cherry garcia's diary

Lol, I'm just the same. I'm scared not to take them now incase my body needs them and I get ill from not taking them. I think the Multivit helps - I'm training to be a teacher and I used to get colds all the time from being around children. Since I started taking them religiously I haven't had one. Also the Vit B really does give me an energy boost.
wow, okay now i'm definitely going to add vit B to my list as well...lol!

Just noticed that give or take a lb you are almost the exact same weight as me!
yep, plus i'm only 5feet :( but that's why we're doing what we're doing right? to get smaller, healthier and happier with ourselves! by the way i've always been big all my life but the past few years things just spiralled out of control. when i look at my younger pictures even though i was overweight it's like i wasn't that big. i've never desired to be thin (since i've never been), but i'd like to be slim basically a weight where i can do what i want and when i want without having to think whether my weight will prevent me from doing so.

Ranting and raving on a sunday afternoon

okay, today was supposed to be a workout day and i got all ready and dressed up to leave then it started raining :( and since i take the bus that totally sucks so will stay home till it's stopped, or at least raining less. so have decided to rant abit to occupy my time.

WEIGHT LOSS PROGRESS SO FAR

TOTAL WEIGHT LOST IN 40 DAYS IS: 11.4KGS (25.1POUNDS)

29th march 2009: 159.1kgs(350.8pounds) - highest weight (since buying my scale)
10th may 2009: 147.7kgs(325.6pounds) - current weight

i think i'm really glad with my progress so far, to have lost 11.4kgs(25pounds) in 40 days....a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears has gone into that.

i can only hope that the next 40 days will be just as good to me as these have, but i also have to prepare myself mentally that the rate of weightloss will slow down the longer do it for.

i also need to mention that since i'm starting at such a high weight, it's a drop in the ocean in comparison to what i have left to use, but step by step and slowly and surely will get there. the other thing is that when i look in the mirror it's like nothing's changed i still look the same....however as i mentioned to someone before all my clothes before were super super tight, and have now progressed to super tight.....little progress but progress and i'm glad about that. and waiting for the day they actually start to become loose.

i'm still basically eating clean and exercising 5times a week. i don't count calories (which is like criminal on here...lol!) which is why i never write down my meals, just my exercise. all i know is that i eat right and i eat clean. i cut out junk foods completely. the last 4 weeks i've only had one treat meal, i now eat lots of fresh and raw fruit and veges (i add veges to all my main meals), my protein source is lean meats basically skinless chicken breast, extra lean beef mince or fish. for carbs i take wholemeal everything, for now i eat a lot of wholemeal bread to accompany my protein, mostly because i'm too lazy to cook the brown rice or pasta, but also getting used to the taste as well. for breakfast i either eat oatmeal (and add 2 tbsps of natural wheat bran) with skim milk, OR i have kellogs all-bran cereal which i love because it has 10g of fiber in it for every 30g portion. about 3 days a week i'll be too tired to make dinner so will instead just have some all-bran with skim milk instead.

ummm i think that's pretty much all for now.

oh, the whole cheat meal/treat meal business, let me address that for a minute. in my case, the first few weeks i started my health eating i'd have a cheat day at the end of the week which would extend to two cheat days then three and next thing i'd be at square one and then start all over again with the health eating, i realised i'd gotten out of control with the cheat days. so as of a month ago decided to quit all treat meals for as long as i could to teach myself the discipline of eating right, and i've succeeded. i had my first treat meal last week (no longer a full day just one meal), and i had a slice of cheesecake. i however noticed that for 2-3 days following it i had severe cravings (but didn't give in). so for now will be giving myself a treat meal after about 3 weeks because it seems when i feed my body with sugar it turns into a monster. but for now i'm really happy with where i am.

in addition to the forum, i also log my weight loss progress in an excel sheet i created with a graph to show my progress to make sure i'm keeping on track. as i keep saying it's the first time in my life to ever have lost 11kgs, and everyday when i see the graph go down down down it makes me happy and want to work harder. i can only pray my next progress update 40 days from today is just as good. thanks for reading if you've gotten this far...and all the best with your journeys as well. xoxo

i started a thread the other day in the off-topic section called confessions of a foodaholic and thought i should paste my post on here....

===========================
Confessions of a foodaholic
i thought it might be interesting to start a thread where you can write the top three worst things you did foodwise during your highest wait or before you decided to make you lifestyle change. sometimes i need to remember where i've come from so that i can NEVER go back there again. here's my top 3 confessions:

=================================

-in the month of December 08, i ate a box of quality street chocolate almost every single day, to say i ate about 25 boxes that month would be just about accurate (clearly my meaning of christmas was different from others).

