Cate's Diary

wow you are doing so well.. Do you get alot comments from ppl who notice how much weight you have lost... I just cant wait till someone notices..lol cant believe its raining there.. send it over to me.. crops need it bad...
have a great day

Just popping in to cheer you on. It looks like the maintenance club will have you as a full member any day. You are half way to dropping those 4kg already which is amazing.

LOL - at superwoman. This forum is full of what I term unlikely athletes. We can teach a lot of (even thin looking) youngsters a thing or too about exercise.

If it is any consolation to you - I think that a lot of us have to be pretty restrictive still in maintenance. I certainly do.

You mention starchy carbs. I am still not touching bread or rice. I have had a few spoons of wholemeal pasta over the last few months as I sometimes make some for Rod and it can be tempting (now I'm in maintenance) to have a spoonful. I havent had a serving for myself yet though. I have been ok with a serving of cous cous a couple of times and saw no gain - but the way that I cook cous cous there is more veg there than actual cous cous. I have had boiled potato a couple of times in maintenance but cut it back out. As you know - I go by my spreadsheet and how my weight seems to react when I eat things. I suspect that starchy carbs are going to be staying pretty much permanently out of my food plan - other than a very occasional dinner party situation when it is difficult to be too picky if you look thin...

You are doing great. It just goes to prove what I always say. Firm nutritional control plus appropriate regular exercise gets great weight loss results.

Bensmum- Thank you! I get comments like "look at you- still looking great" or similar as people are used to me how I am now 2 years down the track. I get these comments every week, often by the same people over & over. I have also been told by shop-keepers & others that they cannot imagine me ever being big. I love that one!
I would be more than happy to send you some of our rain. I am so over the rain!!!xo Cate
Omega-
Hi! Re the 2kgs. Whenever I go back to eating the original program foods it never ceases to amaze me how quickly I lose. I'm sure it's because starchy carbs are my enemy! I am not going to reintroduce them as an everyday thing. I don't miss them anyway. I have given up experimenting with my diet. I also am not going back to the nutritionist. Exercise is now such a part of my life. I love it!
Nosy grandson!
My grandson is sitting watching what I type. LOL! Time to go.
Cheers everyone, xo Cate

Well, I've just had the nosey grand-daughter attacks today... not really, she just wants to sit on my lap whatever I am doing, and keep typing the letter "s" at the moment. Never mind, would waste that time any day!!!! Just so lovely. They aren't little for very long, and life keeps moving, so this time around as a grandma I am trying to enjoy every single second!

Grandkids-
I was just teasing him! He's a darling!
Weight-
Down yet another .5kg!! Wee hoo!! 2.5 down since Monday!
Today-
My dear husband dobbed me in to have our GS up here again tonight so he can watch the Saints with us. I wasn't going to keep him another night for a few reasons. It serves my LH right! ;)
The sun is shining & it is such a shame to waste it by being inside. I have booked my GS in for a haircut but it's not until 1.45. Imight go ring the other hairdresser's & see if they have an earlier appointment as I feel like going now.
He is trying to pump up my fitball & is complaining a lot. He volunteered so eagerly! LOL! I'll go have a quick go to help it along. Funny boy!
Catch you later, Cate

Cate - fantastic. Cohens is such a fantastic tool for shedding a few kilos. No need for panic when we know how simply we can reverse the weight with a few good decisions!

Glad to know it's coming off again and your are feeling great again.

Good luck tonight with Saints game!

