Mmm Back On Track

Well, i am back on trak and feeling really positive! I put it down to watching The Biggset Loser (engaged couple episode) and i looked at what they looked like at the start and finish. My goodness, do i look like that (less 10-15kg) and will i look like that???? If so, i wil be hugely happy! :D

I have been convinced by my physio that it might be worth holding my knee op until the end August so can get shoulder under way and hopefully on way to recovery. Then i can focus on this program but also the recovery of one injury, not both

I have had just under litre of water so far so there is plenty of time for more. I had breakfast at 11am but was after the gym at 9am so i have been a little hungry so i ate 2 vitaweat and one orange. Lunch is at 4-4.30. I realise the times are outa wak but i really struggle to get going in the morn (just thru the knee and shoulder stuff- not actually functioning mentally) and struggle to eat! I am normally asleep from 8am til 6pm (night shift in the hospitals) so i havent got outa that habbit yet despite 14mths off work thru injury.

I have been skipping the vitaweat but i will cert be keeping them in for a couple of wks. Lost 3.12kg in 6 days so i am pretty stoked and this is without 100% following- still getting used to process. But i think today i actually got! Pretty happy so far. I got all my meat out of freezer and am sorting myself out. Its going to be another wk of figuring out how to juggle it l but i will get there. I live on own also so this makes it really difficult. I could skip every meal and it doesnt affect anyone but me! I wish i lived with either my folks or someone else for this reason

My mum is coming up for shoulder op so i am sure she will get me going! Well, i hope so anyway

Also, i know i am going to achieve eventually, but i guess i am wanting it all too soon. Is it a bad thing to actually look at clothes (while in the shop anyway) and feel a sense of happiness of the impending moment i can fit into all my old size 10 clothes and the ones i will be able to buy off the rack. I am not a huge person but i am size 14-16 depending on item and brand and wld love to just look at the jeans and go, yep they will look gd, no hang on, great! Or a shirt. They are my biggest issue- boobs are kinda a limitation at times. Not HUGE but big enuf to decide between a 14-16 or even 18! MMMM. Hopefully they decrease in time with my new body too!

I have also been having fears of my body not going back into shape and be left with excess skin- just my tummy more then anything. Does it usually? Everyone says at my age (24) it will but im a little unsure. It wont stop me losing the weight but just something i think about and if need be at the end i will fork out for a tummy tuck at worse case scenario. I know its extreme thinking and prob way off positive but im prob not the only one and want others to know they are not the only one to think along these lines - i just voice it! PS: how often do i need to change the Ticker????

Well, off to drink more water and check the mail box. Gotta go replentish fresh food stocks so shat more soon.

Red Faced...again

Okay, who is this pain in the bum that keeps on deviating and then wingeing and telling us all??? Me Me Me....

So sorry, but i feel i have to confess. I ate lamingtons. Don't know why i'm having such a hard time staying on. I don't know how some of you guys did the whole program without deviations. I'm feeling incredibly incompetent and hopeless. It sucks. I really want this, why can't i do it?

I said i would get some chromium, think i really need it. Might duck out tonight when hubby gets home.

It's incredibly embarassing to confess my sins, however i'm hoping that eventually i'll be so embarassed by it that i'll stop deviating (hoping that i continue to feel compelled to confess). You can all get me back into line.

good on you everyone for trying their hardest. Despite being down on myself, this is the best i've done on a program for a long while, at the least the weight is going down. It usually takes me a couple of days to get rid of the bloat weight i put on when i deviate though and it's a bit depressing.

Cheers to PMS, cravings and menstruation. Lucky women we are huh?

Reporting in

Hello ladies,

Just reporting in after my Wangaratta weekend (read some deviation including wine and a YUMMY piece of hand made fudge!!) - I have still lost a kilo! Yay. Had thought it may stay still for the second week in a row, but luckily it's moved. Surprising, as I launched into night shift this week and so this morning have only had about 4 1/2 hours sleep. Have a sneaking suspicion that if I'd been able to sleep longer, would have lost more. All my loss seems to occur in the 24 hours before weigh in (weekly). Unfortunately I now don't do night shift until Saturday night and have to try and do appointments etc during normal day time hours. sigh.

To DEE - at 24 your skin will be fine, especially at your current weight. This program seems to help look after that side of things and it tends to feel quite nice and supple!!

Sorry I don't respond to everyone - I'm not the best of that, but everyone keep at it - we all know it works, but if you deviate, don't beat yourself up. That doesnt help and we also all know, beating ourselves up just adds to the problems, doesnt it?
(Mumbine, hang on you'll get there!)

WEll, I'm seeing SUNSHINE tonight so we'll be able to report on how fabulous we are now both looking!!

Ciao

WATER is the KEY

Welcome Blondbomb.

