Cate's Diary

I think it's on the iphone app Mystic. I'll check it out later.
I am back on track & keeping under 1500 cals a day & weighing twice a week (Friday & Monday).
I rode my bike for 25 mins yesterday @ 30km an hour (broken into 2)
Although I was home all day on my own I did not snack on anything I shouldn't! Only fresh fruit.
I weighed this morning & I have 6.5kg to lose.
I often read parts of the Beck Diet Solution book while I'm riding my bike. I think it's really good. It's the Cognitive thinking aspects of it that work for me. I recommend it to anyone starting out.

It feels so good to be back on track mentally, but also logging again. I really do need that discipline & structure.
I'm playing golf tomorrow, with mostly men & am going to play with the women next Wednesday. I could easily not bother playing with the women, but I'll make myself. I won't get better unless I play at least twice a week.

It's sunny today again after another chilly night. This weather is lovely. We're going to take our rubbish to the tip, potter around at the golf course for a while & take the recycling from there, do some shopping, visit Mum & maybe I'll ride the bike again when we get home. I might have a quick hit while we're out there.
Cheers, Cate.

Great job with getting on track and logging again! I agree with you about how great it feels to be on track! Makes such a difference!

Oh it does Mystic, it really does. I feel so much better mentally when I am eating less & well. It's about time I stuck with it 100%.

I played golf today & played the best I have for about 2 months. I drove well & hardly messed up at all. My putting wasn't great still, but my whole game was so much better than it has felt for ages. We played a comp against another club & I was in the top 10 for our club & also I beat the men at our club for a nearest the pin. Very happy about my day. I ate very well (ie not much & nothing unhealthy). There were so many cakes & slices, pies, sausage rolls etc & I only ate a few GF tuna patties that G made & 2 bananas. I weighed again this morning & I have dropped a kilo this week- 6 to go!

Very proud of you Cate!!! Great job. 1 kilo in a week is no joke. That's like 2.2 pounds I think.

And congrats on the closest to the pin too. Sounds like the new plan is working.

Thank you Vee. :D Dropping that kilo has made me feel so much better! It is 2.2 lbs. I felt great after golf yesterday & do still this morning. I am getting fitter & get around 18 holes much better these days & don't pull up stiff & sore any more. Our course is very hilly. We had great company & played with a couple we like from the other club(that's one advantage of G being captain).
My BIL is delivering the treadmill this morning! I'm quite excited about that. I would love to fit it in our living room, but may put it in the Snooker room. I know I would use it much more if it's next to my bike in the LR. I'm not sure how much space it takes up as I didn't look to closely at it when it was offered, I just said yes please. It belonged to this BIL who had it at his sister's house. I'm not sure she ever used it. I hope I like it! I'll try to.
Better scoot around the diaries! Cheers, Cate.

Glad you had a good day of golf! I hope that you like your treadmill! They are great when the weather outside is crummy but you still want a workout, and it's nice to have some variety.

kaplooie- A Snooker room is a large(because it has to be as Snooker tables are 12' x 6'-twice the size of a pool/8-Ball table) room that has a Snooker table in it.View attachment 22884 Ours is set up like a bar, with lots of beer/whisky/sports posters/photos on the walls. It's sometimes called a rumpus room. I put the treadmill in there as we don't use the room often enough, it's always cool & I have an old-fashioned record player in there. I have been doing some cleaning/re-arranging this afternoon in there & have been rocking to some old vinyl records including Ike & Tina Turner & Cold Chisel. I am going to love this treadmill! It will be the perfect excuse to listen to some old favourites :D

Mystic- It's a beauty! I can tell I'm going to love it. It is much better than I thought it would be. It looks like this- View attachment 22885

Having a good day :)

Congrats on your golf game cate!!! Way to go!!!

As I predicted, the more I have played the last several weeks my scores have gone up....82, 79 the last couple times I played. I was playing courses I don't play often and are much more difficult (TPC Tampa Bay) but I played bad for me. So I'm going to lay off as much golf and then see how I do. I will NEVER understand that about my golf game. Play once every 2 weeks score low 70s. Play twice per week score 80. I'm backwards.

Thanks Mystic *fingers & toes crossed* that things keep going the right way for a while.
Thanks Bug- My handicap came in 1.1 in the one game as it was 10 shots better than my worst flagged one(in Aus your handicap goes by your best(flagged) 8 games in your last 20 & it can't go out by more than 5 shots above your lowest flagged game in the year). It had been coming in .1 for about 9 games in a row, so 1.1 had me very excited. It was my best game so far in the 2.5years I have been playing golf. It felt so good to be hitting well off the tee again. I thought I had lost the ability altogether! Golf is such a crazy game, but I love it!

Having another at home day today so will do bike/treadmill/housework. I'm going to work on the Snooker room & get it ready for a Snooker night with G's 8-ball team on their next bye.

I had a billiard room (1800 sq foot finished basement) at my last house. It was my man cave with bar, beer lights, 60s Music posters, car trophies, etc. I had an exercise area off to one corner with a treadmill, bowflex, and weight bench. I also had a den area with large TV, a guest bedroom, and a huge bathroom. When we moved to Florida and sold the house I traded my 8 foot slate top pool table for a bunch of tools and got rid of the bowflex and weight bench. I miss that house and I miss shooting pool. I used to play a lot.

Hi Bug. While I was typing in your diary, you were typing in mine. Our family love pool. My husband & both sons all play competition pool & have represented our State. Our younger son represented Australia in the world titles once. Putting the treadmill in a corner of it will take me in there more often now & it will be more presentable for visitors. It will also spur me on to get some more stuff done in there. We don't know anyone else who has a full-sized Snooker/Billiards table. Playing pool is a very sociable thing to do & we must start inviting more people up for a Snooker night. After 18 years of owning a bar & being very hospitable, we're now more inclined to have our home as our haven & socialise elsewhere. Most of our pool playing is with our sons & their friends & that is only very occasional.

I'm off for the day to do the bar for the vets golfers again, shop, visit Mum etc. It's another lovely day. Cheers, Cate

When we got home yesterday we were both absolutely exhausted & I mean shattered. We were sniffly & achy & both fell asleep quite a few times, then during the night we kept waking.....& waking.......I think I woke about 10 times. I don't feel too bad this morning & am about to head for golf as I have missed the last 2 weeks playing with the women. I have been playing on Saturdays with the men instead & really enjoying it. It is really foggy & rain is predicted, but I'm going anyway. I'll see what the day brings. Some of the women are lovely.

Feeling better for being back on track exercise & diet-wise. Cheers, Cate.

Thanks Mystic. I'm afraid the trip didn't end in a game of golf as it rained when I got there & no-one was keen. I did some more tidying up, had a natter & then they adjourned to the deli, I visited Mum, did a little shopping & came home & had a lazy, but pleasant day.
G has been called in to work today & I plan on getting stuck into some exercise!

Hi JF. It has been 8 years since I followed the Cohen's program. There is lots of info online & it would be best you checked it out. It worked for me because I followed it to the letter for 28 weeks. I could say I found it hard, but that is not strictly true. It is very strict, but the structure suited me at the time. I really don't want to spruik the program in here. All I can say is it worked for me. I honestly did not have one thing that was not on the program for the whole 28 weeks- not a grain of rice, a sip of wine, a vegetable on the list etc. It's not for the faint hearted!

Today- have ridden my bike & eaten very well. I feel like I'm back on track. Now, if I can forgo my half bottle of red wine tonight, I will be feeling positively angelic! I have inputted my dinner already & still have 550 cals left. How good would that be? I so want to lose this last 6kg that have been hanging around for way too long!