WELL DONE SAINTS!!!!
WEE HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheers2::biggrinjester::cheers2:
Thanks Niyah & Omega. Now I have to dream up a way of getting tickets to next weeks grand final!!:svengo:

Oh Niyah- During the day I had a conversation with our GS about what to do in an emergency & did he know about 112 being the mobile emergency number, gave him lessons on unlocking my phone to use it etc. Half way through the match I said to him that from the home phone it's still 000! I honestly thought I could have had a heart attack during that match! OMG!! I'm so sorry you are so sick my friend. What a bugger!! Take care of yourself & get well soon. Are you going to the doctor to get some Tamiflu? The Exercise Physio had swine flu & was right again really quickly. xoxo Cate
Weight- Same, same. Still 2.5 down though so happy with that.
Food- Cohen's only, still not weighing it.
Mood- Excellent!
Exercise today- 2 & 1/2 hours wood cutting & carrying. I think that had better be it for today. I also carried lots of the wood above my head as if I was lifting weights. Just because I could!!
I'll do my bike & weights tomorrow.
Our neighbour-
Had said something to me about dragging a tree out from off our bush track sometime as he had gone looking for one of his sheep that had gone missing on our block. I wasn't sure what or where he was talking about but said "sure, that would be great."
He came over to us today while we were loading up our wood & told us that he & his son & done the job this morning with his tractor.
I'm gob-smacked!!
Our bush track is sensational! They have gone right along the track to the very back of our bush & then along the top & down through the middle where there was once a bush track. Now that is sort of what he had said to me but I really had no idea what he actually meant. I had said that it would be good if the track was clearer as it's pretty rough. Not any more! It's amazing! I can't think of a way of repaying him at the moment. We get on really well with him & his wife. They are great neighbours. He had a brain aneurysm last year & has been told he's a "walking time bomb" so he has decided to just live his life & enjoy it & not worry too much about anything. He's the one I got the footy tickets for ages ago.
I must be mad!
I'm enjoying being back on Cohen's only food.
Enjoying being strict again.
Enjoying every piece of fruit & every cracker.
I love the way I feel when I am only eating the original Cohen's food!!
I'm off to spend some more time with my LH. We have had a very full-on but enjoyable day.
Took our GS home midday, swapped fitballs with my DIL (hers was too big, mine much smaller,)had lunch & have been cutting wood since & walking through the bush. I'm having a lovely day. My LH is special.
Nearly forgot!!- We have decided to cash my super in & my LH agreed that it would be a good idea for me to buy a new car!! I have never ever had a new car. Now I'm going to start seriously checking them out. I'm thinking a Honda Jazz. Small, economical(<$20K) I don't have that much super & it is really cheesing us off that it is rapidly diminishing. They lost $4,000 of mine this year & it was <$40K in total before. It seems so wrong!! So I'm going to cash it in, buy a car, build our veranda & put the rest in the bank! Maybe a holiday next year? Sounds like a good plan
Time to go. Cheers my friends, xoxo Cate

Haven't been to a doctor - I was worse yesterday, but today although I feel bad, it's under control as long as I have a cold & flu tablet every few hours. I feel disgusting when it wears off - everything aches and hurts, including my bronchial tubes. The weird thing is this time around, the FIRST thing that happened is my bronchial tubes clagged up and I started coughing up goo - that's usually the last stage of a horrible wog for me. Still, it's not as much as yesterday, so hopefully it is coming under control.

I really just want to get through Monday - all day practice, followed by all night performance, then I can quietly die in bed somewhere!

I don't know if it actually IS swine flu, but since so many people in and around school community have had it, I wouldn't be surprised. It's certainly hit very hard, whatever it is, and I've had a couple of touches of something else in the last few weeks that weren't that bad. This one is a stinker, that's for sure. I'm not too wheezy, and can breathe OK - just feel sorry for myself, that's all.

Well, back to the work pile. Everyone is helping this weekend with props and sound tracks and so on, and I'm the hold up - I'm the "organiser" so had better get back to it!

PS - try and get your heart in order for NEXT weekend. You'll need a big sign up on the wall with instructions for whoever is around - "112 - mobile, 000 home phone".

I think Saints will go all the way - they are on a roll.

Think I will savour tonight, Cate - the opposition next week will be far, far tougher. Just love a game when the Cats get away from the opposition and make mincemeat of them! However, next week sure to be a grinding battle. Scarlett vs Riewolt - what a match up!

