Cate's Diary

Thank you Mystic & LaMa. I haven't done much at all, I'm afraid. I have been looking up the medication he was prescribed & the dose he is on is quite high. He feels like a zombie on it & can't function at all. He stopped taking them as he had 3 extra night's work & would not have been able to work at all on them.I just spoke to him & he told me he is going to quit his job. I suggested asking for time off & to make an appointment to go see the doc & follow through with the referral to a psych to make sure he gets the appropriate medication & treatment. I do think he has been started off on too strong a dose.

I am freaking out a little & feel worried sick, but bringing him home for a while might just help.
I react so strongly to any medication, especially anti-depressants, & I can really imagine how badly he is feeling.

I'll let you know how things go xo Cate
I think we'll be driving down & picking him up & bringing him home for a while.

One of R's very good friends thinks it would be best if he sees a counsellor down there as bringing him home will just delay getting professional help & then he may find it harder to settle back when he goes home. I have sent him a message but am waiting to hear back. G had a terrible night's sleep. I did some crying last night & then slept OK.

I feel sure that the medication prescribed by his doctor is not the right one for him.

We will go get some wood today as the sun is shining & it will take our minds off it for a while. Well, it will be good for us anyway!
xo Cate

Sorry your son is having such a rough go with the Meds. But seeing a psych that has prescribing privileges and knows a bad reaction to drugs is his best bet. Not all drugs affect all people the same. And, I notice a good cry helps me sleep when I'm stressed too. Tell G to give it a whirl.

Thanks kp & Mystic. I appreciate your support xoxo

I messaged R this morning, with my thoughts about the medication & seeking counselling & he said that he was going in to work for a few hours & would ring me this afternoon. That, in itself, is a plus. I also let him know that I had messaged one of his very good friends (DT) & I forwarded on his message back to me, with some suggestions, including R not coming home, because it might make it harder to settle back afterwards. He is such a good friend & his partner is a Psych who works for a counselling service near R. I think DT may have rung him today already. He said he was going to within a couple of days.

I really appreciate the support I get back from my friends in this forum. Some of it is via PM's & I respect people's privacy & value my friendships very much.
Thank you, xoxo Cate

He is ready to get better! I can only hope! He has had his phone turned off for 2 days but sent me a "sorry Mum" text today & said he was trying to sort some things out.
We're having the GK's tomorrow as their Mum has hurt her back. Happy to!
I'm fine. I had a good day really. Market shopping, visiting Mum, talked to my sister, ran/walked on the treadmill, ate well etc
Love to all xoC

Hope you enjoyed the GKs!

Just talked to my Mom. Neither me nor my sister have had kids (she's 45) and so my Mom used her little sister's (my mom has a sister 20 years younger than her) kids as "surrogate grandkids." But they turn 17 and 18 in a few months and so she's now out looking for more surrogate grandkids. My Dad's sister's daughter just had a baby, so my Mom is going to try there.

Naww..I hope your Mum succeeds there. What young person wouldn't be grateful to have a surrogate grandma to help her with her new baby. Both our mothers were a long way away when we had our kids & I would almost have killed to have a surrogate grandma nearby.
I'm not really into the small baby stuff, but love it when they turn into little humans you can have a laugh with.

Had a good day today but, once again, did not go to golf with the women. We got a nice load of wood, ate healthy & are now enjoying a Cab/Merlot. I am finding it very hard to be bothered with the women golfers! B & I might start playing with the Vets!

I went to the driving range after work today cate and pounded golf balls for 2 hours. I went back and tried 2 older sets of irons I have that I used to use a lot and think I'll be switching back to one of them. It's a set from the 80s, but I pound them and seem to hit them straighter. The new irons I have I've started nuking them ridiculous distances and developed a pronounced hook. The older irons I hit more consistent distances and straighter. We'll see the next time I play. I hope you get back out and play soon...rustiness in a golf game can develop quickly!!! Ask me how I know.:willy_nilly:

I've got to get out some clubs and get ready for the Tundra Golf Classic, it's in August and its sneaking up on me! Love a good cab, sipping a glass of Pinot noir right now.

I know I really need to get out there very soon & have a hit. I'll make myself go next week!!
