Cate's Diary

That's really great that you understand your son so well, and wonderful that you can make peace with where he is coming from! He's really lucky to have a mom like you!!

You have it so rough with all the incredible choices of amazing places to go! I just looked on Trip Advisor at some of the museums and castles in the Emilia-Romagna area. Wow!

You're sweet, Marsia. I understand him much more now than I did when he was young. That was tough!
I found a tour of Venice & the ER region & am waiting back for a quote. It looked fantastic!

I love that poor exhausted panda :D Great to hear you´re finding tours that´d actually take some of the stress and work out of your travels without diminishing the awesomeness!

Glad you are feeling a little more upbeat today Cate . It's good to be looking at holidays. I actually might think about Italy next year too so might look at that area too . I adore castles . Husband wants to see Washington. Another couple of years we can go where we like I guess . Holidays seem to have got so much more expensive in recent years .

Hi my lovely forum friends :grouphug:
I am happy as my lovely husband will be home any minute & I also lost a kilo. YAY! It has been very slow, but I'm hoping that it will be a consistent loss each week. I'm now 8 kg from my goal weight. I attempted 2 FD's last week & abandoned each, so technically yesterday's was my 1st of this week. I think I will only do one more this week, seeing as I lost. I didn't eat any meat at all during the week.
I'm waiting for G to eat breakfast & I am ravenous. Short-cut bacon & eggs on sourdough oat toast. I am going to count calories this week even on my NFD's as I think I need to drop my cals a little. A lot of the 5:2'ers add a CFD of about 800 cals some weeks.
Anyhow. Yay! G is almost home!!!! :D

:party::party:Cate glad your husband is home and even more delighted you got that weight loss you so much deserve . You have really worked hard at it and committed to it . So a Huge congrats to you . I tell my daughter constantly that you reap what you sow , what you put into something you will get back out . ( now time I applied that logic to myself !)

Anyway well done Cate

Thanks, LaMa & Petal.
Guess what? I read the Greece In Depth tour out to G & said that we could somehow add Venice & the Emilio Romagna district on at the start & he said he thinks it would be a better idea to do the tour on its own as 23 days is long enough for us & we said that we would only do one non-English speaking country at a time. He loved the sound of it. I had looked up each of the hotels that you stay in on the tour already & they all look good. I sent a message to one of my old forum friends who lives in Athens & asked her what she thought of the tour & she raved about it. There are places on the tour that she would love to go to, but hasn't seen yet. Before I had got the answer back from her I had made a call to the tour company & while I was on the phone.....
I booked!!!
When I got her reply back last night it really confirmed that we had made a good decision, but I am still as nervous as hell. I hope I can get to meet her in Athens. She hasn't been in the forum for quite a while, but I have stayed in touch.
LaMa- we're not going to be in Venice, this time around! We are both thinking that we'll go back to Italy again though & that will include Venice. I would actually love to see Vienna.
If we won the lotto we would travel every year.
Time to scoot! Fasting again today & then will have done my 2 for the week.

So wonderful! I was wondering if you were going to be overwhelmed with such a long tour, but that's great you can break it into two and really take your time!! I hope you get to meet your friend when you go, too. 23 days of Greece sounds divine!!

Congratulations on having booked your trip! I´m sure it´s going to be wonderful. Shame we won´t be seeing each other but I know what it´s like to be overwhelmed. 23 days of all new things IS a lot on its own.

Thank!s, Marsia. 23 days just in Greece does sound wonderful. I would love to see almost everywhere, but......money & living long enough!
LaMa- I'm disappointed that I won't get to meet you this time too. I think I was trying to tackle too much really attempting to organise my own itinerary & it is such a relief to have found a tour that we both loved the sound of & where it is all organised for us (but with some free time).
I still can't believe I booked it. :D
Had another FD today. I ate a small banana & a simple soup & will have some curry for dinner with veggies. I am so glad G is home. Life feels better.
