Cate's Diary

Thank you lovelies! In a rush as off to do the bar etc for the golf club today. It's the final round of the club championships & it's my lovely husband's 65th birthday. I can't believe it really. 65? He was 21 when we started going out. Where did that time go? Seriously! Bye for now xoxo Cate

I finally remembered to post my quote on happiness:

There is no biological imperative that drives you to be in a state of happiness, but neither is there an imperative that dictates that you be miserable. Strive to do what makes you good or better and be happy in that pursuit and okay in your failures. Seek the good and the true and see the beauty in it. See the beauty not only in the good and true, but in the seeking itself.

I've been suffering from anxiety lately. I'm still in flight or fight mode I'm afraid. Our YS's depression is always in the back of my mind & the fright we got from our OS breaking his back has triggered this anxiety I think. Now that our OS is healing I should not be as uptight. My BP has gone back up again, which is really disappointing. It's hard not to worry- really hard! I know it helps no-one!
Eating reasonably well. Did lots of gardening/car cleaning/ housework yesterday so exercise is OK. Back to drinking wine most days again :( I know I'm better off without it.

Happy belated b-day to Mr. Cate!!!

I hope you can get a little more relaxed. For reasons I don't understand, somehow I start to get far more relaxed on Monday after being tense through most of the weekend.

If wine is a comfort "food" for you, it´s no wonder you´re having more of it right now. All the other stuff will get easier as soon as you can find the calm again. Cortisol makes people get fatter around their bellies, which I find particularly mean. All the best, LaMa

Hey Cate, I'm back!

It seems like things have been very difficult in your family, and it is understandable that you are having some anxiety. The best thing I have found when I am anxious is exercise, and it sounds like you have that covered. I hope things get a bit better for you soon.

Xx

OS is oldest Son I believe, Risty xo

Cate, I hope the anxiety lifts for you soon. I spend a lot of time worrying about others (and anything and everything else!) but all you can do is be your lovely supportive self. This too shall pass!

Thanks Vee, LaMa, Risty, anna & Han. I'm feeling much better today, after playing 18 holes of golf. I really feel like going down to see our younger son & might just go tomorrow. I can't get him out of my head & I think it would cheer him up. I'll see what my LH says. He might go too. Appreciate your support folks xoxo

I have decided not to go down to Hobart. Our son has friends arriving from Canada on Sunday for about 10 days & that should cheer him up & we'll be visiting the w/e after as well. I'm feeling quite tired today, but in a nice way, & wouldn't be alert enough to drive for 3 hours. We also have a dinner to go to tomorrow night, my LH has golf on Sat & we are both committed to playing in a "Come Play Golf" day on Sunday. Busy life, this retirement!
Yesterday, while I was playing golf my LH vacuumed the house, cooked dinner, did dishes......a nice surprise!
I was going to do some gardening today, but it has just started raining lightly so now have a great excuse not to. Nice. I'm back on MFP again & will try to log everything again. I'm down .5kg in the last week- 4.5 to go to be where I want to be. Too tired to type any more! xo Cate

Your husband is a real treasure! Here in Austria there´s something called the "retirement greeting": O, hi, great to see you! Sorry, I haven´t got time now, bye!

I have to get used to all the abbreviations all over again! On that note, what's LH stand for? lol

That was nice of him to do all that stuff for you!

He is a treasure LaMa! Risty- He didn't do all that stuff for me sweets. He did it for us. LH stands for lovely husband & he sure is one of those.
We have had a pleasant day today & are going out to a Christmas dinner tonight. I think it's crazy celebrating C'Mas in November! It's his minor work one- the people he works with mainly in the kitchen of the youth detention centre he works very much part-time in. I think most of them will be out of a job soon as they are cutting back majorly. It won't worry him, but will some of them. Some are very lazy "workers" & have become entrenched in the government job/entitlements thing. It spoils you for the real world. I was once a government worker.

Anyhow, I had better think about what I'm wearing....
Bye for now, xo Cate

Thanks Risty. It will be the last time we dine at that "restaurant". It's expensive, but very low quality food. The company was good & I got to catch up with one of my favourite women. She used to work with us, when we had a pub. My poor husband does not feel at all well today though & had to go run the golf day.

It's our younger son's 32nd birthday today & boy, is he struggling. No matter what my LH says, I'm going to go stay with him for a few days in 2 weeks time & get him to a GP & get a referral to a psych! He has friends arriving tomorrow for 10 days & that will help get him through. Poor thing!

I have had a pretty good day today & have done quite a bit of housework, plus read half a book. No "comfort eating."

Meh for the high money/low quality food place, but yay for good company :) I´d ask you to give your son an extra birthday hug from me but I´m sure that´d look weird so I´ll just leave the extra hug here for anyone who can use it.
