Cate's Diary

So glad your trip was a success, and big hugs you have to go through a suicide of a friend. That is actually what made me study psychology was the suicide of a college friend we all loved. Hope you are able to take good care of yourself in between everything!

Hi Cate I am very sorry to hear about your friend. It's very sad . I know a few people who have taken their own life . They see no way out except that . The grief you will feel will be immense at times . Look after yourself and you and G do what you need to do . Hugs

Thank you, Marsia, Petal & LaMa. I play golf with his Mum. He committed suicide on the 1st anniversary of his brother's death from Cancer. It's just too awful for his parents! As a parent my heart aches for them. I try hard not to imagine what they must be going through. I'll do my best to look after myself & the ones I love xoxo

Oh dear god Cate that's just tragic beyond words . How terrible . I heard of another suicide yesterday too also a young man . It's too common . I will light a candle today for both of them and their families .
Please take care of yourself this is a tough time ahead . Hugs from here too xo

Hi Cate - glad you enjoyed your trip, and I hope it all works out with your son. Condolences for your friend. Every time I think about suicide (not often), I figure I'll be dead in a few years anyway. Life is short.

Thanks, LaMa. Marsia, Petal & Jack. :grouphug:
I am fine. I am doing my best not to dwell on it. We have always worried that it would happen to our younger son, but are better with that now. I think if I dwell on how his parents must be feeling it would be too heartbreaking & not beneficial to anyone. I gave up trying to work out the whys & what-ifs when my brother did the same all those years ago. You can't. My life is good. Our sons know how much they are loved & valued.

I'm fasting today. I only gained half a kilo last week which will soon be gone again. We're ticking off each day this week as we have so many commitments until Thursday. I feel pretty good after playing golf yesterday.
I'll have a quick look around the diaries, but have to leave soon.

You're welcome Mols. :)
LaMa- thanks. Another full day but that's one more to tick off!
Thanks Petal. I'm looking forward to getting home tomorrow. We also had our agm tonight & have not been home long & have a double whammy tomorrow with G's golf & then the wake, which we have been asked to the bar for. I'm just getting through each thing one at a time, trying not to think too much about it. I'll get there!

Good luck with all that Cate . You will be tired and I guess working the bar . Try take little breaks and rope in some hands to help wash up . Thinking of you all x

Thanks, Petal. The day went well & I'm glad that we did it. How could you say no to another mother, who has lost both her sons in the last year?
It's now that I will say that it's our wedding anniversary today. We have been together since I was 18, married at 22. It was not how I would choose to spend my wedding anniversary, but I am so very fortunate & I am not complaining.
Perspective-
Life throws you so many curve balls. While we were in between our commitments today there was a crash just outside- a car... a motorbike, ambulances, tow trucks, police, SES.
What a day!
Hug your loved ones. Be grateful. Enjoy simple pleasures.
My life is good. I really love my husband & know he loves me, probably as much. How lucky?
Golf tomorrow- hopefully no drama.

Today we have absolutely nothing that we have to do & nowhere that we have to go. *sigh* Lovely!
When I got home from golf yesterday our OS & his GF were here, with her youngest daughter. They got engaged on their holiday & wanted to let us know. It was a very extravagant & romantic proposal. No wonder he wanted to borrow an extra $1K from us. I really hope that they will be happy, but also that they learn to be a little less extravagant. D lives WAY beyond his means. It was good that they visited us & we both felt that she is getting more comfortable with us.

November plan-
Lose 1.5 kg by-
doing 5:2 every week (5 days of eating only to my TDEE & 2 days only 500 cals)
playing golf at least once a week &
not exceeding 1550 cals on my 5 NFD's.
Being mindful of everything I eat, drink & do.

Glad things a little better for you now . Congratulations to your son . Yes let's hope he will improve on the spending . I too have a November challenge which is to weigh myself every week and not eat any processed rubbish . Hoping November will be a better month

Thanks, Petal. The day went well & I'm glad that we did it. How could you say no to another mother,

Love the gratitude in this post Cate. I'm sorry about your friend's son. :(

Exciting news that your son and GF got engaged. I hope they will be very happy and that you get on well with your future DIL. Does your son have any education on personal finance? Financial issues are a leading cause of failed marriages so could this be a perfect time to impress upon him that it's time to get educated. Tons of internet resources, or a local class or meeting with a financial planner. How important it is start saving straight away, "paying yourself first" each paycheck, is my favorite talk with my younger friends. Good luck to them!