- i had pizza-hut, dominoes pizza and my local chinese takeaway all on speed dial, heck i even knew their phone numbers offhead. there was a certain month last year either october or november where there was a loop hole in the pizza-hut online delivery system and it would give double quantity for half the price...i took full advantage of it and thought they were total suckers! who's laughing now though, definitely not me with all the pounds i added

- finally, the amount of money i spent in junk food last year was criminal, to the point i'd always be broke waiting on my next pay check. there would be those broke days just before getting my salary where i'd have about £10 between me and poverty, instead of buying cooking ingredients that would last a while, i'd be like what the heck, things will take care of themselves and would by myself chinese or pizza. which reminds me, ben and jerry's should award me a medal for the amount of icecream i ate last year, all i can say is damn ben and damn jerry...never again!

i'm sooo not proud of the things i've done, i made my change on feb 1st and never looked back since. everyday is a struggle but i remind myself where i've come from and where i've been so that i can never return there ever again.

Cherry, wow kudos to you. Thanks for sharing all that you do because you're such an inspiration! 25lbs in 40 days is wonderful!

I will head over to that thread about Food Confessions thread soon! It's amazing how you went from eating like that to eating so healthy. I'm sure we all have quite similar stories.

You're at a new point and you'll get that other 25lbs off in no time and you'll be down at the 300 mark!

Interesting.. I think it takes looking back a bit to get a handle on where you're going. Sometimes people dont do that and often they're the ones to be very hung ho in the beginning and then poof they're gone from the forum and come to find out they went off their new "lifestyle change".

You're doing fantastic, love. Congrats on your progress so far.

I wish I had the discipline (or energy) to work out as much as you do. It's really inspiring to read your workouts. It makes we want to work that much harder, to keep up with you!

I don't think not counting calories is a crime. Your food sounds pretty solid. I've stopped counting myself, although I think I may be slipping so I will probably start again.
For your breakfast - have you tried steel-cut oats? They have the bran and everything still, very hearty although they take a while to cook. I put mine in the rice cooker and they are done by the time I am showered and dressed.

Cheat meals (I prefer the term 'treat' meals, as I really don't consider it to be cheating) - yeah, you have to find what works for you. I'm doing well with having a little treat each day, like a couple spoons of ice cream. When we go out to eat, I plan for it and don't worry too much, I just try to make semi-sensible choices when I go, and I still refuse to drink soda.
And you have the right idea making it a cheat 'meal' rather than a cheat 'day'.

I love your excel graph - great to see your progress as a line going down. It also lets you see the little bumps on the way for waht they really are - little bumps. The graph still goes down, despite the bumps.

Yes, also about counting calories, I know I asked you before if you counted calories or not, when you had that plateau, but counting calories is really not a big deal. A friend of mine lost 70 lbs! And she didn't count calories. All she did was cut the amount of food she ate down, while still eating the foods she liked, and she exercised. So it can be done without counting calories.

The only reason I count calories is because I don't trust myself. I can eat something absentmindedly and then ten minutes later forgot that I ate it. And then I forget about those calories. So I gotta keep an eye on myself. lol

thanks dreamingblue for the kind words! i'm looking really forward to finally getting out of the 300 club.

hey blancita, thanks for checking in...yep, i agree with you totally, every now and then i like to remind myself some of the horrid things i did during my pre-lifestyle change days...so that it can remind me where i came from and never to go back

hey cord, thanks for checking in and the support! the working out part is HARD but i just drag myself to that gym anyway...lol! By the way i keep wanting to ask you about steal-cut oats because i either saw it in your diary or somewhere you'd posted about it, but thanks for clarifying, it sounds really healthy and with even more bran in it, i'm definitely buying them the next time i'm in the store woohoo! yep, and the excel graph helps keep me in check!

hey again dreamingblue, thanks for letting me know about your friend...at least now i don't feel so guilty now about not counting calories. i just make sure i eat healthy and i actually eat every 3 hours but of course moderate portions then with lots of veges ontop.

okay, so it stopped raining and made it to the gym but only about 90 mins before closing (they close early over the weekends). well, it's better than nothing and will do the full routine tomorrow anyway....so today did:

-45min weights (loads of stuff with dumbells, for bicep curls i'm now at 7kg (15pound) dumbells).
-45min combat class

Week 11 of exercise: Monday

okay, today was hard....my routine usually is always the treadmill first so that i get it out of the way, followed by a class which is much more interesting. but today got to the gym late :( so i think it's like the first time i did the routine in reverse order, started with the class then thereafter went to do the treadmill....my goodness i thought i'd die! it felt like i was there forever, but managed to get in the zone and just kept going till the end (i'd thought of skipping the treadmill altogether so i'm glad i didn't). anyway, so today did:

-45min combat class
-60min treadmill (steep incline)

i need to mention that i love/hate the monday combat class because it has the best fitness instructor who always has the most recent music and she plays it super loud so you just want to kick a$$ during the class, problem is she's so popular so her classes are ridiculously full.....we must have been about 50 people today all i kept thinking was 'please don't let someone kick or jab me'. this instructor is super fit like the energizer bunny and you never know what she'll do next so there's constantly kicks and jabs flying in the wrong direction!
