Ha I remember when I started cooking! It gets better every time and soon enough it will be easy. I love to cook now!!

I still don´t enjoy it much and wouldn´t do it ever if I could afford to have someone else do it the way I want it... But it´s still the cheepest, healthiest and tastiest way to get through the day. Weekly weigh-ins sound good to me, keeps you from getting too stuck on the numbers.

Day 5!!

Breakfast: 1 Egg (Scrambled, I made two but only ate half of it. They turned out OK but not fluffy)
Lunch: 2 Teriyaki Chicken Nori/Sushi rolls.
Dinner: 1 Burrito with beef and cheese. (The burrito did have wheat but I allowed an exception not as a reward but to make sure I wasn't TOO uptight about my diet.)
Daily Exercise: 18 minutes of walking. (I didn't have time to do more sadly but I did practice basketball dribbling and shooting most of the day which was a lot of fun.)

Liquid Intake: Only water.

NOTES:
Basketball is fun.
Plan tomorrow is to have a banana for breakfast, possibly some taco meat from yesterday with some tuna or vegetables for dinner. I need to one day go to shop and get myself a gluten free pizza, it will happen.

Question:
Should I never allow small exceptions for what I'm doing? I know it won't make me fatter as long as I lose more calories then I consume but I feel mixed on having that burrito...
(Please note I probably won't do another exception but I just want to know what you think of it)

If you're avoiding wheat in the name of health make sure you aren't assuming that a gluten free alternative is going to necessarily be good for you. The whole gluten free thing is really for people who can't tolerate it, whole grains are ok for those of us without sensitivities. Just make sure you're checking labels and doing a little internet research!

As far as exceptions go: for me a small exception now will prevent a major exception later. I really do believe in "everything in moderation", and "progress not perfection."

:iagree: with all the above. If you have clinically confirmed coeliac disease (which I assumed) every exception will further damage your gut. If not you´re making your life unnecessarily hard by avoiding all traces of gluten.

Ok, so gluten isn't too bad.

I don't have coeliac disease, I was avoid everything I possibly could. I pretty much started this diet before I knew much about dieting.
If I can have it in moderation that may make food choices easier though. (I'll probably still stick to healthy foods though.)

It sounds like you were mixing up gluten and carbohydrates. Low carb is what people often aim for when trying to lose weight. But a gluten free pizza still has lots of carbs. As does fruit.... Not all carbs are created equal.

Going gluten free when you don't have to is like beating your face against a wall everyday for the fun of it. Seriously.. I did it once. I don't recommend it. haha! :)

Thanks then. This is one of the huge benefits of these online diaries. :)

Day 5!!

Breakfast: 1 Banana and 1 can of tuna. (I was going to simply eat a single banana for breakfast but it is not filling at all.)
Lunch: Leftover burrito meat with cheese.
Dinner: Delicious chicken pieces, broccoli and corn. (Saved some of the chicken, my Mum made the food and I was able to eat it so, yeah. :D)
Daily Exercise: 36 minutes of walking. Practiced shooting a basketball for an hour.

Liquid Intake: Only water.

NOTES:
Due to me over-doing the exercise despite my body not being used to it has led to me deciding to take a break from exercise tomorrow. Including basketball... My entire wrist, stomach and legs have been bearably sore constantly so I need to give them some rest I guess.

Also I was not tired at all from the hour of basketball, just sweating a bit. Could of gone on for another hour or two but we had to go.
(Oh yeah, only got 1 hour of sleep today. Didn't really feel tired today though unless I was doing something boring.

Uhm, above is Day 6 but it seems I'm unable to edit it. That's my mistake...
Pretend it says Day 6.

Proper rest is important! You'll never keep up a lifestyle that leaves you constantly sore, so it's great that you're listening to your body.

What Oaks said. The most important thing you can do for your health and fitness is finding balance. Between training and rest, between social expectations and your body´s needs and of course between nourishment and a healthy calorie deficit. You seem to be learning fast!

Thanks! I completely agree.

Yeah, I know that every body is different so you have to be able to make your own choices.
As for learning fast, thanks! I need to make sure I listen to everyone here so I can be as effective as possible.

*Waving* Hi ya!

Stretching will help work out the soreness.. If you do not know them by memory, you can find plenty of on-line videos to follow.

I had a pinched nerve in back 2 weeks ago and was a complete mess and could not exercise. The stretches truly helped work out the kinks and kept me from tears! ;)

Stretching is so important. I do them "before" exercise and after as well.

Have A Great Weekend! :)

Oh yeah, true. I've been forgetting to do stretches... Thanks for reminding me. lol
I don't know very many stretches anyway so perhaps today or tomorrow I'll look up some info on stretches!
Thanks Stacy. :D

No problem! :)

You will find a lot to choose from.

I have to look up stuff often bc we only have 1 tv.. when hubby is home from work and playin' xbox (LOL) I have to do my fitness in den/computer room!

stretch if it makes you feel good, but general stretching has been shown to not prevent injury (before or after exercise), it does however improve range of motion if you have a specific range of motion problem. I would post the science links but I have to go out shortly, but will post them later if you want.

I don't know about all the science Tru, but I have had injuries when I didn't take the time to stretch.. :)

I think it's connected...re: better range of motion... If you are too stiff you can get hurt bc you are pushing your body to a limit it is not ready for.

Just my 2 cents. lol
