Cate's Diary

Thank you LaMa, Petal & Liza. We had a lovely evening but were both overfull & really thirsty all night. Dinner was delicious but must have had too much salt. I'm used to eating low-sodium now. I had 4 glasses of wine, which would have contributed. I don't think I'll have any tonight to kick start my June plan a night early. I'll weigh in tomorrow morning.
G & I had the C19 test. You are meant to self-isolate for 24 hours afterwards, but we don't have any symptoms & only had it so that the gov't has more figures to go on when they reconsider opening things up again.
I was going to skip breakfast this morning, but instead, I think I'll have a half serve breakfast when R&K get up.
G & I had a rough night's sleep last night. Archie played up. It was really windy again. We ended up carrying his crate into the laundry so his barking wouldn't wake R&K but then I stood outside the laundry door talking to him until he settled. When I got back into bed G was snoring his head off & also had restless legs. What a night!
We think we'll go for a drive to Sheffield today as K hasn't been there. Check it out- Sheffield the 'Town of Murals' - About Us
G & I sorted through a few of our cupboards & R&K will be taking a few boxes of stuff back with them. She's starting from scratch in her new home. Our cupboards did get a tidy after all. I had some lovely old little plates & bowls & never use them. I still have lots. I really love K.

I love the idea of a (smallish?) town with that many murals! Vienna has lots of painted façades - most beautiful, some just freaky - but then there's so many buildings it's hardly noticable how many there are.

Sounds like a really nice evening :)
Nice that your cupboard got sorted and tidied and K will be getting some good things to start off her place with. Win-win!

Hi, LaMa & Liza. It bucketed down with rain by the time we got there, so we only got to see some of the murals from the car. We have had a lovely day though. Just chilling back home now. Lighter eating today & drinking spearmint tea. :)

Thanks, LaMa.
June plan-
What was it?......
"I have also given a little bit more thought to my plan for June. I think it will be-
Logging everything into MFP.
1600-1800 cals per day,
minimum of 5000 steps per day,
one day per week only 650 cals &
10 squats per day, but try for 20.
I can do this. If I did that for one month I would lose weight.
Also, weigh myself twice a week at least."

Starting today-
Just logged breakfast & lunch into MFP. 765 cals so far.
BF was 1 piece of oat toast only, with 1 egg & 1/4 avocado.
Lunch was home-made chicken arancini balls & coleslaw with 1/2 a potato, followed by 1/2 a small apple, 1/2 a small mandarin & one home-made lemon biscuit.
R&K left at 11 am. She has given me some hints on dog psychology as Archie played up the last couple of nights in his crate. G & I are going back into town on Thursday or Friday & are going to get a doggy door & our neighbour is going to help us put it in & make it really secure. I will get some Kong toys for Arch as he destroyed the one I bought from the pet shop. Also, his jacket is too big.

Sounds like you had a great weekend Cate. You can use a muffin tin for Archie , put a treat in maybe 6 of them and cover with some tennis balls. He will have fun moving them around and get to use his brain. The kong toys are good too. Dogs really need to work their brains as well as get exercise.

Good luck with the June plan

Hi, LaMa. So excited about your job news! Knowing more psychology is always a good thing. He really has attached himself to me & does not like being separated. I think he'll settle. I'll just have to stay the distance with crate training.
Hi, Petal. I might try the muffin tin idea tonight. I need to keep him awake a bit more during the evening. I'll get him a kong toy for his crate that you can put treats in & get him used to being in there during the day for treats. Hopefully, it will become his happy place instead of Archie jail.
I am very tired this morning. He took a fair while to settle down last night & then woke barking at 4 am. I put him outside to go to the toilet, put him back in his crate with some dry food & only growled at him once I think & then he went back to sleep after some whining & growling. He woke again at 7.30. He just wants to be on my lap all the time, so I am going to have to get him used to being separated from me a bit, but knowing that I will come back. We'll get there zzzzz
June plan, day 1 ✅

It's hard to get used to new circumstances but I'm sure he'll manage it as fast as possble with you being consistent and loving.

Thanks, LaMa. I hope so. I have moved his crate into a cozier spot, which is also closer to our bedroom, but still in the living room.

God it’s hard work settling a new dog . Yes practice leaving him. It will click with him . I suspect he wants to snuggle up with you lol .

Looks like a nice, safe spot. Although if I were a dog I'd prefer the top to be covered, but that may just be me.

It is hard settling in a new dog, Petal. I'm sure he just wants to be snuggled up with me.
I have tried putting a blanket over the top of the crate, LaMa, but he works on it & works on it until he gets it into the crate as much as possible. He has 2 blankets on his cosy crate bed, plus a t-shirt I wore for a day to get my smell on it. Fingers crossed!

You seem like a very clean person so unless it was a very sweaty day maybe a pajama top would work better for scent. He's very lucky to have found you!

Hi Cate - interested you have restless legs. I was diagnosed with that about 15 years ago but I'm not sure that's it. It's makes getting a good night's sleep tough sometimes, though!

Oh bless Archie! It does feel a bit like having a baby when they first come home. Hope tonight works better!