I have only been here a wk but i can cert give u a few hints. Water needs to be ur friend!! I am only just starting to hit my straps with this but if u can pull off 2-3lt a day ur doing ok. I get nausious with it but i fight thru that. My kidneys are not flash after years of abuse with Coke (3lt a day- pure, none of the diet stuff!) but i hope they will get reversed with all the water, find out in 3wks.

It took me a couple of days to buy sweetner instead of sugar but ur body will thankyou. I actually prefere that over normal sugar now. Wouldnt go back to it ever. Keep up with ur fruit and crackers for atleast a few wks and then u will be able to back off. :) It depends on how ur feeling and if u get hungry. Fruit is a gd source of energy and has some natural sugars that help kerb hunger for some ppl.

A gd support network (whether partner, mum/dad, family or friends) helps. I dont have much cos i dont have family in Adelaide but i speak to mum every day (bout 5x day last 2 days :) ) so that helps. I hve a couple of friends i have told but and care but many wldnt really be too helpful so i just shrug and get on with the program. It might be a different issue when i rock up at their house and they dont really recognise me. Cant wait!!! U may stray from it depending on ur determination but dont be harsh on urself if u do. If u can, stop urself but if not, just take a step bak and go 'Ok, i stuffed up, but it starts again from now'. Dont dwell on it ( we all do tho) get ur head back in the zone and move on. If u do, remember the water! Lots of it and flush it.

Also make variety ur friend. Eating the same thing all the time can get boring. I found using McKenzie herbs the best - my fav is one with a green label (McKenzies Italian Seasoning- with Grinder) and its got a grinder thing on the top. Cheap as - $3. I love it. GOes on all my meat!!. Could prob put dash over salad. Use it in vegies etc. It has Oregano, Basil Leaves, Marjoram, Thyme, Garlic granules, Cracked pepper and salt. All natural and healthy. There are prob others.

Anyway i hope that helps.

It seems im always here but i think it is just keeping me outa trouble and straying. I have also obsessed over the scales, before and after the loo. But novelty will wear off soon- i hope.

hi all

Hi everyone,

Wow I don't post for a week and there are so many post to catch you on.
Good to see everyone is still around and coping in their way. My thoughts are with everyone having problems at the moment. Prayers for those th\\with sick parent, friends and children.

I myself have found some day harder than others. Cravings are the pain of everyones existence and seems to happen when you don;t want them to. Today my kids had steamed dim sims and the smell was overwhelming, so is the popcorn smell at the cinemas BUT i have sustained my 100% status and hanging in there for my second week. Someone once wrote that the first 2 weeks were the hardest on this program so i hope it will get easier from here on in.

My kids are being a great support by not asking for thing when we are out or even at home. We are all watching what we eat and keeping the 5 hour time alotments. am taking them out tomorrow for lunch and shopping for their last day for the school holidays(they get an extra week) but first my daughter has her hospital appointment (6months check). I am curious to know about her metobolic process because i know her doc was concerned about her weight (she is nearly 12 and weighs 59 kgs, height is 158cm).

Well my son is still cooking up a storm with all the different herbs and spices he can find and the meals i have had been amazing. I think he has been trying to make up for all the chocalate he had in the house last week for his card night. They finally finished all the extra food so i am glad it is gone and i won't be buying it again because it is really hard to resist tempation when it is right in front of you (although i have this far).

Well it is tea time so I will post again the later. Keep drinking the H2o and resist thoughs tempations.

Jewls:eek:

Mumbine, you have to stay on track for a week or 2 and the cravings and the hunger disappear and food no longer becomes an issue in your life. It is just there to sustain you. I was always a person who suffered from such huge cravings that I could eat almost everything in the cupboard and not ever get full. I have been know to gain 5 or 6 kilos in a week!! If you don't stay on the program (without a single deviation) for at least a week (may be closer to 2 though) you will never reach this state, and food will always remain an issue for you as your blood sugars won't stabilise. It's not willpower (because I have none of that) that helped me stick to this without deviating for 4 months, it is purely because you go into ketosis and hunger and cravings really do disappear. Definately get some chromium and take it every day, and if you need to take 2 or even 3 a day. Sorry if I sound bossy, I don't mean to I just know how wonderful this program can be if you just give it a chance. Remove any temptation from your house. Tell your hubby and kids that for at least 2 weeks there will be nothing that is likely to tempt you in the house, and then FOCUS,FOCUS,FOCUS, and don't forget to always ask for help where we know that help always comes from. Good Luck.

Hey guys,

hope everyone is going well on the their programs. To those having troubles...hang in there!

What artificial sweeteners are you all using? I've been using Equal, but I'm not too sure thats allowed?

