Cate's Diary

cuddlebones & decisionmaker- Sweet! Thanks for the nice words!
100% is the only way to go!
Cheers, Cate.

So I'm jumping on your bandwagon.. I signed up for cohen and see how it goes.. I'm real excited. Doing the blood test and now just waiting for the email with the new menu.. I read your diary and regardless of gaining in the end a little like you did.. Any diet makes you gain if you stop following the new lifestyle change.. :cheers2:

all you cohenites have motivated me.. :grouphug:

Ivette- That's great news! Good for you!! That's made my day....
I'm going to be spending more time in here to get me through this first week back on program.
I went for a 2.5km walk before lunch. Down our very steep drive to the letter box, up a long incline, down a very steep road & return. I was very puffed when I got back. The road up to our house is sooo steep! Boy, was I hungry! I ate to plan but chose a different option. A quick vegies topped with Mozzarella & microwaved for one minute. I'll have to really watch that the exercise does not make me too hungry.
Time for more water. I have a big head-ache!!
Cheers, Cate.

1kg down is fantastic. Yayyy you!!!!
Poor Cate. So sorry to hear you have a bad headache. Water, water and more water. You are very game doing so much exercise so early in the program. I tend to use it as an excuse to do very little as I don't want to get hungry (and I'm probably a bit lazy).
Each day usually gets better and you'll be back at goal in no time at all.
Have a great night
Take care
Beck

Hi Beck! I'm feeling great today. Headache's gone & I'm cruising. It is much easier 2nd time around. Also knowing it won't be for over 6mths helps. It actually feels so much better mentally to not be eating so much. I am really going to do this better this time. I'm very determined to do re-feed & then follow maintenance strictly afterwards.
I'm glad I stayed in this forum & I'm very glad I didn't wait any longer to go back on program 100%. I am also really enjoying the company on this forum even more than I have at other times. I think we have a good mix of people and it's fun. We are all helping one another!
I didn't weigh this morning, just in case....& then I see Beck has lost 3kgs in 2 days. That is bloody fantastic! As I said in your diary, beck, "fluid shmuid" who cares. It gives you such a boost at the start. I'll weigh tomorrow for sure.
I have been swimming this morning with my LH & then some shopping (chicken breasts, more mangoes...etc) and then I went to Tai Chi, which was down by the river again. Today is really hot for Tassie, about 33oC. Laugh you Wait Awhiles, I know....that's not hot, but for us that is hot!
I absolutely love Tai Chi and am so glad I started it. I feel so blissed out afterwards that I am going to find out where I can go to do yoga as well. It makes me feel so relaxed & grounded.
Time for a pot of herbal. I am so enjoying my husband's company at the moment. It's lovely when he gets a few days off. Out to 8-ball tonight. I'll take some crackers & an apple to eat when everyone else is eating supper. We're taking stuffed eggs which will be delicious but, of course, I will not have any. They have diet ginger beer where we are going. I must get them to stock some diet sprite as well (because I can). My LH is the assistant bar manager(unpaid).
Phew, I'm hot! more water required. We don't really need air conditioning here in Tas but I must put the ceiling fan on. Cheers, cruising Cate.

Hi Cate,
So good to hear you are feeling great as well. It is like our bodies are saying "thankyou, this is where I want to be". I seem to slip straight back into the program every time I set my mind to do it and it seems to get easier each time (which is good for future reference). Hopefully I will get to the stage (like you) where I can control myself for a reasonable length of time and give my poor body a break from the constant yo-yo-ing that I seem to do.
You are very lucky to have found a good man that you obviously adore, and I hope he appreciates you as much as you do him (he sounds like he does).
33 degrees...ha ha I say. We had 44 degrees here in Sydney last Saturday and it nearly killed me as I do my catering job on Saturdays and have no air conditioning or anything and had the oven on all morning, but I'm sure that you probably felt the same as I did as you're probably not used to days that hot.
Anyway, have a great night.
Take care
Beck

Hi Beck, We know that we are really lucky. He is lovely! I think it must sound boring sometimes to some people but I do know how lucky I am& I am sure he does too. He is a very happy, positive person. He has loved me regardless of how I looked, whatever I have done for a long time (37 years.) I want everyone to be as happy & am an incurable romantic.
My body is sighing, saying "Thank you, Cate for going back on Cohen's100%. Aaahhh!

One of the young fellas is back, shovelling gravel in the heat. OMG! They're pouring the rest of the concrete on Friday now, instead of Sat. Excellent!
Better scoot. Thank goodness for this forum! How would we get through to the next meal time without it. Time flies for me in here! Cheers, Cate

Heya ladies! Well done on getting the will-power to go back 100%. Awesome work!

