cherry garcia's diary

i seem to have gotten into some good discipline last week and hoping i can keep up the good work this week. weight-wise i have remained the same weight that i was on friday because i don't work out on weekends...but i'm hoping i can keep loosing at the same rate (if not better), than last week...that would be really great.

today was a really rainy day but pushed myself to go anyway...it's funny because now i actually enjoy going especially on monday and tuesday because the group classes held on those days are held by the really good instructor who always has really great music and lots of energy and psyche...her classes get so full we now have to book a spot in advance. i never thought there'd be a time in my life i actually looked forward to exercise so that's also a big plus!

so today did:
-weights (i'm now doing a whole lot more variatons of free weights so that i can hopefully soon join in on the 'body pump' class.)
-then did 45min combat class
-then completed with 45min step aerobics class (was exhausted but i'm improving little by little).

Hi Cherry, I haven't seen you around in a while and just wanted to check and see how you were doing? How are your exercise classes going? I hope all is well :)

dayum your journal makes me think of ice cream!
//hides//

:D
good luck on your weight loss journey!

hey dwwise83,
thanks for checking in on me. last week was a bad week for me diet-wise, but managed to make it to the gym 3 times. but basically i put on a few pounds of which i've lost again due to eating proper again this week. it's like i have one really good week, then one really bad week. i just wish every week would be a good week you know? but this week has started well so i'm glad and hope to keep it that way. hope your doing ok?

hey amiba,
thanks for the support...lol! my journal makes you think of icecream? i guess it's coz i specifically picked my user name from ben n jerrys...my favorite icecream makers....no correction, my former favorite icecream makers (since i'm now struggling to eat healthy and all now).

When I started running I couldn't go very far. I would run for 1 minute and then walk for 3. Run for 1, walk for three. I worked hard to increase my running time and decrease my walking time. Finally the two came together and now I just run, but it took time, practice, and dedication.

You have to apply this to your diet. You are having a good week, then a bad week. Work to extend your good week and decrease your bad week, just a little at a time. Eventually the two will meet and you will be a very healthy person! This process is definitely one day at a time.

If you had 7 good days, then 7 bad days in the last two weeks strive to have 8 good days and 6 bad days in the next two weeks. Weight loss is a slow process, but that's okay. In the end you will have made a life change and the weight will be gone forever :)

hey dwwise,
thanks for all the encouragement! it really does help. and i really like what you've suggested by slowly increasing the days in my good weeks and reducing the days in my bad weeks...and eventually it'll all come together. I'm definitely going to try that for starters. Ideally my plan A is to have the perfect diet and exercise regime, but should that fail (as it has been the last few weeks), i'll switch to plan B which is to minimize damage done in the bad weeks.

haha yeah, we do get some ben n jerry's ice cream around here but it is extremely rare, in some supermarkets. half a litter costs around 10 bucks so it is an expensive- full of sugar and calories- treat.
the other day I went back home in cancun and realized one of their stores was open! I didn't walk that street in like a month haha I am also a retired ben n jerry's addict. my body and my wallet thanks me, too!

good luck on your new healthy ways.
it might be hard at first but once your body gets used to it you will feel amazing. after all it is what our body needs: all the vitamins, minerals, protein, amino acids, antioxidants. junk food is tasty in the instant you eat it but the price we pay for that habit is way too high. I am glad you've chosen your health. xoxo!

progress...

i've not been able to give an update the past couple of days so will just put it all on here:

Last friday: managed to make it to the gym and did: 60min treadmill then some weights then another 60min on the treadmill.

This week:

Monday: i did some weights, then did the combat class and thereafter the step aerobics class....i was able to keep up and was really proud of myself....the muscle soreness afterwards wasn't too good, i think the step class really takes a toll on my knees.

Tuesday: i did the aerobics class, then thereafter the step aerobics class...today i was feeling totally burnt out! i've realised that my body can't handle the step aerobics class 2 days in a row, so from now on i'll just minimise the step class to once a week and fill in with something else. The class is really tough on the knees, espeicially two days in a row. So last night i went to bed almost not able to walk and today my right knee is still aching so for now will take it easy.

Wednesday: Today, i'm still debating on whether i'm going to go to the gym or if i should instead give my knee a day to recover....will probably give it a rest then go to the gym thur, fri and maybe saturday too.

week 7 of exercise: thursday

I ended up staying home yesterday to let my knee rest a little so felt much better today. I actually had alot more energy in my workout today so for sure will spread it out to monday, tuesday and then break on wednesday, then go on thursday, friday, and saturday then rest again on sunday. I think it will help prevent me feeling burnt out at the end of the week like i've been feeling because there'll be more spaces in between.

Today did:
-weights
-45min combat class
-45min aerobics class

Weight loss progress so far: this week has been a good week and i've been perfect on diet and exercise i've lost 3.8kgs...yippee! if i can make sure every week is a good disciplined week then i should start to see physical changes soon which would be great!