To the person that said the water is making them sick - that makes two of us! I'm really battling the get all 3 litres in, by the third litre, the taste really starts getting to me, and I feel really ill!!
It would be so great if we could mix a little diet cordial into the water. Doesnt really make sense why we are allowed diet drinks like coke, sprite etc, but not diet cordial?

Anyway, I'm up to (or should I say I'm down :) ) 9.3kg. Been a bit slow this week, but hopefully will pick up soon.

I know....

RJM: I don't think you're sounding bossy. I know that you know where I am coming from, it's just that i'm at the start of the journey and you're at the end. Do you remember what it was like at the start? Sounds like you have had similar experiences to me in the dieting department...Because I've been through diets so many times, I think i set myself up for failure cause I don't believe I can do it. I'm not being lax or lazy with willpower, it really feels like a compulsion, it just takes over my mind and it won't rest until I succumb. You are right, i know the advice you're giving is the way to go, but i'm not sure how I get to the stage of knowing I can do it...Sorry, you prob see me as a big wuss but i'm not sure what to do from here. How did you get through your first two weeks? Did you come straight off a normal diet to Cohens or were you already on a stricter regime? It's the same old story with me, I know what I need to do but can't seem to find the strength to stick with it. I really am red faced and feel like such a fool, food has had a hold of me for so long and it's not letting go easily. I finally got my period and i've always been pretty bad the week before and during, i guess the longer I'm on this thing, the easier it will get. My homones need balancing, the trick is to follow the program closely enough to let that happen. Sorry again. Feel like such an idiot. You guys are probably sick of hearing me ramble on about my failures/deviations. Intense prayer is needed obviously. I forget who gets me through everything. Starting to rely on my own strength. Thanks for reminding me.

Add lemon wedge to water

Hi there SheBear.

i have been told using a wedge of lemon in ur water and a slight shake (dont squeeze it or it has to come from fruit allowance unofrt). Ur not meant to use diet cordials unfort as they have alot of things what will disrupt the program. I had the same issue with the unruley taste but i persevered with it. I do struggle with more then 3lt so its obviously my limit. I think having water a little warmer then out of the fridge is easier to contend with.

The sweetner i use- let me go check.......:D here we are.. its Hermesetas. Its recommended. And it is really nice. I have the tiny tablet ones- easier to know how much ur using rather then the granules.

Im about to have my last meal and im not really hungry! Yay. I think i have it all together now!! I still have a piece of fruit to eat and one cracker is still needed. Gee i cant wait to get back to the normal life as i know i wont need a huge Tbone steak to fill me up. Im in awe of how little we get but how full i get!!!!!!! I wldnt have said it a wk ago but im saying it now!

saggy skin and deviations!

Hi
I'm on day 2 of the refeed. I tried to hang on til the end of the week but got the "hungeries" the consultants tell you about and decided to quit while I still had some resolve.
I've gone from being pretty OK with the amounts back to what it was like in that first week, wanting to eat anything and everything.. (I hear you Mumbine - it's bloody awful isn't it!!)
I didn't put on weight this morning which is a good sign - actually lost a bit. I feel great and think I even look a little bit too skinny!!! (what a tragedy!!!!!!)

DeDe23
Saggy skin - I'm 42 and definitely don't have very much skin elasticity and saggy skin from the fat disappearing hasn't been a problem at all. My "crows feet" are a bit more visible because I've lost the plump cheeks but tummy etc not a problem, just need to get back to the gym and tone up after 3 months of not exercising...

Mumbine
Please don't condemn yourself for being hungry it's part of being alive. Food is life and not the enemy. You are not powerless and awful/bad/weak (take your pick of self abuse) just hungry! It does go away, but like rmj said it takes a while to happen. The Chromium would be a great idea, really keep the water up and I found using soups and eating slowly a big help as it's tempting to just scoff things down. I think you can do it - you have a family who loves you and some pretty cute little "motivations". Plus it is soooo nice to walk into that Espirite shop look around and know you can fit into the stuff on that rack - today I went to a shop I used to buy clothes from and couldn't find anything small enough. You'll be able to run across the road, chase the kids around the park, feel beautiful in a little black dress and be rightfully proud of your accomplishment. Hey,in the end ... it's only food-you can triumph over those carbohydrate nightmares we all called "treats" ('cause youre smarter!!!)

Thanks DeDe23! Do you know if that sweetner comes in a powder form as well? I like mixing a bit into my yoghurt to sweeten it a little.

Will have to give the lemon a go tomorrow, as I dont know how much more water I can take! lol.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi everyone,
My course just ended yesterday so I am back on the wagon. And I did had a binge yesterday, ate all the food i was craving for and honestly they dun taste as good as they used to =p. Which is a good thing lah coz it wun make me think of deviating again. So much posts to read, haven't got time to finish reading so not going to do individual msgs. Hope everyone is doing well~!