Cate - I so absolutely know what you mean about wasting time (though it's actually very beneficial!) on the forum. I swear I'd have been cooking ANZACS and shortbread and snacking on macadamias and eating entire chocolate cakes if it weren't for this forum. It keeps me busy and keeps me inspired to stick to it. Haha, I feel almost like it's AA - I come on here REALLY WANTING PIZZA and leave feeling content with where I am.

I heard on the radio today that in country South Australia (can't remember the name of the town) it was 47 degrees in the shade and 62 in the sun. HOW INSANE!!!!!!

Cate - you have made me want to explore the option of moving to Tassie. I've always hated the heat and I completely fell in love with Canada when I was there on university exchange. It breaks my heart to think of moving so far away from my beautiful family, and moving somewhere like Tassie is much more bearable.

Hmm - I'm babbling. WELL DONE!!!! xxxxx

Great Cate, you're a star and we're happy to see you twinkling again - love your positive attitude, it's contagious!

I'd love to visit Tassie too DM - reckon we can get the school to let us take kids on camp? Cate your place sounds wonderful -lucky you.

Love CB xxx:grouphug:

3 days on Cohen's 100%- 2kgs down!!
Decisionmaker & cuddlebones- Great idea. I really think your school should come to Tassie for an excursion. I'm sure you two can think up something. Port Arthur and the East Coast are fantastic, as is Cradle Mountain, Hobart, the West Coast......
You are both very sweet & a joy to have in the forum. You have brought a breath of fresh air in with you. I think we have a great group of us at the moment. It's very sociable & I'm enjoying it a lot!
Being positive is such a contagious thing. I do feel really good, just like I did when on the program originally. When you know what you need to do to make you feel good it's madness not to do it. Well, that's when it's something like eating well, exercising & taking time to read a good book, listen to music etc . I feel really relaxed and am not worrying about money or my sons or anything much really.
I won't be exercising today. Too hot for me.(34oC)I swear 34o here feels like 44 elsewhere! I went to our OS's house to water his vegie garden & feed the fish and it was too damned hot. Phew! I'll have to go at night next time. He hadn't thought of it which surprised me. I'm glad I did or he wouldn't have any vegies to come home to.
I hope they are having a great time down the West Coast. They are staying right next door to very good friends of ours. I wouldn't mind being there too. Our house is very cool though as it's solar-passive.
I think I'll go put my feet up & read a book. Cheers for now, cate (a twinkling star? I'll take that!)

Awww, thanks Cate - it's been great having this forum -hope that when the treasures go back to school next week I won't be too busy to come in and read and write.

Fantastic 2kg already - you must be over the moon! It's so good to know that you can get back on the programme and lose the odd kgs before it becomes a big problem - I'd hoped that would be the case as I've lost and regained way too many times before.

I'd be feeling the heat at 34 especially without air cond - :ack2:
My classroom and office are bothairconditioned this year but not everyone is that lucky - 40degrees and 30 hot teenagers isn't pleasant for anyone.
Nearly everyone has aircon in their cars here now -I'd die without it.

Anyway, I'd better get some more of my progrqamme written of DM will know I've been procrastinating again :blush5:

love Del x

Have to be quick but just had to say. Another kilo down. Wee Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back later,Cate

Hi Cate, I have been following your journey since last year and I must say you really are inspirational, I think you are the resident Guru for all Cohenites on this forum. That you were deviation free the 1st time around just blows my mind.

I am happy for your 3kg loss to date - at the rate you are going, you will be at goal within 10 days.

I read your post the other day about taking the walk to your gate/post box and it made me decide to start exercising - nothing strenous but just to be active.

So please keep on posting, you are helping some of us to regain focus and to realise that this is achievable, thank you so much.

G.

GJeans- You're sweet. Thank you! It feels great to be part of a strong, supportive community. I'm enjoying the forum a lot at the moment as there are so many who are contributing and helping one another out. A gentle walk is a good idea but I didn't do any exercise first time. Try it & see how you feel. If it makes you hungry wait until GW.
I can't possibly keep losing at this rate. I wish! I could take it though & then I'll go a few kgs lighter, without my LH knowing (as if!). I whooped out loud this morning.
OMG it is so hot today. We are not used to it at all. They are talking about highest ever recorded temps in Tassie but only until Sunday thank goodness.
I'm very hungry at the moment & I think it was because I got up so early because our workers arrived at 6.15 & I couldn't have breakfast until I got back from the doctors at 9.15. I had asked to have a blood test for cholesterol etc as I haven't had one since we were living in & running a pub & made the ap't before I started back on Cohen's 100%. I went anyway because I really am keen to see how it has changed. Surely it must be much better. I'll book in to see my doc soon to find out & will post the results, good or bad. It was never high-5. something but hopefully will be under 5 now.
Which reminds me I have to ring the blood bank as I have an ap't on Mon which I can't go to b/c of being on Cohen's.
Better go do that. Thank you all for your wonderful comments the last few days. They have really make me feel good. Cheers, Cate.
OMG I love Cohen's!

