Cate's Diary

Hi LaMa, Jen & Katy. I had a ball in Hobart.
We met R(our son) at the Harvest market & then went back to his place. He was having a bbq for his mate, DBT, who is currently working in NSW. R had organised to have this really wonderful duo play live music for a couple of hours & they were wonderful. We have heard him play a few times before & loved him. R & DBT's friends are really positive, fun-loving people. Most work in mental health and/or social work. There is also a big musical family who we know well & love. I have made some more lovely friends. Some I have met briefly before, but Sunday helped cement the friendship. Our son, R, is very open, honest, generous & inclusive. Neighbours came along once again. He knows so many people & is well loved.
We took him to the RSPCA yesterday & he has fostered a beautiful older dog (7 or 8). I think they'll be very happy together. He also has a new GF, who seems really nice. They are taking it slowly & quietly. She was only there for a short time on Sunday so I didn't get to know her at all. He seems happy, which is lovely.
I haven't much time now, so will pop back this afternoon to get around the diaries. Our night away has done us lots of good. I am feeling much more positive about life. We must do it more often!

Sounds like you had a ball; happy to hear it! Also glad to hear R is doing so well. He seems like a wonderful person.

Very cheeky brawny. I never thought I would be a person who uses acronyms, but I have obviously become one :blush5:
Thanks, LaMa. We did have an absolute ball & he is a wonderful person, with a lovely soul xoxo

Brawny- I like cheeky :D
LJ- it means last, but was just a very cheeky way of putting it, stirring a woman who is obsessed with her own boobs ;)
Butterfly & jen- Thanks we had a great time. Live music & great company- the best medicine!

I played golf yesterday & had a really nice day. We had some visitors from another club & 2 of us played with 1 visitor in groups of 3. My golf was a bit better, the company was lovely. We put on an afternoon tea afterwards & everyone was really pleasant & sociable. I had sponsored our day. I'll do it again next year. (B had something else she had to go to, which was good.)

I think the timeI am spending on the computer may be accounting for the ache in my right hand. I only use the middle finger on my right hand ( & the index finger on my left) & I think the trouble I have been having may be carpal tunnel. I am going to have to ease off a bit.
I'm feeling pleasantly lazy this morning, but we have to head soon, so had better get moving. Cheers, Cate

:( Carpal tunnel syndrome is no joke. Can't one of your wonderful (grand)children install a voice recognition program so we won't have to miss you? Only joking. Well, I will miss you if you're not around as much but clearly self-care takes precedent. Take care!

I will check out the options LaMa. I could try learning how to touch type. I think I was kidding myself about being in here less. I don't think I could stay away.
Tassie is being inundated with rain again. It has bucketed down all day!
G & I have had quite a strange, fairly full-on day. He had an appointment to give blood, but they have rejected him because of his cancer. It took me ages before I got over being rejected because of my "aneurism". Bloody hell. For 2 people who feel fairly fit, healthy & active it does come as a bit of a blow!
We did lots of shopping for us & the golf club. I bought some lightweight, navy blue Summer slacks & a matching shirt. I usually wear black, black & colours that go with black, like red & grey. I'm trying to branch out. I quite like them.
D is coming for dinner tomorrow night with the grandkids. That will be lovely. Tomorrow we are staying home & having a lazy day :D
The forum is really active at the moment & there is a great mix of people, who are supporting one another. I'm loving it!
Lots of love to all, xoxo Cate

Your wardrobe sounds similar to mine. Mostly black with some dark blue, dark green and browns. Very earthen.

And blood is a finicky thing. I haven't been able to give in the past because of having gotten a tattoo within the last 12 months, after recovering from certain illnesses and low iron. It seems there's about 1,000 different ways you can be disqualified from donating.

I´m rarely able to donate because I either don´t have enough blood iron or I´d recently been to some country on the watch list. You know, exotic places like... Bali. Or Canada. Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands... or Austria, if you want to donate in Germany.

If you are diabetic and your blood sugar is high are you more appealing to vampires?
I know I know..I have such deep thoughts!

You only use the middle finger on your right hand and the index finger on your left? You must be really good at "hunting and pecking." It'd take me forever to type with two fingers.

Hi Cate,

I wonder if we did an informal poll as to how many people on this forum wear a lot of black rather than a color - how many would say 'yes'. I always wore black to hide things- like my belly and any other larger parts-lol. I still wear black. I am not really a guy that wears a lot of color except for my running clothes. My running clothes are all bright colors- blues, lime greens, fluorescent yellow- don't know why. I would never wear those colors normally.
