Hi Cate, your Christmas market sounds delightful. I hope you don't worry about presents for Christmas. I think people just want the warmth and closeness, and the presents are really just a small part of all that, so I hope you don't stress! That's really sad about your doctor friend - to have his livelihood negatively impacted for doing his job well! Nice you got a good rain in, and I hope you are putting your feet up and enjoying things before the Christmas meal prep time!

The situation in NSW is terrible. Hmmm. Gladys....Our trip to SA may get cancelled if the NSW state group will not be able to attend. We have until March at least.

I'm not worrying any more, Marsia. It happens every year. I spent more on one DIL than the other, but they won't know that & I stopped myself from going overboard. It should be a lovely day. The rain has been beautiful. We managed to do some shopping & took Archie for a couple of walks. I currently do have my feet up, after wrapping the presents & putting them under the tree. I actually bought some more decorations at an information centre that was selling them at 25% off. They are gorgeous. Tomorrow G is playing golf & I am staying at home. I'll put the new decos up & do some housework, including the ironing, which just has to be done. Thursday is cooking day, but G is in charge of that. I'm making a white bean taboulleh & doing a big platter, with lots of fruit & raw veg. We will also have a big chocolate & Dutch treats platter, with lots of different Dutch biscuits. K9 should feel very much at home, although I know she will really miss her family.

Good attitude to try not to sink into worry about it Cate. All we can do is take normal precautions, and go from there...
The pouring rain can be so cozy. Especially when you don't have to go out in it if you don't feel like it. But I also like walks in the rain and coming back for some nice warm soup or a tea.
 
I agree, Liza. After this year I think I am becoming less of a worrier than I used to be. 2020 may have taught me a very valuable lesson.
I know what I cherish & I really appreciate what I have.
The rain has been absolutely lovely. Everything feels so fresh.
 
I have been listening to a few things with Dr Gary, Cate . He sounds so lovely as does his wife . I think the biggest issue too was he highlighted the Adventist church and the cereal companies . They tried to shut him up because it's really all about money .

Sounds like you are all set for the Christmas, Cate . Hope it's relaxing for you
 
Thanks, Petal. I was thinking I was organised, but I just realised I don't have any bonbons. I hate the crappy bonbons you buy & last year I decided to make some. Trouble is I forgot. I have decided I will write out a whole heap of silly bonbon jokes & put them in a Merry Christmas tin which I will have on the table. I have a lovely tablecloth with matching serviettes that we bought in Vietnam & will decorate the table nicely. I'll do my own thing. I might even have some "adult" ones. I'm really into Christmas this year.

I have a docs ap't today just to do my new health plan, get script renewals etc & will do some last-minute veggie shopping & beer for "the boys". We have our older GS & his mate coming too & they may stay the night. Last-minute tidying also. R & K9 are arriving tonight :)
 
I think yesterday was my most relaxed & enjoyable Christmas since I was a child. I felt all of the love with none of the tears or stress of past Christmases. I feel grateful to have a family who loves me & didn't feel the sadness I have often felt for the family who had passed on. It was just a lovely day. It was the sum of many things, but one of the highlights for me was the reaction to all of the corny bonbon jokes I printed up & put in a Xmas tin & we read out from time to time. I'll add to them before next year. The groans were hilarious. We had lots of Dutch treats after our evening meal & K9 seemed really happy, even though she would have been missing her family. My other DIL was relaxed & happy & that was good too. During the day we opened presents slowly & everyone seemed happy with their gifts. No-one overspent & everyone seemed content. It really was a special day.
It's 10 am now on Boxing Day & G & I are in our dressing gowns & R & K9 are still asleep. The dogs are snoozing & life is good.
