Cate's Diary

Glad you had a good time with the grandkids. I should have spent some time outside today, it was windy but so warm. But I didn't haha.

Spent lots of time outside, soaking up the sunshine, knowing that the days will start drawing in. Did some gardening, went for a walk, more gardening, bbq with D, our older son. Yet another good day :)

Right now I am loving our spring weather, but Autumn is my favorite. All the leaves turn a pretty color, it's perfect weather for a hooded jacket, and that's usually when I start indulging in a hot cocoa every once in a while. lol! Glad you had a good day enjoying the outside. :)

I just realized we're on opposite seasons! You're in autumn and we're about to enter spring. Very cool! Spring is my favorite time of year. I love seeing all of the trees starting to bud and all of the new animals that visit our yard. It's a special time of year for me. :)

Oaks- Our Winter's are not extreme- 3o-13o C on average. We mostly have fresh, crisp days. It doesn't snow where we live. As Tasmania is an island nowhere is far from the sea. We don't have bleak Winters.
Jen- I love Spring! It's a psychological thing with me. Although our Winters are not extreme, I imagine them as worse than they are. I'll try to change my thinking!
Mandy- I think it's basic human nature to enjoy Spring :) It feels like a positive time. Now, why I don't feel that way about Autumn, I will need to work on. Autumn could be the new Spring. ;) Think pretty colours, cuddles......... I'll work on it!

Going out to lunch today with the golfing women, to farewell one of my favourites, who has to go back to the UK for 6 months. They go backwards & forwards each year & can't get Australian citizenship, which is CRAZY. They both get UK pensions, have private health insurance & can't get citizenship. Go figure. She is so much fun & I will miss her. Luckily we have a newbie who I also really like. I have asked her to partner me in the women's foursomes.

Time to go make another pot of coffee. We have a bit of a stand-off almost every morning to see who can outlast the other, but it looks like my G has won!

My cousin and dear friend was born here, but her husband is from England. They met well she was living in Scotland with family for a couple years. They married in Scotland, then the moved back to Canada and he's having a horrible time trying to get his citizenship. even though they are married and have an 11 week old baby who was born here they may have to go back to Scotland until it's sorted :( it sucks i missed her so much when she was gone and its so nice being able to see her and the baby. Immigration problems!

Just realised I didn't post in my diary yesterday. I enjoyed the lunch, but have taken a serious hit with fragrance overload. 18 women there & 17 of them wore fragrance. I have had head spins, itches, headache, snuffles, sneezes, irritability......Probably the worst reaction I have had in a long time. Today I have felt shattered & have reacted doubly to everyone & everything. My brain is not up to computing anything much.

Oh no! I find perfume annoying enough without getting a headache from it. We have one female at work who you never have to worry about sneaking up on you... She's made casual references about wearing too much but I've never had it in me to say YES! I hope you're feeling better now.

Brrr, I don´t know how people can live in a cloud all day! And a collision of 17 clouds would certainly cause a thunderstorm for my skin. Hope you´re feeling better Cate.

Much better today, thanks sweets. I'm still a bit itchy, but the fog in my brain has lifted, after a day at home. Perfume is poison to me xo

Struggling today again, really struggling. The GK's are here & there are so many strong fragrances in my home. I am itchy, I have a splitting headache, struggling for breath, hot flushes, head spins. Gahhhhh!!! It bloody sucks. My GD has had her hair treated for nits apparently, their clothes smell...... I actually have spent most of the day outside on my own. Far out! I'm going to have to buy a whole heap of fragrance-free stuff for our son to use with them, or I won't be able to have them here again. :(

I know what you mean; the first thing I used to do on getting back from the hairdresser, no matter how much fun they´d had playing with my hair and getting it pretty, was wash my hair - thoroughly - to get rid of the smells. So glad I now found someone who accepts (I wrote "understand" first but that´d be a lie) I don´t want scalding hot water on my scalp, I don´t want any leave-in product in my hair and I can´t bear a noisy blow-drier near my ears. I know, I´m fussy, but it isn´t actually more work for her...

Thanks LaMa & Mystic. You know, the best thing anyone can do is try to understand & offer support xoxo

G & I played golf together in the Captain & President's Day & we won the locals comp. We won a prize ( for 4 people & 2 carts) to play 18 holes at a course up the coast that I have not played at before. G was hoping to win it, but neither of us thought we would. I didn't think we had played well enough to win. Our score was not the best on the day, but was the best of the locals. We played with a guy we played with last year, but he partnered a woman who is a brilliant golfer. I was in awe of her ability all day & that is probably why I felt I didn't play well. G has not seen a woman who could drive like her. She was awesome! A bonus was she hates perfume & never wears it.
I got around the course easier than I have been lately, but am very stiff today. I think it helps that I also played on Monday. My knees seem to be grating more these days. Perhaps it's time I told a doctor.....

We are in our work gear today & are spending the day at home :) I don't think we'll do too much though- maybe just one load of wood. Bye for now, xo Cate
