Cate's Diary

Hi LaMa- I'll have to remember where that hug is, so I can go back & use it when the need arises! Actually, that is the best thing about this forum- the support! I am determined to get help for our son. One day I know we'll look back at this time in his life & he will be strong & happy. I have to believe that. I keep telling him he will.
We're off to play golf today. The club is having a "come try" day & hopefully we'll get some newcomers, preferably some young ones!
Cheers, xo Cate

I'm sorry to hear your son is struggling so much. It must be so hard on you as well. I don't know what else to say, but I just wanted to say that.

Thank you Risty xo

Had a great day yesterday. We had lots of young ones come along & we played golf with a 15yr old we had not met before. He was lovely & I'm sure he also enjoyed his day. He was so well mannered & quite sweet.

Am very tired today & am going to have a lazy day! Feel pretty good though. Cheers, Cate

I would give anything for a lazy day.... how old do kids have to be before they'll leave you alone enough so you can have a lazy day??? I'm guessing teens?

I think they need to have left home Risty! Sorry to tell you that ;) Mine have long flown the coop :D

I'm reading everyone's diaries, but just don't seem to have much to say. I'm not particularly down, more like in neutral. Am going to push myself to go play golf again today, but it's very windy & chilly. Come on Summer! Feeling like being a hermit...... getting on the move........xoxo Cate

But I thought teenagers were so engulfed in themselves and talking to their friends on their phones/computers/etc that I would be able to sit down at night and watch my own TV shows! I know growing up we watched TV with our parents after our homework, so there must be some down time! Right now there's NONE (with exception of when they are sleeping :p haha)

Enjoy the golf. I really need to get out to the course. It's been way too long.

I'll try and send some warm weather your way. Let me look up the postage...

A little bit of that warm weather arrived Vee. You must have sent it express post! Thanks for that. I enjoyed my golf but played badly again. I'm tempted to go back out & play another 9 today in the chicken run.

I like the feeling you have after an energetic day- lazy, but a good lazy.... a deserved lazy. I'm looking outside & thinking that the day looks so good it would be a pity to waste it. We do have to go to Launceston but had planned on doing that tomorrow & then we are off to Hobart Sat for the night & will see our YS. Looking forward to that!

I can't get into golf, that's one thing that just doesn't interest me! lol.... but if you keep going you'll improve for sure!

Risty- I used to always say that I would never play golf, as I had no interest in it all, until I took it up 2 years ago & got the bug. I hope I get better at it, but suspect I may have left it too late to do that!

Bluebean- Oh no. I couldn't swap for hot WA weather. I'm just looking for more days between 20-30, which is what our Summer usually is. We're lucky with temperatures where we live & I wouldn't swap with anywhere. I like having 4 seasons too. Yesterday was beautiful- around 24oC & hardly a breath of wind.

We (I) decided we would go to Launceston & get our shopping over & done with, instead of leaving it until today. We then played 9 holes of golf in the Chicken Run on our way home. Hmmm.....no improvement, but lots of exercise! My hips ache like crazy!

Today we have to go back out to the course as there's a group playing that would like us to open the bar for a couple of hours. Lucky we did go to Launceston yesterday. The guy who was going to do it, now can't & asked my LH.

We may have sold my late MIL's house! :D Hopefully to a lovely young couple we know very well. Unfortunately it's through an agent as the contract had already been signed when we heard they were looking to move back up here. Their offer is more than the family said they would accept, so should be accepted. It will be lovely if they buy it, as they're good friends of our family & it would feel right.

Feeling good, but a little tired today. Off to Hobart tomorrow so had better take it easy today. Cheers, Cate.

It may be :)
We had a lovely week-end in Hobart. Our son thinks he may have turned the corner & is starting to feel much better. We went out to dinner Sat night while our OS & the 2 teens were out seeing the Hilltop Hoods. We went with our YS, the Canadian couple who are visiting him & one of our favourites of his friends & his GF, whom I hit it off with really well. She is lovely. A really good bonus outcome of the evening was not only making a lovely new friend, but also finding someone who will help get our son onto a mental health plan so that he can get some help. She is studying Psychology & is doing her thesis & has some inside knowledge of psychs in Hobart. She wasn't sure if it was appropriate to point him in the right direction & I assured her that it is. I know that he really likes & trusts her & as I told her, I would do it, but it's hard when you don't live nearby. We didn't talk about him for long & found we had lots of common interests.

Yesterday we went to the farmers market in the centre of Hobart, which was great & met up with the couple who want to buy my MIL's house. They are very keen & very excited, but petrified the bank will not approve the loan. They are friends with both our sons & us & we really hope it goes through. We do have to appear to be impartial though as my LH is one of 5 & we would hate them to think that we have passed on what the family would accept. We have not. It is a good deal all around if what they said they were going to offer is what they pay. Fingers crossed they get approval!

We still fitted in some gardening at our son's & went shopping with him for some large pots etc. We will go visit more often now & he is going to keep a room vacant for us, our OS, the GK's & other visitors, which will be great. We need to buy 2 more single bed mattresses. He seems to be much better off back in his house & it looks really good.

I have a slightly sore throat today. Hopefully it will disappear! Love to all, xo Cate

Well that sounds like an amazing weekend you had there! I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything works out with the house, too.

LaMa- Thanks. It is such a relief. It will be good to get a system in place for support for him in the future.
Oaks- They have signed a contract, subject to getting finance & have one month to do so. Settlement would be a month after that if they go ahead. When it's sold it's one less worry & they are a lovely couple.

We have too much on this week. Golf stuff mostly. A Vet's visit today(incl. morning & afternoon tea & me doing the bar) & then more of the same, only bigger on Thursday- my LH organising & running a big tournament & me doing the bar (100 people) In the middle there is women's golf on Wed.(may not go), 8-ball Wed night(may not go) & babysitting the GK's overnight on Frid night.....

My sore throat is hayfever/allergy related I think as I also have asthma badly. Not feeling great & feeling a bit anxious. Will try not to think about it too much! xo Cate

Allergy related sore throats often don´t mix well with golf links, hope you feel better soon - skipping at least one of the events sounds like a sane thing to do ;)

I decided not to play today & told one of the women yesterday, who then talked me into changing my mind. I changed it back this morning & am quite happily having a day at home. I know I need to do that to re-charge my batteries. I feel much better already! :D
