Cheryl's diary

well done for the healthier eating and the increased water intake today hun.
have you tried using a fitball to do some exercises on? it sounds like it would suit you due to the type of exercises youve wrote about that you do/would like to do in here.

:) have a nice wkend

Hei, Cheryl!
You might try some of these, you maybe find them useful:

Google "gym ball", "exercise ball" or "swiss ball" for more.

And if you don't feel like exercising, just promise yourself to do one exercise. Sometimes the hardest thing is to get going, after that it's easier to keep going. :)

1 slice whole wheat toast
1/2 baked potato skin w/ salt & pepper

Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007

Yesterday's food:
3 oz yogurt
2 oz cottage cheese
1 oz lean ham on
1 slice whole wheat toast
Smart One Teriyaki Chicken & Veg.
Banana
1 Homemade ground beef egg roll (fried in oil & butter  ) - my daughter makes them.
wine

Under on calories. Got my water.
Lifted a (very) few weights for arms / back

It's suprising me that I go under on calories when I'm being careful about what I'm eating. I just don't quite have the mental counter. I have to go onto SparkPeople to get my totals, and I don't do that until the next day.

Well, I'm happy to be eating healthier and that I'm aware of what goes in my mouth. I'm very sure it's helping me.

Sunday, Feb 26, 2007

Whoo boy, did I eat a lot yesterday!
Creamed chip beef & boiled egg on toast for breakfast. It was made with whole milk!

We went to my Mom & Dad's for lunch. We do that on Sunday's for the most part. She served taco soup, clam chowder, garlic bread, cottage cheese, applesauce, apple & coleslaw salad with raisins, carrot cake, and yellow cake.

I avoided the clam chowder and the yellow cake choices. I don't really know which cake would have been the better choice. The bread and the salad may have been fatty, but at least the salad had fruit & veg!!

Mike fixed hamburger patties, peas & seasoned curly fries (baked) for dinner. I ate too many fries...I thought I really overate, but low & behold I was 150.5 this morning. A new low for at least a year & a half.:)

Lots to do today, figuring out some of the business bills that are all confusing.
Again.

water

Hey Cheryl-

It's me, Jen (gwal).

I've noticed that many of your posts note that you don;t get your water in for the day. Here's a little trick I use to get my 120oz (you certainly could do much less than that). Buy a water bottle with the oz marked on it. Mine has 32 oz. So, I know that I need 3-4 bottles per day. I placed 4 rubberbands on the bottle. For each bottle that I finish, I remove one rubberband. When the bands are gone, I know that I've got my water intake done for the day.

I swear by water. I never really liked drinking it too much, but now I know how much better I feel, I never miss a day. My skin and hair look better. I definitely lose weight faster, and even on days that my food choices aren't so hot, I know I've done myself a favor by drinking down the h2o. The only downside is the frequent trips to the bathroom...but the body does adjust after awhile.

Saturday, March 3, 2007

I did well until evening again. I went over in calories by 50. That's not as bad as I expected. I ate probably about 35 Hot Tamales while I watched TV.
I have another weekend upon me, so I've got to pay attention to my food!
I got my water & calcium.
I danced to the rock 'n roll oldies that my daughter made for me.:) Boogie down!

Yesterday's food:
Oatmeal, cinnamon with
1 T raisins
Lean cuisine chicken carbonara
1/3 serving dried cherries (they're all gone:( )
lemon popsicle
1 1/2 c pasta
1/3 c prego sauce
1/5 T parmessan cheese
1 Tyson breaded chicken tender
1/3 cup canned green beans
white wine
35 Hot Tamales

It's the Water

Hey Jen,
That's a good idea for the water.
I use 16 oz water bottles, but I also drink 3 oz everytime I use the bathroom, so I get mixed up. I also forget how many water bottles I've had...I have to remember "I've had 3 & 1/3 cups..."then I forget where I'm at.
Do you lose track of your water bottle? I find mine everywhere.
I know my girls probably have a large water bottle that I could use from their sports activities.
Thanks!
:)

Hi Cheryl-

Yes, I too forget where my water bottle is, but I try to keep it in the kitchen or in the office in my house as those are the two places I am most.

Thanks for telling me more about you in my diary. It sounds like you've been through so much with back pain/surgery/etc. Back pain is so difficult to treat, you are so lucky to have gotten some relief with surgery. Are you limited at all in what you can do for exercise? I really think weight-training gives me the best bang for my buck, but I don't love it. I'd much rather walk/run/elliptical while losing myself in my music.

Well, keep in touch.

Jen

Oh my god, just noticed your last food entry...hot tamales are my favorite. I don't even buy them anymore, because I cannot stop at just a few.