We so want to be there but the only tickets I can find for sale are as a part of a package & around $1900 not including airfares!! Out of our price range. That's for rich people. I rang a friend in Melbourne who is an MCC member & they missed out on an allocation this year. His wife & best friend are queuing up at the MCG Friday night all night to get tickets. These are the friends we catch up with when we go over to Melb each year to see the Cats/Saints match.
I feel so excited & nervous. I must go make some more calls!! We really want to go. I can still get reasonable fares if we go over sat morning come back early Sunday.
Bye for now, cate.
PS weight crept back up .5kg. No reason- just fluid I guess.

Hiya Cate

Just dropping in to say hi....sorry I haven't got time to read your diary. Just wanted you to know i am thinking of you though.

Sam:)

Hi Cate!

Stupid fluid! You are doing really well, though. When you say you aren't weighing it, are you just estimating? or are you eating more than what your original cohen's programme suggested? just curious! 2.5kg down is great though. well done!

And well done on the footy too :)

xx

Hi to you too Sam!!
DM-
Just guesstimating about day 2 of re-feed portions rather than original. My idea was to try that for a week & see what happens and.....
Weight- down 1kg today, so 3kg in one week. Gotta love Cohen's!!!! Currently 1kg over top of GW range!! Yee Hahhh!!!!
Today-is magnorious!! That's a cross between glorious & magnificent.
I have been to Launceston on my quest for Grand Final tickets (no luck there)
I bought a pair of fawn/ browny sandals to go with my long skirt & blouse that I am going to wear to my mum's 85th.
I bought a sleeveless(OMG!!) mauve walking singlet top with a white bra thing that goes under it & it has a white trim at the bottom.
I also bought wrist weights that are excellent. I was going to buy 3kg weights but they were expensive & then I saw these wrist weights. I will get much more use out of them as I can also use them on my walks. I also got some sports socks 1/2 price.
My LH said to buy 2 olive trees to go in pots outside our entrance but I bought 2 big Cordylines instead. They will be better suited & will look lovely. They didn't have olive trees in the nursery I went into but I don't think they should be in pots anyway.
I also bought a couple of dozen bottles of wine, including some Andrew Garrett Sparkling Burgundy, which I love. Our 15 dozen wine rack has been looking very sad & because I am not drinking at all they will stay in the rack for quite a while. We have been meaning to stock it up for ages.
I also dropped my LH's invites in to be copied. They nearly drove me nuts as I just couldn't get the border right. I have dropped them off to be copied instead. Now I have to chase up all the addresses.
I'm getting organised. Pity about GF tkts though!!
$1,350 each I can get them for but that doesn't include airfares or accommodation. It's highway robbery!
Feeling great so while I'm so full of beans I had better do some exercise. Walk I think in the beautiful, but apparently short-lived sunshine.
Cheers, cate.

That weight is dropping off you. Well done.

Walking is the most wonderful form of exercise when the world is glorious and magnificent. It is so enjoyable - it can seem amazing that it is classed as exercise at all. I love walking outdoors when the weather comes to the party (although there are bad weather days when I bless the purchase of the treadmill). Have fun outdoors and enjoy the weather.

Hi Omega. I ended up doing washing & hanging it out & then plopped in my chair & read the paper. I had been walking for a couple of hours around the city but it's funny that I don't even register it as actual exercise. My feet & ankles did last night though & I fell asleep watching tv. Pavement walking is so hard on your body.
Weight this morning-
Back up .5kg today but that's ok. It happens a lot with me. My scales only have .5kg increments so this happens. When I get back into my GW range I will go back to weighing Mondays only. Being obsessed with scales is not smart.
I'm cold this morning so am going to go hop on my bike & do my bike & weights as soon as we finish our coffees. After an almost perfect day yesterday it is the opposite today. Cold, wet & windy! UGH!
My LH is not going to golf. He organises it. He has been rained on the last 2 times that he has played. We used to say that it never rained on his golf days but can't say that any more! I think he's fighting a cold. He would never admit to it.
Take care everyone.
Remember "Nothing tastes as good as slim feels"
Cheers, Cate