Another .5kg today. Yay!! 3.5kg in 5 days!!
Why wouldn't you do Cohen's?
I'll be back later as I'm going to do some more housework before it really heats up. Tassie is having record highs! You may laugh when you see the top temps but we are not used to it or geared up for it.
I drank too much water yesterday & the day before.
I have also been in lots of pain in my left thumb. It twigged last night that it might be chicken as I have been eating it for the last 5 days & hadn't for ages before that. My sister follows the blood group diet for her allergies mainly & she used to be in agony from arthritis & inflammation. Now she hardly has any pain. I'm going to stop eating chicken for a few days & see if it goes away. I had pain in one of my toes the other night that was similar. My LH has had gout after eating asparagus so I stopped having that.
Cheers for now, Cate.

After googling for a while I think my sore thumb might be from eating oranges so I'll cut them out for a few days & see.
I decided that seeing it is stinking hot there was no point just sitting thinking about how hot it is so I vacuumed most of my house & mopped it, after de-cobwebbing & dusting.
It's the first time I have ever felt like I had something in common with Rafael Nadal or the other Aust Open tennis players. I had to keep wiping the sweat off with a towel!
You know what, I didn't feel at all bad. I felt good! My memories of hot days are tinged with horrible memories of being fat & sweaty, feeling disgusting and not being physically able to do much. What a difference! I whizzed through it. Most of our house has cork tiles so it was a lot of cleaning. I also moved everything. Phew!
I'm not sure what I'll do for the rest of the day. Maybe read a book. I think everyone must be lolling around in swimming pools today. Where are you all? Getting cool I hope, cheers, Cate.

That's a huge effort, Cate. Well done!
I've had an amusing morning here in Perth. A couple of weeks ago I put my name on my receipt at the pharmacy not far from here. Last night they rang to say I'd won!! So this morning I popped down to pick up my prize - wait for it ... - an $800 BananaBoat SURFBOARD!!! Just what I need.
Decisionmaker thinks it's hilarious and it is - a couple of my girls have already claimed it and know how to surf so I guess I won't be down the beach making a spectacle of myself.
Well it's nice to win anything so I'm very happy -might have some fun with the kids in my classes though -hehe.

It is a bit quiet in here isn't it?
Good on you for losing another 1/2kg, Cate. I seem to have stalled very dramatically which is disheartening as I haven't deviated once since starting.
You'd better relax for the rest of the day or you'll be starving.
Have a good one.

Wow, Cate - 3.5kgs in 5 days - that is phenomenal, keep it up

It has been raining here most of the time it is our rainy season here in the highveld of SA. It is all cloudy and cool so a vast difference from Aus.

Cheers

Cuddlebones-
That isn't so funny! You might want to take up surfing next Summer when you are slim. Don't give it away!! It is good to win something. Put it aside & say to yourself that you might just give it a go.
Try not to weigh so often as your weight really fluctuates a lot, especially with you "young'uns". Some of us don't have TOM & don't I just love that but I still get fluid fluctuations. When you are doing Cohen's 100% know that you continue to shrink. The weeks you don't weigh less then get out the tape measure because that's where the loss will be. So many people give up after having a small plateau. I feel sure you won't, but don't set yourself up for disappointment. It is such a treat to hop on the scales after a month. I know how hard that is.I can't do it now but I did for the first few months (I think it was that long) It has cooled down a bit now thank goodness.
I told my LH how good it felt to be so physical in the heat and not to suffer like I used to.
GJ- South Africa is one place I def. want to go to one day. Our younger son has it on his itinerary for his big trip. I'm not sure exactly when he's there but I know he has a tour planned & paid for. He leaves Australia in April. That's coming around fast!
It's quite hot where I'm sitting so I might just head back to my chair, under the ceiling fan.
Cheers all, Cate.

Oh Cate,

I'm 48 and have given bith to 7 children -no matter how thin I am I won't be going surfing. Oh, my imagine if some of my surfie students saw me out there!! My 18year old daughter is really keen to get back into it as her old board was dangerous so it's a much appreciated prize.

Can't wait not to have to deal with that TOM but it's not looking promising yet!

Glad it's cooled off a bit for you -it's pretty hot here still.

Thanks for your encouragement, Cate - I think I'll delay weighing as much as I can.

Enjoy your evening,

Del
