Chef's Changes

Quick pre-workout up date:

My friend who had the loss of faith yesterday, felt so shitty after he ate that stuff, that he's back on the band wagon...says his body doesn't like him eating like that anymore... I am glad he's back.

Off to tear some muscles

Solon

Hey Solon,

I'm glad to hear that you got your workout buddy back. It's always nice having face to face support as well as a bunch of loonies like myself here at WLF. haha Hoping you have a good workout, doll..... when's the next weigh in, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey Solon,

Its great that you got your buddy back. Having a buddy really makes work outs more enjoyable and the whole life change easier.

Hey y'all,

Today was rough...I have a buddy that is about the same weight as me...and has been lifting with me for a month... Today he told me to go alone because he just isn't into this anymore. "It's too much work for not enough gain, and I am sick of going and working my ass off for no apparent reason."

He has not lost gained muscle at the rate I have just started to, and I am afraid he is trying to compare the two of us...the difference is, he was NEVER an athlete, and I used to play sports religiously including lifting...so yeah. Later, I watched him walk to his table with a double cheeseburger and an entire bowl of fries. We'll see...maybe it's just a temporary issue.

Anyway, I hit 30 mins elliptical today, and did bench, incline, military, curls, and rows...feeling sore but it's that VERY good sore.

Until next time,

Soli

He chef I can understand your friends point of view. Sometimes you get left behind when working out with someone who has already developed muscle tone years ago. I would just try to explain to your friend about muscle memory and how it affects bodybuilders compared to someone just starting out. This is the easist explanition I have found but I'm sure you can break it down to them in even easier terms...

Anyone who has lifted weights, on and off, for several years is familiar with the concept of "muscle memory". Muscle memory in this context refers to the observation that when a person begins lifting weights after a prolonged lay off, it is much easier to return to their previous levels of size and strength than it was to get there the first time around. Even when significant atrophy (muscle shrinking) has taken place during the layoff, previously hypertrophied muscle returns to its previous size more quickly than usual.

Hey Chef. Just stopping by your journal. It looks like you have made some great changes. I know you will have no trouble reaching your goals if you just stick to what your doing :)

I am also wanting to become a registered nurse. I am on the waiting list for the program. Yay to male nurses!!! :)

How is it going Chef? The weekend starts tomorrow.:jump:

Looks like you are hangin in there full force!

Hi Solon--love your name, btw.

Welcome to WLF and congrats on the progress you've made. I'm one of MGB and Boam46's crazy friends.

That menu you posted looked really yummy. You can cook for me anytime you want..lol And I think it's great that you are going to be a nurse--gotta go for your dreams!

What sports did you play?

Hey guys~!

Bikinibound - I played football (strong tackle, defensive tackle...and kicker ((my dad coached 4A womens soccer and I played a TON of that growing up hence kicking))), as well as first base for the baseball team, and I wrestled for three years as well. My name is Greek...VERY Greek, and I am glad you like it!

MGB - I weighed in tonight, and I am down another pound...but I had just downed a litre of water so who knows. However, with the lifts that I am doing, I am expecting a very slow weight loss until my muscles stop springing back so fast...they are exploding out of all sorts of weird places...kinda feels like puberty and hair...if you know what I mean!

sammyboy24 - Indeed, not only does the world Need male nurses...but I think it's time that we fought back against the oppressive women and take their jobs if they are going to take ours!!! (COMPLETE JOKE LADIES). I am really wanting to be in a job where I can help people, and where there is always a demand for highly skilled people that are willing to work hard.

Thank you all (those mentioned and those not mentioned) for your continuous support...it is truly amazing to have people around to keep you going...and to read your thoughts every day.

Solon

One thing I forgot to mention....I have a true test of will coming up.

My gym is closed for the next 8 days...which really is only 4 workouts.

I will be doing whatever I can from home in the mean time...and we'll see what I can figure out...

I will probably start the dreaded jogging / running / walking / gasping this week just to keep going. Push-ups and running...and I thought the elliptical machine was bad!

If you have ideas for me....let me know...the one thing that WON'T work is me staying at my house working out. It just doesn't keep me motivated.

There is a chance I can get into a gym somewhere on campus (Solon is in tight tight tight with the football coaches...they better be nice, or I'll put mineral oil in all of their food ;)) So let's pray for that as well.

Until next time...Stay strong, self motivate when you can...and when you can't; we are here.

Solon

Its wonderful that your going to find ways to get some exercise when your gym is closed!!

But.... that is just cruel

You know, Solon... I could so take that puberty comment to such devious levels, but your journal's sacred. I don't want to open the flood gates. hahaaaa! Honestly, with the amount of weight lifting you do, I'm sure your body's going to start melting away the pounds. You're inspiring in more ways than one, my friend. :) As always, keep ya girl posted! :hug2:

Hello Chef!!

I am new here to the forum myself and am just saying hi to some of the people here. I guess I started my diary in the wrong section. It comes up under newbies instead of diaries. Oh well, I have too much time invested init to start all over again. Stop in and say hello sometime.

Looks like you have a good plan. 95% of life is just showing up, so you have the bull by the horns as they say.

I think it is great that you are going back to school. I wish I could, but as I am the father of three, and my wife is a stay at home mom, I couldn't quit my job which takes up so much of my time. I usualy don't get home until 7 or so. Such is the life of a Manager.....you know.... first in last out.

Also, I am glad that your buddy decided to continue. But even if he drops out it has nothing to do with you....... so keep on truckin'.

Later!!

Soon you'll be looking like a Greek god....we're definitely putting him in our harem, ladies..lol Love football! Go Wolverines woowoo!

Muscles are good--they make you burn fat faster--and I'm sure the liter of water right before the weigh in made you weigh more than you would have otherwise. Do it first thing in the am.

It's only fair that we women get cute male nurses to look after us, just as you have cute female nurses to look after you. I'm all for male nurses! lol

Solon

Keep up the great work, Solon (and I'm sure you'll think of something raunchy to add to our diaries..lol

Hey solon I just stumbled across your diary and thought I would drop in and say hi. Im a cook (not a chef by any means) and I work in a Chinese restaurant I mostly do the deep fry cooking. A friend of mine is working with people who are finding it hard to find a place to live but she has also found that a lot of these people don’t know how to cook and are spending a lot of money on take out food they can’t afford so she has asked me to start cooking classes for them. This will be something I love doing and I will be helping these guys get there lives together. My mum was a nurse in her younger days and she loved it… I hope you have a wonderful week.

Today is my day of rest...which I HATE...but I take it after a big leg lift day...to give them a break.

I rented 300, and Pathfinder...those movies are hardcore enough to get any guy pumped up and ready to lift....now I am pissed that it's my day off.

Anyway, I am just sitting here, on the floor (until I got up to do this) watching movies and stretching...and downing water like it'll all be gone tomorrow... Furthermore, any time winter would like to come; I am ready. I am so sick of 95 degrees plus weather.

Putting together a new playlist for workouts is my next plan for today...the louder the better...rap to metal to rock to...really any other epic sounding music...Suggestions Welcome!

Until next time...maybe later this evening we'll see.

The Greek

Hey Solon,

I feel guilty for taking a rest day today after going to the gym for the last five days and workign my butt off. My body hurts and i'm really tired for lack of sleep... yet I feel guilty. Sooo... I definitly know how it feels to want to workout on a rest day.

At least your taking the time to let your body rest and heal:)

It seems like you're keeping busy.

If I am going to be part of a harem...you better know who to punish when I get out of line....therefore, here are some head shots~