4 Month weigh-in

Well, I have been walking around all day with a smile on my face as I had my 4 month weigh in today and I have lost another 8.45kg! :D I just wanted to share my success with all of you and hopefully it will motivate those of you out there who are struggling with the diet . I stick to the program 100% and as you can see...It really does work! So if you are on the diet and thinking of deviating...stay strong and think twice...
L-Jay Have you had anymore news on how your friend is doing?
mumbine I just wanted to say - YOU CAN DO IT!!! Believe in yourself and stop beating yourself up. You can't change yesterday and you don't know what will come tomorrow. Focus on one day at a time. I never thought in a million years that I would be able to stick to a diet and get the results I have longed for so many years. I have been overweight since hitting my teenage years (I'm now 31) and have never been able to stick to any diets I've tried in the past. They just didn't work fast enough for me. But Cohen's IS different. It works! And it works fast! I find that knowing I am losing weight every single day I'm on it, is enough motivation for me to stick to it. If you start to get hungry, try and find something to do that will keep you busy and take your mind of food. It is probably a good idea to get out of the house if you can. Go somewhere where food isn't and only return when it's time to eat your next meal. Come on girl...I believe in you...and I'm sure I'm not the only one...
SheBear I very rarely use sweetener. I think that all artificial sweeteners taste...well, artificial. They taste a bit like chemicals to me. It is the same with diet softdrinks...I never drink them and very seldom use them in cooking. When I do use sweetener, I use a liquid Sugarine. One drop is equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Jewels Congratulations on making it through your second week! That is a fantastic effort and if my experience is anything to go by...it will get easier from here on in. Well done!
blondebomb Welcome...this program will change your life! My adivice is stick to your program 100%. It says the same thing in your program and I for one think it is one of the keys to success. The other is water water water - and more water. Start drinking now. And well done on figuring out the ticker. It took me a while as well
beebee 11.8kg! In your first month!?! That is fantastic! That is huge! Well done for such a great effort! Your on the way to success! By the way, you find the smilies on the left hand side when you are composing a post (via 'post reply'). All you have to do is click on the one you want and it will insert it where the curser is at the time :). Oh, make sure that the checkbox next to 'Disable smilies in text' (Under additional options underneath you composition) isn't checked. You don't actually see them though - the pictue - until you preview or post your reply.
Anyone I've Missed Sorry if I've left some of you out...this post seems to be going on and on and on. I figured it was long enough already. Besides that, it is 11.15pm and I'm getting a little blurry-eyed...Time for sleep for me. Keep up the great work everyone and for those of you who are stuggling/deviating...don't dwell on it. Stay strong. Stay focused. Only you can do this. Make it happen!

Sweetner info

SheBear: The sweetner Hermesetas does come in a HUGE jar of granules. I didnt get it cos i have more control over it- in coffee and stuff. However, I might buy the jar and use it in yoghurt too- natural yoghurt is gross- tooo ughhhh. I tried outting orange and then kiwi fruit in it but it made it worse!! I will use the tablets for coffee tho. Maybe im just not a natural yoghurt person. I can also chuck it in the handbag and take with me if i need it. Hope the water thing helps. I am going to try it tmorrow (the lemon).

Arowan: Thanks for telling me all my skin will go bak into place! I just worry i will have that nasty side effect of excess skin requireing removal as its unsightly. If i am going to do this, i want to do it right and get gr8 results.

Mumbine: Stick with it. Its easier for some, just a lil more difficult for others-just like other things in life. Focus and just pull urself into line when and if u do soften to temptations. We all do it (u wlda been shocked at what i put away the other night- fat galore of hamburgers/fishfngers and eggs) so dont feel like u r hopeless. Forgive and forget. Each day is a new day and just take them as they come. Try and remove urself from temptation. How I manage it is completly unethical and may not be useful to u but- i purposely go down the isles(while shopping) i cant chose from (most at the mo) and test myself. For some, this wld be very very very difficult but i like to challenge myself- and succeed.

I have almost had 4.5litres today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shock value. Far out. I have never had so much- but the side effect has been loo runs about every 45mins- serious. I am going to be in trouble during teh night. Oh well, im glad i am getting healthy- small price to pay!!!!!!!

just a quick hello from me,

I don't think we can use the hermesetas loose granules, as it's the 'hermesetas gold' which isn't based on aspartame, it's based on a fructose.

I'd check with your consultant. No point stuffing up all the good work over granules!

FWIW, I use 3 hermesetas tabs (the light blue, aspartame based one) mixed with just a teaspoon of boiling water and stir it through my yoghurt, it's great!

Also, had a weigh in on tuesday, lost 3kg since Saturday's start on programme. Am very happy. Can't wait till next monday to see how much more I've lost!

asy :D

PS: New blog posts for those reading them!
