but thanks to everyone for your good wishes with the job interview tomorrow, and juzzy

congratulations.

A new baby, how lovely!!

Hi Everyone

Only got time for a quick post but just wanted to say

***CONGRATULATIONS*** to Juzzy in relation to the baby... I'm so SO happy for you but I've gotta say, I'm glad that my nausea at the beginning of the program was actually from the program itself hahahah

and

***GOOD LUCK*** to RJM with the job interview. Remember to attempt to answer all their questions. I've worked as a recruiter and there's nothing worse than when you ask someone a question and they say "ummm i can't really recall a time when that happened"! You'll do fine I'm sure :)

Oh and RJM, I think I remember you once said you ordered your refeed before you reached the goal weight that Cohen has set for you. Do they allow you to do that? How does that effect things? Thanks!

Good Luck! & Congratulations in order!

Netski Well done on your shopping trip! I must say that is probably one of the most exciting things for me to anticipate. I am really looking forward to buying clothes that i love rather than ones that just look okay and not just making the best of an unfavourable situation (my big behind). Congratulations, your excitement is inspiring.

Juzzy we haven't chatted much but CONGRATULATIONS with your news and hope that your sickness subsides soon. There is a lot you can do while you are pregnant, and that is to try and eat as healthily as possible as it's not just for you but for your baby. I came out lighter than when i went into it after my two kids. It's not true what some say about eating for two, some i know have put on 30kg+ because they swore by that mantra. I'm so excited by your news, anytime i hear of someone having a baby i just SMILE :)

RJM Good Luck with your interview! What a catch the job sounds to be. Every mums dream i guess to be able to work around their kids.

Cryss Thanks for your reply to my question. I feel much better about it all knowing that my body is going to become healthier and ketosis won't be detrimental to that. You obviously have a lot to offer all of us, please drop in more!

It's my little girls 2nd birthday tomorrow and i'm really looking forward to it. I'm just enjoying my pre cohens time as much as i can. Trying to enjoy the things i feel i'll miss but at the same time extremely excited about what is ahead.

Ta Ta!

Just a quickie...

The cold oh gosh i feel the cold now...

Update on Hubby... His broken arms are healing, but there is a problem with the one that has 2 broken bones.. one bone is longer than the other so it looks like he may have to have another operation... but who knows saw the specialist today and he said to wait and see it may rectify itself once all bones have healed and the elbow as well... so now it's just a waiting game...

We have a work going away thingo on tonight at a fancy eatery god!!!! and then it's my birthday tomorrow what am i to do???

Hi Guys,

I am just over day 2 and so far so good. Last night I ended up at a work do in a pub and ended up having my steak which was measured to the gram by the wonderful chef and salad (as per the program) whilst those around me had their fries and other fatty greasy stuff. Strangely I didn't salivate as I normally would with fries and I must say that is largely due to the postings you have each put on this forum. Basically every time I looked at someone eating something that I would have otherwise eaten, I recall some of the postings here and some of your experiences and it was as if I was doing something that I am totally familiar with!! What a strange feeling but oh so empowering.

Now having said that, a pub is a pub and the food there can be rather boring BUT and I mean a really big BUT, I have a client lunch on Friday at a Greek Restaurant and although I just love Greek and knowing this restaurants menu there is nothing that can be varied to match anything similar to what we can eat.

So if anyone has had any experience being in a food situation surrounded by food that I need to avoid during the Cohen's program but where there is no apparent alternative - I would love to hear of your experience. The pub was easy because the menu was boring so other than the fries nothing of salivation value there - but Greek food has lots of olive oil and carbs so my question is more around the psychology of this situation - any advice will be so graciously and gratefully accepted. Even if I did have something that is not on my program, being my first week I want to know what impact that would have. I DO NOT want to cheat on this program but I need to carefully weigh up every angle.

Just in case you haven't noticed, I still fear food. Yes it is only 2 days on this program but I have been on Cohens previously and was off it every other day - but this time is for real thanks to the advice on this forum and the fact that at my age, I cannot keep doing this yo yo abuse to my body.

