Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi Maree & welcome to the forum. My first 4 weeks I lost 10kgs & then it was either 4 or 5kgs every 4 weeks until I lost 36kgs. It took 28 weeks. Everyone's different of course but just thought it might help, cheers, Cate

Hi all,

My name is Inica. I'm looking into doing the cohen diet- well more lifestyl change. I wanted to ask some questions to all and get some ideas.

I have no idea with computers so lead me the way :)

And feel free to tell me what i'm doing wrong

Did anyone have any trouble with saggy skin? With losing the weight so quick and all, Just wondering how the skin's Elastin and Collagen worked...???

Inn, I'm 55 & do not have saggy skin even though I lost 36kgs. I think keeping the water up is one of the important things with the program that really does help with skin elasticity. I am really happy with the results & it seems to amaze others who comment all the time how healthy I look. Cheers, Cate

Is anyone using this thread? I have just started Cohens (again) & looking for support please! I know it works wonders but I didn't do the refeed 2 years ago, silly me! So I gotta do it all again!

Hi Cate
Thanks for that, I would be stoked to loose 10kg in the first month, I need to see results quickly in order to keep me going.
I am hoping to be off this thing in time for Christmas.
I am following the diet that I had last time I have already lost about 2kg I started a week ago.
But I never got my refeed last time. I know that the refeed is important, but I am not going back to old habits.
What is everyone's opinion, shall I spend another $700 and go through the clinic again and get the refeed?
Thanks
Maree

Hey Maree... You might get a lot of different answers... but for what its worth... I totally think REFEED is perhaps THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the program... and so if you didnt get it the first time, it is totally worth it to pay for it again. I think you ...possibly... set yourself up to fail if you dont see it through properly.

I did refeed early in May so that I could go on a long-planned holiday and came back to get back on the program to lose the last little bit that I had not lost before. I will do refeed all over again because I really do see that the Stabilisation of my hormones and body is Vital to the whole process and my long term success.

With all the weight I have lost (I was 141kgs at my heaviest)... I would have probably paid 3 times the amount knowing what I do now and still consider it cheap!

Goodluck on whatever you decide!

Blessya

New to cohens

Hi all :waving:
have decided to take the plunge any words of advice on prepariong for Cohens.I am having first blood test done next week.So looking forward to making a BIG change.:willy_nilly:

Hey Kannadew
I have been thinking about it and I will go in for the whole thing again and then complete the refeed. I think if I am going to do this I may as well do it properly.

Has anyone else out there had about 40kg's to loose and if so how long did it take them? I am estimating about 6 months.

Hey TT... I really think you have made a great choice! You may find that your new program is quite different to your old one. I have known a few now who have had a 2nd program and its been very different and they have been very happy with the results.

I had over 55kgs to lose and predicted that it would take me about 8-9months to lose. As this is what 'seemed' normal for others... however I found that one of my medical conditions had a big impact on my rate of loss and so its taken me 12 months to lose that 50...with still 5+ to go. However, I think you find that Cate lost something like 36kgs in about 6 months... so it certainly is do-able! Good luck!

Congrats on making a GREAT decision! BEST ONE EVER! I have "bumped" the "preparing for Cohens" thread for you so that you can start making changes even before your program arrives! Dont forget to start a diary and keep us updated!

I think I posted this somewhere else- what about sugars. Splendas and equal etc.?? Can you have any of these in coffee tea etc?

Hello all,

I've been on the diet almost two weeks, haven't weighed myself, but everyone around me is commenting that i've lost weight, and i've notice a belt size is already down.. I must say i'm not finding the diet hard at all, except for weekends. I'm a really socialable person, and like a beer or two on the weekends and this is killiing me... This is the most anti social diet i've ever been on, but it does work better than any other diet i've tried! Is anyone else finding the same? I really don't want to deviate from the diet, as it says one stuff up can set you back a week! Any tips.

Once my four weeks is up, i'm switching to skinless chicken thighs, i read last night that skinless breasts have 3.3 gram of fat per 100grams, and thighs have 7 (which is similar to steak).. I the chicken on cohens so dry!

Hi Joey Tee
Great to hear you're going so well. It is the best diet ever, isn't it!! I just love it but also find it totally antsocial. The only compensation is that it is so short term. You'll be at your goal weight in no time at all. On the chicken thighs, your not supposed to have those until you do refeed. I'm not sure if you are aware of that, but I would hate you to muck up the program without realiseing it.
Inn, you can have certain sweeteners but definately not any sugar. I know you can have hermasetas (??) and I'm sure there is one or two other sweeteners you can have but I'm not sure of the other ones.
Take care everyone

Beck

Thanks, I'm not going on the chicken thighs now, but i can't wait, as the chicken breasts dryly cooked taste like cardboard! Can you explain to me the fundamentals of cohens long term?

Short term: diet
refeed: diet, but larger quantities
Long term: ??? is it low carb? my diet doesn't mention anything.

Thanks guys...

When you get given the refeed, you also get given "Life after" guidelines. These are very basic and include things like only eat carbs once a day and never for breakfast, don't have chocolate more than twice a week, if you were a severe obese person (which I was) have no more than one piece of fruit a day and if you are going to eat dessert ensure it is within an hour of eating your protein meal. They are very easy guidelines to maintain and if followed properly (which I didn't do last time) they really do help you to maintain your weight loss.
Hope this helps a bit

Take care
Beck

Thanks for the message... I have lost 8 kgs in 2 weeks, from 96 to 88 and i'm stoked about it.. I have found it real tough being on this diet though.. I'm on it for 1 more week, then i'm going to start the refeed, then just eat sensibly and exercise.... keep it up everyone who's on cohen's. It's tough, but it does work incredibly well!:cheers2:

Hi Bam, welcome back. It's so good to be getting lots of old/new people back in here to chat to. I'm also back for my 2nd attempt at this after regaining all my weight loss, and it's working just just as well the 2nd time round as it did the first time. I'm down 13.5kgs in 6 weeks. Good luck and I look forward to "seeing" you in here.
Joey Tee excellent weight loss, you're doing great.
Take care everyone.
