2 t syrup
chicken thigh with salsa & corn
corn tortilla
banana
carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes
ranch dressing
tapioca pudding snack
wasa cracker with 2% cottage cheesse

taco bell taco salad - no shell

No exercise;
everything else looks pretty good with the exception of calcium. I think I'll get some calcium supplements. I finally got enough fiber!

If you have a health food store nearby see if they carry a product called Adora. Its a chocolate disc that is a calcium suppliment. You can eat two a day to get your daily dose of calcium & chocolate. There is a dark chocolate that I love & also they have a milk chocolate one too.

Hope it helps. I know I find it easier to kill the chocolate cravings with the nutritionally beneficial calcium supplement.

Good luck. I'm still working on getting my fiber up.

Hey thanks! It's a real challenge to get in that calcium, and I notice my vitamin only has 20% of what I need. A yummy chocolate treat sounds like a beautiful way to get what I need!!

Hi Cheryl!
Thank you again for your wonderful encouragement. I'm sorry for the really late reply; I've sort of been bingeing this week and have gained about a bajillion pounds so I was avoiding this forum. :(
The scholarship is merit-based. They basically looked at my gpa and my sat score. Also, many schools look at extracurriculars when they determine scholarships. I didn't have to apply for any scholarships, which was nice, because the schools I applied to, admissions/scholarship committee automatically reviews your eligibility for scholarships when you apply. Also, I think almost all schools want their applicants to fill out FAFSA, which determines one's eligibility for financial aid. I know the form comes out January 1st, and it's due sometime around February/March. I'm sure your junior will receive a nice scholarship. Also, there is a website called fastwebs.com, where the student just has to sign up, and fill out some info about him/herself, and then he/she automatically receives access to a large database of different scholarships that are available. And it's free too, the website doesn't try to make money off of people, unlike some scholarship sites.

that calcium chocolate soundslike an a mazingly good idea. do you know if its available in britain moon goddess?

Not sure if it is available in Britain, but you can get them online.

There is a place to search for a retailer on there too! Maybe it will show somewhere that you recognize.

Had one today! Love em.

Hey, Lose It!
Thanks for all the info on scholarships. I just know it's going to be hugely expensive to send 2 kids to college. When I went (in the dark ages), it only cost $300. something for a semester, but by the time I graduated it was over $1,000. I paid for my own education except one semester that my dad helped me out with. That was quite an increase over a few years.
I know that now it's over 5 times that much at the school I went to. We have been setting aside some money, but it for sure won't cover 4 years!!
Good for you for qualifying!!!
I hope you have a little something in your day today that you can be proud of!
Cheryl

I feel pretty good about this day.

Yesterday's food:
Chow mein - 1 1/2 cups
General Tso's chicken - 1 cup
McDonald's crispy chicken classic w/ most of mayo off
about 15 french fries
several sips orange soda

I was gone all day. It wasn't a good day, either.
The Chinese food was SO oily it made me feel sick. It was also over 1,000 calories. SO not worth it.
Anyhow...I'll try again today.:)

Yep - each day is an opportunity to do better then the day before ;)

Have a good one :D

Thank you Cheryl. lol, college is really expensive now. It's nice not to have to run my parents' pocketbook with lots of college debt.
Your kids will get a good amount of money, especially because they're athletes, which really is an advantage. I wish I were athletic.
Your posts are encouraging, because you write down everything, regardless of what you ate.
Yesterday's intake wasn't too bad. :)

well at least you learnt from your mistakes :)
i have found that since i started eating healthy the unhealthy stuff looks really godd but then when i come to taste it it actually tastes so overpowering and strong and coarse
i guess this is a good thing :D

Yesterday's food:
Raisin Bran
1% milk
1/2 Ruben sandwich (poor choice)
salad with ranch
turkey rice soup (cup)
...I went out to lunch with my husband
white wine
3 oz cottage cheese with 3 oz yogurt
KFC original drumstick
1/2 TacoBell salad with salsa, no shell

Oh ugg. Some days are discouraging. I spoke with my younger daughter who said she would help me with cooking/ planning dinners. When it came down to it though....fast food drive through.
I know I am making some different healthier choices, drinking more water, but not enough, choosing turkey soup rather than clam chowder, having yogurt & cottage cheese rather than some fattier choice. I haven't really changed weight. I didn't eat the whole taco salad just because it was there. Somehow this has to help eventually?

portion control probably
erm i read an article today basically saying you can eat anything you want just not everything you want. this prevents the deprivation (leading to binging) but also because you are controlling the size of the meals it means that your weight stays in control.
another interesting fact (for the run of it hehe) is that aparently your stomach is the same size as both your hands together cupped. so if the meal you are about to eat is bigger than that then it is generally too big.
have a good weekend (well what is left of it now)

Yesterday's food:
Beefy chili
ham & cheese panini sandwich 1/2
small French pastry
Tapioca pudding snack
SouthBeach peanutbutter cookie set
2 1/2 glasses wine (oh dear)
3 bites steak
mashed potato ~1/2 cup
gravy ~3 Tbsp
green beans

Over on calories, fat. Too few fiber & calcium.
No exercise. Not enough water (I was in a meeting for 3 hours).
I will keep trying to eat more healthy choices.:)

Monday, Feb 12, 2007

Yesterday's food:
1 1/2 serving frosted mini wheats
1/2 c 1% milk
1 serving dried nectarines
2 servings dried cherries
lemon popsicle
2 oz cheese
2 wasa crackers
1 slice whole wheat bread
1 tsp margerine
4.5 oz sirloin steak
3/4 c pasta roni shells w/ white cheddar
1/4 c corn
4 spears asparagus
3 oz red wine
1 frosted sugar cookie:eek:
4 mint meltaways:eek:

Way over on calories, but made my fiber & calcium. I started adding my vitamin to the nutrition chart, so that helps with calcium.
I did some dumbbells using my arms.
Down 1 pound that keeps coming on then off.
152.5