So why the Greek restaurant? The client insisted and whilst I have the support of my family and friends on this program, telling a client is something that is a little too personal and besides he is not the type of man I would ever discuss my body with if you get my drift. So, any advice on this situation will be great. Thank you one and all.

I am so happy to read all your successes and hope that one day my experience and successes will be motivation for others but right at this minute I am feeling rather selfish in seeking your help because of the dangerous situation I am getting into on Friday that I am getting a little anxious - no, a lot anxious!! .

Hi everyone,

I just want to share this idea with you. The other night after feeling very fat (& worthless, unfortunately the two feelings feel the same to me), I decided i'd take my BEFORE photo. Uh Oh, Very scary  , but boy, if you want to get the MOTIVATION GOING, take your photo in your underwear! What a shock. I know that a lot of us always feel we are big, but justify to ourselves often, not that big. Well, I have discovered totally and undeniably, yes i am that big and it is a fantastic thing to look on whenever i will need the motivation to keep on going. I intend to look at the photo often when i start this thing (yes i will start eventually, i've planned it now).

So, if you need to get yourself going again, take a photo, ahhhh. You'll be spurred into action by all those nasty things you don't like about yourself. We CAN CHANGE THEM....WE HAVE A WAY. Go on, get the camera out!

I'd love to be one of those women in Slimming magazine or even in the cohens presentation, where the customers looking just go WOW! I want to be an after....i'm so looking forward to this journey with all of you. Did i just say i'm looking forward to dieting? i think i did. My mindset MUST be changing.

Goodnight all, 'see' you tomorrow. I check in everyday, i just love this place. :)
You can be if you want... just send your before and after pics to us and a shoirt history of why you went on the program and what you wanted for yourself out of participating. We will happily include them in our presentation at our clinic in Geelong. geelong.info@lifestyleclinic.com.au

CONGRATULATIONS Juzzy on the new baby! Enjoy this special time in your life.

Tasm82 I know where you're coming from- the cold has invaded my body, too, I have never felt so cold in my life!

Please can someone post a soup recipe for me? I have the chicken and veg soup one in the program. Someone posted a veggie soup recipe not long ago and there was a chesse dumpling recipe and i can't find them!

have a good night,

chiko

So much going on...

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in ages...So much happening these days...

Too be honest, I haven't been feeling the best and I have had chronic neck pain for weeks now and I am very concerned!

Either way, I just thought I would say a quick hello to everyone.

There has been amazing results from everyone and I am so proud of you...

For myself I have experienced a 5.4kg loss since 29th May 2006...which I am truely happy about.:D Perhaps when I reach my four week mark it might just be that little more...

I am hoping to get really down there in time for my wedding day...Or at least to look good by Summer....:p

Once again, well done.

I'll be sure to post real soon.

HUGS
:)

Thank you all again so much for your good wishes and tips for my interview tomorrow, and sunshine, I'll definately try to answer all their questions.
Jasmine, could you try a greek salad but ask them not to put oil on it. Tell them you have been placed on a special eating plan by your doctor or something. Then just estimate as best you can your feta and salad measurements and leave the olives and things.
mumbine, certainly is every mums dream job. I'm starting to get really nervous now, I think because I want it so much!
JAM, excellent weight loss, you must be so proud of yourself, and don't you love it when people don't recognise you.
Sorry, have to go and put my kids to bed. Best wishes to everyone I have missed, and thanks again for all your good wishes. I'll let you know how I go tomorrow.
Talk to you all soon.

Juzzy, congratulations, that is wonderful news. Glad you hadnt lost too much after falling pregnant and before finding out. Plenty of time for that later. Dont apologize for the long post, look at some of mine.

dilfizzle hope the neck pain can be sorted, and isnt anything serious. But it literally is a pain in the neck (pardon the pun, I must be tired) putting up with it.

chiko dont know if you've tried it, but in the cohens recipe there is a chicken asparugus soup recipe which is pretty alright.