Hi Cherry,

I've seen you a lot around the forum and just got a chance to catch up on your journal! Those aerobics classes at the gym are a trip! I started going to them about a month ago and I love them, even though it's so hard to catch up and get all the motions right!

You are doing awesome!

The weight lifting class is intimidating to me, too, but I have not tried it yet. It let's out right before my turbo kickboxing class starts....I hope to try it some day!

Good luck with the rest of your weight loss! :) I might be hanging around in your journal from time to time, cheering you on!

:hurray:

thanks kimmy for the kind words of encouragement!

i totally agree with you about the aerobics classes, i think they're really great and i find them so much more fun than the treadmill....however tomorrow's friday and they don't have any classes then so it's a dreaded treadmill day :(

as for that body pump class (the one with the weights), i've not gone for another one since then but have been doing the weights on my own, hopefully when i've built abit more muscle i can feel more confident to join in

friday

okay for today i have good news, and not so good news.

the good news is that as of today i've lost 4.1kgs for the week....yippee!

the not so good news is that my right knee still feels kinda off. so today was debating if i should go to the gym and actually went, started on the treadmill and did about 15min but the leg started to feel uncomfortable. so just stopped there and left. will let it rest again today and see how things are tomorrow or sunday. if i still have problems with it next week will go for a checkup. but i think it's just a little stressed so the extra rest time should make it better.

the only problem is that since i'm not exercising as much this week it means i have to ensure my diet is perfect to ensure i don't increase in weight. so far this week has been good and have been glad with the result every morning when i step on the scale, so hopefully that will motivate me to keep things proper nutrition-wise.

okay, i currently weigh 146kgs (320pounds) and i'm five feet in height. I have been health eating for about two months now, and just started on week 4 of my exercise regime. I was weighed in week 1 and will be weighed again in week 6....(i'm eager to know the results)....i'm seriously thinking of buying a weighing scale for the house, the only thing that stops me is knowing that i would weigh myself 3 times a day which might take me backwards instead of forwards.

exercise: currently i would say i go to the gym about 4 times a week but would like to push it up to 5 times a week. my gym programme consists of 45min treadmill, then some weights, then another 45min treadmill (or aerobics class if its on at that time).

food: i'm currently eating every three hours, small portions of carbs/protein with lots of veges.

PROGRESS: i was doing well food-wise untill last week....the whole of last week i went back to my old ways and i'm sooo not proud of myself. it scares me because it makes me think that the junk i ate last week could totally negate the hard work i've put in over the last two months. but as of today i'm back on track....so it's fitting that i've started my diary today. this time round i'm proud of myself because even when i fail i get back up and try again. in the past i did diets half heartedly for a few days then gave up...but thats all in the past (or at least i hope it is).

TARGETS/GOALS: my goal is to loose 45kgs by the end of this year, and another 45kgs by the end of next year....my goodness, that's like shedding off two whole human beings worth of weight! But the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...and i've definitely began.

cherry, you are damn near doin the same thing as me! thats kick ass, I got high hopes for you for sure, ima keep checkin on ya now

I thought of you when I noticed there wasn't any cherry garcia ice cream in my grocery shop anymore. I was relieved haha!

good luck you are doing great. it might sound like a lot of weight but little by little and by doing the right changes you are getting there. also exercise is pretty cool I wish I could exercise the same!

hey mike! thanks for the support....it's good to know someone out there believes in me so i gotta start believing in myself too!

progress

==================================
HIGHEST WEIGHT: 159.1kgs (350.7 pounds)
CURRENT WEIGHT: 153.0kgs (337.3pounds)
===================================

Sunday: 12/04/09 - 157.6kgs(347.4pounds)
Monday: 13/04/09 - 156.2kgs(344.4pounds) : (combat class, step-aerobics class and weights)
Tuesday: 14/04/09 - 155.2kgs(342.2pounds) : (aerboics class and step-aerobics class)
Wednesday: 15/04/09 - 154.5kgs (340.6pounds) : (rested)
Thursday: 16/04/09 - 153.8kgs (339.1pounds) : (combat class, aerobics class, and weights)
Friday: 17/04/09 - 153.5kgs(338.4pounds) : (rested because knee was acting up)
Saturday: 18/04/09 - 153.0kgs(337.3pounds)

WEIGHT LOST THIS WEEK: 4.6kgs(10.1pounds)...YAY!

the only thing is that since i have so much weight to loose 10pounds seems like a drop in the ocean...and doesn't even show physically at all which can be a bit of a downer....but as long as i keep consistent and can keep everyweek as disciplined, then sometime soon i'll start seeing some changes in appearance, but untill then will just appreciate the fact that i've become a hell of a lot fitter than i've been my whole life.