We were invited to some friends for tea tonight at the last minute. They are great cooks, so I passed up chicken, pork, potato bake noncohens vegies, milo, chocolate, and icecream oh and homemade bread and red wine. AAAAAGGGGHHHH the list goes on!
I took my tea, and cooked it there. I would have been so annoyed with myself if I hadnt resisted.
Times like that just make me want to stick to this 100% even more. I miss cooking that kind of stuff, and eating it. But this is only for a short time.

This weekend we will be away for a couple of days. We're staying in a cabin so I dont have to buy take away, but can cook what I want. My poor family. They will look forward to when we can eat out again as a family, & stay in a motel. Oh well, they like to be healthy too, and it saves money.

So although I made a commitment to post on here at least every 2 days, I figure the times I post more than once a day will more than make up for the weekend. But I have found this really helpful for keeping me positive, and on the straight and narrow.

L-Jay Great Job for holding it on! Your regular posting does give people motivation and inspiration!

Well, I took leave today for my doctor's appointment. My doctor's clinic is pretty far from my home and I made a mistake of not bringing my lunch along. I thought I will be able to make it on time back home to cook it. Since I have been spending quite a fair bit on foods and stuffs, I decided to save $ by travelling by buses. And that means 4 hours of travelling back and fro and that does not include time spent in clinic!!!! Luckily I brought my crackers along and tons of drinking of water. I have the kind of body constitution that will get motion sickness if I travel long bus journey with an empty stomach. I kept to my limit of crackers and I monitor the time so that my crackers intake is 2.5 hrs in between as well as away from my next meal. We are not supposed to eat in the bus but I DUN CARE! I ate them secretly. When I finally reached home, I was practically rushing to the kitchen to prepare my food!!

For dinner, I decided to try to make clear soup version. I used prawns, shitake mushroom and some chye sim (vegetables). The final results was quite ok. I think the key is fresh prawns so I thought I can share the receipe with all of you. You may mix around with the veg, I like mushroom taste so I dun mind it mixing with prawn taste. Some people might think the resulted taste is a bit too complicated.

I unshelled the prawns in order to get the right amt of protein but I kept the prawn heads (to season the soup). Stir-fry some garlic (minced) so that it is nice and fragrant, then add in some water (slightly more than 1 person portion). Add in all the "prawn heads" and then wait for it to boil. When it starts to boil, put in the vegetables. Cover your pot and let it simmer in small fire. Season it with a dash of salt when it is ready. You may add in herbs that taste great with seafood. You can take out all the prawn heads for disposal.

I got carried away with the water proportion so I ended up with a HUGE bowl of soup. Since I was thirsty, I drank them all up!

I guess the only thing that I find lacking is chilli! I am a real chilli person and chilli powder is not spicy enough for me. I am going to buy some fresh chilli padi (super duper spicy small chilli) with lime (add to my veg allowance) tomorrow!

If anyone found out how to make Thai Tom Yam Soup (spicy sour) in cohen way, do LET me know! Once I have time, I will experiment to get a cohen version of Tom Yam soup. Calamari taste GREAT in tom yam style.

rjm - we are all behind you!!

Just a quick note ...

Stun them at the interview tomorrow rjm! you can blitz this!

Just be yourself and confident, somehow I think that will go a long way.

All the best,

lizzi

rjm: Good luck for your interview~!

JAM : congrats on passing your 20kg mark, thats really fast(in 12 weeks), really very happy for you. Good job done on not deviating, really a great inspiration to us.

L-Jay : the vitamins I am using is the Usana's ones, gotten from the cohen office down here.

reb : dun worry so much abt falling off the wagon, the important thing is you are back on track. =)

juzzy : Congrats on your baby~!

Jasmine : Good job on getting past the temptation at the pub. Maybe you can order a salad or something at the Greek Restaurant?

fornight: I was thinking of Tom Yam too coz it seem very Cohen Friendly, haa haa just tat no time to experiment. Maybe will do tat next week during my vacation. Will post the result if I suceed.

juzzy: Well, fancy pregnancy being the explanation! Enjoy your pregnancy, and stay well. And when you are hugging your bundle of joy afterwards, that's when you can smile because you know there is a plan that will more than wipe out your extra pregnancy weight! All the very best of wishes for you and your family.

fornite and momiji: These soups sound interesting - if you work out the other recipe then we would love to hear.

Got to go!

my colleague gave me this receipe for stew. Its her "short-cut" version of stew. Not sure whether it will taste good but maybe one of you can try:-

Crush your crackers allowance to very fine powdery form and slice your onion very thinly. With a bit of oil, stir-fry the onions till they are soft. Then add powdery cracker. Stir-fry for a while and add water (little at a time to avoid lumps). When it starts to boil, add in chicken and vege (cabbage is the best 'coz it gives a sweet taste).

You can cook this and keep it in the fridge. Warm it when you are ready to eat.

Last night, I use 5-spice powder, pepper, a pinch of mixed herbs, minced garlic, minced ginger and salt to marinade my chicken slices. Its simply smell HEAVENLY when I grilled them just now for my lunch today. I almost want to eat them straight away for my breakie.

it seems like once I get started thinking about how to flavour my food, I can't stop! Like just 5 secs ago, it flashes to me that I may be able to cook "Chinese chicken pieces wrapped in paper" when I receive my toaster oven! Just the thought of the chicken pieces cooked in some seasoning and the steam trapped in paper while it is being toasted make me want to drool...

or maybe I can try to cook some Malay's curry fish...hmmm...yummy!!!

Morning (just) all!

Hello everyone!

Hope all are well and feeling motivated and confident. Just a quick note to post the weekly result - another 1.5KG! Yay! :D Although must 'fess up - went to dinner last night with the girls and we went to tGI Fridays. Not a lot of choice, however went the bbq chicken salad - seemed the best choice, though not exactly cohens. Would have been great except i had abit of bread. Terrible bread too as it turns out. But never mind. I did really well, said no to the wine, had my soda water and had a black coffee whilst the other girls had their giant fabulous sundaes. mmmmmmmmm.

Oh and i've updated the ticker - A week before I started this i was 2 kgs heavier, so I'm including those now -very proud of all my loss so i will include it all!!

Happy Thursday

Hello to you all :) :)

I can't believe it is winter, these glorious blue skies make me want to shut the office and go spend the day in the garden!!!

I have to go an u pdate my ticker today ... *doing a dance* ... another 2kg down, it's utterly unbelieveable - 12kg in 15 days. All those too small clothes in my closet will be dusted off soon WooHoo!!!! :D

Last night was my weekly measuring night... I stripped off in front of the heater (sorry for the bad visual here) and measured everything. I was delighted to see I had lost 14cm. I filled in all the boxes and left the book open for my three girls to see in the morning because they are my biggest fans on this program. Well anyway, this morning I got out of the shower (another bad visual, sorry) ... and Emma, my 9 year old came racing in saying Mummy Mummy, I saw your measuring ... I am so proud of you, you have lost 14 kilometres!!!! I laughed and I laughed... what a classic!!!

Congratulations Juzzy on your pregancy .... what wonderful exciting news! I am so thrilled for you!!!!

Happy Brithday to you.... Happy Brithday to you.... Happy Birthday dear Tasm82 ... Happy Birthday to you!!! *singing* ... have a WONDEFUL day! Someone once told me that birthday cake was calorie free... I wish I had the recipe!!

Fornight your marinade recipe sounds delicious but I am just wondering about your minced garlic and ginger ... did you mince that yourself? I only noticed last night that I can't used the pre-minced stuff in a jar :(. You sound like a very creative cook so you would probably have all the herbs and spices on hand... I know what you m ean about it smelling so delicious, the food calls you doesn't it.

I hope everyone has a truly wonderful day

I'm off to adjust my ticker.... :D
